We rented from Matthews letting agency for almost 5 years, before buying our first home. Matthew himself is very attentive, almost goes above and beyond to help. However, he does not like to be chased on a repair, issues etc. We often had some very blunt replies from him when chased about promised works and repairs. Countless times the oven broke, hard flooring in the property was loose, leaking gutters and a big water stain in the master bedroom that never got fixed. We were without a working boiler when we first moved in for weeks and had a new born baby. Ofcourse, they listen to the landlord over the tenants. We know these works took a long time or were not repaired due to the landlord, Matthew could only carry out works that the landlord told him to go ahead with. Samuel is an amazing colleague we often dealt with him towards the end of our tenancy. Very professional and great customer service. Overall, great letting agency and do not hesitate to rent from them. Especially if you’re looking to rent whilst saving for your own home.

Very friendly staff! They always remember the first names of my wife and I. They are very prompt at replying to emails and extremely good at responding to any issues with the house (not that there are many!). We once locked ourselves out the house and within minutes Sam drove round to let us in!

From the day that I saw the property on the adds board, I knew that this was the house I wanted to live in. Our viewing went very well and Sam, who was on duty at the property, answered all our questions. Although the approval process was quite lengthy due to our previous landlord being on leave, Matt was always attentive and patient during the long wait. The Landlord (via a family member who acted as managing agent) agreed that we could start moving over our furniture a week ahead of the scheduled move-in date, which helped tremendously, but 2 days before we would officially move into the property (on a Friday), due to unforeseen circumstances, we encountered a very unfortunate event on the Wednesday which would potentially change the conditions of our rental agreement. Without writing a long story here, to say the least, it caused a huge amount of stress, tears, a sleepless night on the Wednesday, hours spent on the internet trying to find another suitable property. At this point we were dealing directly with a family member of the landlord, who was acting as their appointed managing agent, as we were told by them that we would not be dealing with Matthew James Property Consultants any further. We were forced to make a decision during the night hours of Wednesday on whether we would be moving into the property on Friday (keep in mind that all our belongings were now already moved) or whether we would move somewhere else. On Thursday morning I decided to call Sam at Matthew James Property Consultants to explain the situation and hear what options we had. Sam handled the situation like a master and told me not to worry and that he would talk to the landlord directly. After a lot of further stress during the day and various phone calls, we received an email in the afternoon from Sam with revised rental conditions which were negotiated by Matt, while he was actually on leave in another country, but then intervened in the situation. To say that we were overjoyed is an understatement. I will at any time in any place recommend Matthew James Property Consultants to anyone. I can not explain how grateful we are to Matt and Sam for the outcome of the matter and we love living in our home. Thank You would never be enough. Both Matt and Sam needs to be commended for the excellent service they gave to both parties – landlord and tenant. Sam did so much to resolve the issue and handled it very professionally. Even though I was in tears and extremely stressed up, he remained calm and comforted me. He then later on decided that there is strength in numbers and asked Matt to intervene. Even Though Matt was on leave in a different country at that point in time, he didn't hesitate to call the landlord to find middle ground which ended in a positive outcome. I am forever grateful for the way both of them handled the matter. They really do make an amazing team.
