Rob recently supported us implement a Tesla battery storage solution for a prestigious sporting event. There were serious time constraints to deliver the project and Rob and his team ensured we were good to go live as planned. Rob also provided fantastic support during the deployment programme. Highly recommended and thank you Matt

Installation March 2024 – faulty installation and lack of aftercare Installation itself involved a number of issues. VAT was initially charged where it should not have been. Confusion at AEC over the installation date, with contractors arriving earlier than agreed. The scaffold company had been given insufficient meterage. The roofers were delayed because the correct number of fittings had not been supplied. The armoured cable was supplied too short, resulting in an underground joint, we were told its length had been estimated using Google Earth. The inverter was installed higher than the position recommended in the installation manual, meaning steps are required to read its screen. We were offered the opportunity to have this changed, but by then we wanted the installation completed. Some components were left over and their intended locations were unclear to the installer until we pointed out where to fit those as per installation manual. We also purchased items ourselves which we understood had been included in the agreed installation, we subsequently requested and received reimbursement. The wiring diagram supplied to us was generic rather than specific to our installation. There was pressure to complete the work without returning the following day. Accurate testing would have shown an issue. The system’s power generation operated as expected and apart from a battery fault which developed later, we were generally pleased with its performance. June–September 2026 More than two years after installation, we discovered that our socket supply was measuring approximately 137–138V and testing indicated an open-earth fault, with approximately 90–91V going to earth. This is a serious electrical safety concern and we stopped using the solar system while seeking professional advice. We initially suspected a bad connection in a junction box and corrected that, but the fault remained. We contacted AEC throughout and were told that Rob Atkinson had been informed, but we did not receive a response. We also attempted to contact Rob directly. It took more than 20 calls before we eventually spoke. During that conversation, we were told: “I have had enough of your complaints, I no longer want to have anything to do with you, you are abusing my staff… find someone else.” Rob then ended the call. We dispute that we had abused staff. We subsequently obtained advice from other electricians. They expressed concerns about aspects of the installation as well as the earth fault and advised to contact the original installer asap. We identified installation instructions and a wiring diagram in the equipment installation manual which was relevant to the fault. We contacted another solar installer/electrician who recognised the fault immediately and explained to us that this was an installation oversight with the dangerous fault having been present since installation more than 2 years ago. It was remedied. All resulted in considerable inconvenience, stress as well as expense and huge disappointment with the way in which our issues were handled. Our experience has therefore been mixed: the system itself initially appeared to perform well, but the incorrect original installation has caused us to have no further confidence in AEC. Based on our experience, we would not choose AEC again and would recommend that prospective customers consider the pricing, installation, documentation and aftercare arrangements carefully before proceeding.

I chose AEC because they were a local company and had good reviews. The sales process was more of a chat than a sell which I liked. The quote came quickly, they made a few adjustments to it without hesitation and I wasnt pressured. The slowest part of the whole job was Northern Power Grids part which they really dragged their feet on BUT AEC copied me into correspondance so I knew it wasnt them. AEC use their own engineers on the whole again I like that. Scaffolders were efficient and the lads fitting the panels did a really neat job. The electrician that connected everything was excellent, did a neat job and was tidy and very good to communicate with. He helped me download the relevent apps and set things up. The solar is really performing well so far so I am happy. If you are considering Solar and Battery I would recommend AEC. You could probably find Joe Blogs electrical who might be a bit cheaper BUT AEC provide a great service and give confidence that they know what they are doing and will still be around in a couple of years if backup is required.

Would highly recommend AEC, Rob came and helped us with the initial quote and was very knowledgeable and genuine with no hard sell. The installation ran to time and the team were friendly and unobtrusive and literally just cracked on and got it completed *in the day, including replacing a few damaged roof tiles as part of the service. Just a great and easy service !
