Top quality people, installation and equipment - highly recommended. Ours is an installation on a flat roof at the rear of a loft conversion, in a conversation area in Ken & Chelsea. This means there are restrictions on what can be done, but Mark and Geoege were very familiar with the rules and confident in recommending what was allowed. They made good suggestions and dealt well with my (many) questions patiently and swiftly, before we settled on an optimum plan. This even made use of some scaffolding that was on the next building, making the whole installation as cost-effective as possible. We went from enquiry to plan to installation in 4 weeks Installation was also very efficient. The team was onsite at 0730 and had finished the whole job - panels, inverter, battery, Uninterruptable Power Supply and car charger - by 1500hrs, when the system started working. They worked hard, were unfailingly polite, took off shoes indoors, and tidied up well. They promise ongoing support and help with tarrifs, etc so I am looking forward to many years of good service. The Solar Co came up with the most appealing quote, seemed very professional, carried out the work to a high standard and when there were some issues 9 months later they came out and fixed them for free. I got 5 quotes for solar panels for our roof. Many other companies come up with a quote without coming to your home, they just use satellite images but I found out the hard way that this method is not accurate. Other companies didn't take what I wanted onboard or were very expensive. George came out to the house with his drone and camera and measured all the dimensions. I told him that I wanted lots of solar panels and he managed to fit 21 panels on the roof. The quote was a reasonable price and he took my considerations on board. The install was pretty quick and was done well with minimal disruption. They gave a good tutorial on how it all works and had suggestions for tariffs. They provided very good aftercare. Around 9 months after install the bird mesh came loose. At first George and Mark found it hard to believe that it could have happened without something tearing the mesh off but they came out to the house and agreed to fix it which they have now done. It seems as though they don't expect this type of thing to happen to them because they have high standards. I don't expect a 0% chance of things going wrong, what's more important is how the company reacts when things do go wrong and in this respect I think the Solar Co were very good. So I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to install solar. I'm very happy with the outcome.

We contracted The Solar Co. to install a new roof incorporating integrated solar panels and a solar battery. We were extremely impressed with George and Mark’s professionalism and work ethic throughout the project. They kept us regularly updated on progress, answered all our questions promptly, and always made time to discuss options and next steps. We were so pleased with the quality of their work that we subsequently engaged them for several additional projects that had been long overdue — including replacing guttering, soil stacks, and a flat roof, as well as installing a new boiler, upgrading the underfloor heating, and carrying out some internal improvements. We requested Solar panels and storage to be installed having been recommended The Solar Co. The pre install and discussions about how many panels, size, location and battery capacity was easy, friendly and very straight forward. The day of install was staggeringly fast, starting at 8 am and completing at 4pm. As soon as the power was connected we started generating electricity despite it not being sunny. An excellent service both pre and post. One thing to note is that the setting up of the link between inverter and router was done discretely and very quickly at the time of the install. But if for any reason you change or update your router, the procedure to link the App to the system is quite complex, somewhat baffling and requires patience and a steady hand. Especially if you're doing it remotely. Happily for us, George took us through the steps one by one so we managed to reconnect everything as before.

We contacted The Solar Co after our inverter stopped working and George was super responsive and helpful. He came round to check out our current installation and gave us a couple of quotes (one to fix the problem and the other to install a battery). Our new solar system (21 panels, 10 kWh battery, and Zappi) was up and running yesterday afternoon — and it was so cool seeing the panels making “lecky” (electricity)! George, Mark, and their team were superb. As others have said, the process starts with George visiting in person, armed with his fancy drone that measures and maps your roof. He discovered we could fit 21 panels up there — this after another company told us our roof wasn’t even suitable for panels (haha). Like another reviewer mentioned, our consumer unit is awkwardly located in the middle of the house under the stairs, but George came up with a smart, workable solution. He also set up the Zappi so it can never drain the battery — an issue you’ll see discussed online, especially if you’re on Octopus Intelligent Go. The roofers arrived promptly at 7:30 a.m. on installation day, with the electricians not far behind. Mark and George were also on site, making sure everything ran like clockwork. From start to finish, it was a completely stress-free experience — such a nice group of people, all of them. They clearly take pride in their work, and their professionalism is impeccable. If you can, go local. That’s what we did — and it means the same people you read about in the reviews are the ones who turn up and do the job. We haven’t got an EV yet, but when we do (soon!), I won’t hesitate to call George and Mark again.

A brilliant job from start to finish – highly recommended! We recently had 15 solar panels installed across our flat roofs, along with an inverter and battery in the loft and an EV charger at the front of the house – all handled by The Solar Co. The whole experience was exceptional. From the start, Mark and George were brilliant – knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about doing things properly. They were on hand before and during the install, checking everything was going smoothly and that we understood the system. The install itself was slick. Their team of roofers and electricians were a pleasure to have around – polite, professional, and impressively efficient, wrapping everything up by 2pm on the day. What really stood out was their willingness to go the extra mile. Unlike other companies (including Octopus Energy) who wouldn’t touch our flat roofs, The Solar Co had no issue installing panels there, maximising the energy we're able to generate. Where others said we could only fit 7, they delivered 15 – plus managed to install the battery and inverter neatly in the loft, where others refused. A big bonus: our fuse board is under the stairs in the middle of the house. Most companies said they’d need to drill unsightly holes through walls. The Solar Co? They ran all the necessary cabling under the floor – no mess, no fuss. Post-installation, they’ve continued to be incredibly helpful. Mark and George kept in touch, sorted out the paperwork so we can start exporting to the grid, and even returned to adjust a panel (which had a minor shading issue) completely free of charge. That level of aftercare is rare. My neighbour was so impressed by the work, they’ve already booked The Solar Co to fix a sub-par install done by another provider. I recently had a 16.1kWh Fogstar battery installed to complement my existing Sunsynk 5.5kWh inverter, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the work carried out by The Solar Co. From the outset, the entire process was smooth and professional. A special thank you to George Penny for handling the sales process with clarity and efficiency. Everything was well explained, communication was prompt, and there was never any pressure—just honest, straightforward guidance that helped me make an informed decision. All questions were answered quickly and clearly, the latter being particularly useful as we are solar novices (so had some very basic questions to address). On installation day, Jake and Mark did a superb job. They carried out the integration of the new battery system and enabled the UPS emergency power supply with a proper earthing rod, all done neatly and competently. Although they did not finish on the day, they came back again the following week to complete the job, showing great commitment to seeing the work through properly. During the process, they also uncovered a serious fault left by previous installers—some live cables had not been connected correctly, and the joining connector block had shown signs of melting. Though this wasn’t part of their brief, Jake and Mark very kindly and promptly rectified the issue by replacing the faulty connector blocks and making everything safe again. That level of care and responsibility truly stood out. Following payment, full documentation and an updated system diagram were provided, which was very helpful for our records and ongoing understanding of the system. The system is now performing excellently, and the new Fogstar batteries are running brilliantly. I’m very impressed with the quality of service and workmanship from The Solar Co., and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

George and Mark have been amazing to work with. From the first meeting with George, it was evident that he's passionate about what he does and fully understands the intricacies of the pre-install calculations to enable him to advise on the best set up required for our personal needs. He and Mark have an excellent team, who are polite, hard working and very professional. They kept to time and are very reliable. One of the most reassuring things was that they have extremely high standards of install, and a highly qualified and expert electrician, to ensure the correct fitment and cabling. They use excellent roofers (which was one of our worries) but we have had an excellent job done, not only relating to the solar install, but also making appropriate repairs to our roof and guttering, which needed attention - I was very happy with the quality of their work, and convinced that they did not over charge, or do unnecessary work. Since the install, George has ensured that all the paperwork was completed with the network company and supplier and that the system was working perfectly. In addition, after a visit from Octopus, a misplacement of sensors resulted in a problem, which George very kindly arranged for his own electrician to come out and sort, rather than me trying to chase Octopus for a re-visit. For years I had hesitated about getting solar, purely because of concerns as to who to get it done by. I can wholeheartedly recommend George, Mark and his team at the Solar Co, and can also confirm that communication continues even after the job, whenever I have any questions. We were recommended The Solar Co. by nearby friends who'd used them for their solar panels, and we're so glad they did. We used The Solar Co. to reinstate our entire roof (ready for solar panels) and remove an unused chimney stack, and to then install 21 panels feeding through to a Sunsynk inverter and 16kWh Fogstar battery. We're thrilled with the results. Great communication from the start and an end product that exactly matched what was described in the quote. Pragmatic solutions were proposed and agreed upon for the few inevitable issues that arose - we felt engaged and consulted with throughout. I relocated to Gloucestershire from SW London in 2024 & carried out an extensive extension & renovation of a 140 year old period cottage. There is no mains gas here and the existing property had oil fired heating. I wanted to run the property on electric only and to do so as cheaply as possible in order to insulate ourselves from possible electricity price increases. I knew it would involve batteries so I also wanted an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) in the event of a power cut. To my surprise I couldn’t find many solar companies out there that would offer this element. Mark & George at The Solar & Renewables Company had no issues at all with the UPS. They also advised I use the really smart GSE in roof system which looks amazing and also saved me a lot of money on slates! Their quote was extremely competitive & the work was all carried out in a single day at the exact time I needed it in the build schedule. Now we are living here and have had some decent weather I can see how George’s calculations were in no way optimistic! Our electric bill is tiny compared to our last house and even better it’s the only bill!! We also had a Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pump & hot water system installed by them taking advantage of the £7,500 grant available. The system is working really well, the house was like toast during the very cold weather we had this winter I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Solar and Renewables Company

Mr roof has a mix of pitch and flat sections. I spoke to several of the "big" solar panel companies who either refused to quote for the flat parts or did not quote at all. I found George online who was local to me and his company provided flat roof solutions. He visited soon after using a drone to survey the roof. He provided me with a really cost effective solution utilising all the roof space. He installed 19 panels and battery and provided me with a detailed breakdown for the return on investment. He was very knowledgeable in person and responded very quickly to further questions I had via WhatsApp. Installation was quick and the set up was fully explained on the day. After going to some big well known firms who wouldn’t help me because we had a flat roof, I wanted to find a local firm who cared so came across the solar co on the MCS site. I didn’t know much about this stuff so wanted to make sure whoever I used was fully certified. Mark and George are a fantastic team. Thank-you to all the team at Solar co for providing us with our new solar system just before Christmas. What a fantastic Christmas present! The whole experience was seamless from start to finish and we were so impressed with all the advice we received including the great digital tool to play around with equipment parameters and also how quickly George slotted in for our install. An initial chat with George was very informative. We appreciated the visit from Mark who was very thorough with his survey, sending a drone up to take pictures of our flat roof and answering our questions. The scaffolding was organised and came up and down when promised. Panels were installed on our flat roof three storeys up on our loft conversion and sloped roof at the front, along with inverter and battery on the side wall. Particular thanks to Dan on the electrics who on install day spotted and fixed a problem on our fuseboards where the smart meter had been incorrectly and unsafely installed. We are excited for the Spring and Summer ahead to see what the plant can do at its maximum potential.

I found The Solar Co through the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) website. They were dedicated to recommending and installing the right solar system for our circumstances. They clearly communicated the options with no hard sell. They answered all of my questions promptly. The install itself was relatively straightforward. They also helped me navigate an awkward neighbour and access to their land (we wanted to install a cable on a side wall). I'm grateful for that. The install was quick, very neat and tidy. The price was equivalent to the Octopus quote but with much better service. Essentially we were holding back on getting it done because it’s difficult to know who might be cowboys in this fast-growing market, but we’re very happy we chose this small, owner-managed business to support. Further details: - We heard of the Solar Co because a neighbour got solar panels done by them and was happy with them - I had A LOT of questions and reservations about the process but George (the company is run by George and Mark) was more than happy to answer all of them - clearly and usefully! - via WhatsApp and over the phone - They’ve provided us with app access so we can get on with buying electricity from and selling electricity to the grid - the returns on this are much better than you might have been led to believe so the payback time for solar panels is much quicker than I thought. The key is a flux tariff - George can provide more details - We also spoke to Octopus but it seems that they weren’t interested in our business because they just didn’t call back once they knew the spec (high roof, and slightly awkward panel position over a pipe vent) - apparently it’s quite common for them to not be interested in even slightly complicated installs - They also cleared our gutters and removed some annoying, useless cables from the side of the house that have been bothering since we moved in! Just a nice touch - We also coordinated it with George so that the scaffolding is being left up for a few more days so we can get windows done at the same time - this has been useful to us! He dealt with all the scaffolding - When the day for the install came, the 15 panels were delivered in the morning and the install and handover were complete by 2:30pm!! - Mark and George are both useful guys to have around and their team has done a very tidy job. Would recommend!

I chose The Solar Co because they are an independent local company, which as a company owner myself is crucial. They were recommended along with other companies, but their approach was second to none. My installation was slightly tricky due to the location of the panels on a remote building but this wasn't a problem for them at all. The installation was carried out on time, just 3 weeks from order to install and commissioning. George and Mark, along with their electrician Dan, had a professional approach throughout, were neat and tidy and they have provided excellent communication and support in the first couple of weeks as I get to grips with our system. While I try not to contact 24/7 their response time to emails is prompt and helpful. So, if you're thinking about solar, I'd also like to add that the return looks pretty decent. We have a lot of shade during the 2nd third of the day so although my roof is oriented South, they advised that we should go for an East-West back to back installation. It's October but we're producing almost all the electricity we require. I'm really happy and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Solar Co

I wanted Solar panels with a battery installed, however, who do I go to? Octopus and Heatable have their online quotes but their quotes don't include bird protection or any of the miscellaneous stuff. I reached out to George at Solar Co. and he offered to drive over, he sent up his drone to look at the roof and later that day he sent over his quote with the elements he would install. After I called him several times to check on this and that, we agreed a price. On installation day all elements of the Solar Co Team were polite professional and helpful. Nothing was a challenge for them. George called in throughout the day to ensure the project ran on time without any hitches. The day after the installation, George emailed me my certificates and licences for selling to the grid. I am very pleased I went with a local business and went with Solar Co (George & Mark) I would happily recommend Solar Co to anyone.

Normally when you plan something you get to pick 2 from on time, on budget, on spec. However with SolarCo they proved to be the exception and you get all three. I am beyond impressed, every interation I've had with them from initial meeting and survey with drone to get an accurate plan of the roof, through quote and detailed explanation of it and options available to the actual install has surpassed my wildest expectations based on previous interactions with other tradesmen. The team that turned up to do the install reflected the interations I had with the company up to this point, they were professional, quick and tidy and more impressively, proud of the work they did producing an install that you would expect to see as a show install. Looking for a solar installer can be a bit of a minefield, and despite The Solar Co not being exactly local to Surrey, they had great reviews, good accreditation with the professional bodies (MCS and HIES), and most importantly were immediately responsive and keen to quote. George did a detailed survey on site (using a drone to get a good aspect on the roof) and modelled an installation to make the best of a complex roof surface which Octopus' own installers wouldn't consider. The proposal was extremely professionally presented with multiple options, in line with the MCS's best principles, and it was competitively priced against other installers whose proposals were entirely assessed remotely, based on a combination of Google and my own photography - no substitute for The Solar Co's in person approach. The timescale from survey to installation was impressively short, and all went to plan. The installation team overseen by Mark arrived on time, and were unfailingly friendly and efficient. The whole job was done in a day (14 panels, inverter and a large 15.5kWh battery) and the cabling is a work of art - I can see why other reviews highlight the neatness, and I'm very proud to show the setup off to visitors! Since the installation, Mark and George have both helped with questions and configuration of the inverter, and have delivered all the relevant documentation including certification and DNO notification and G99 application, enabling me to apply for an export tariff. Overall a very positive experience with full service, and I would encourage anyone a for a reliable and efficient solar installer in the London area (and beyond) to get in touch with Mark and George.

Solar co installed our system last year. 17 panels, 2 batteries and a zappi car charger. Their prices seemed reasonable and in line with competitors. The installers arrived at the stated time and worked hard to ensure the entire installation was done in one day. The guys were polite , tidy and hard working. The system needed an update on the software and this was done the following day. The system has been working well with the battery back up allowing us to store excess for the following night. The Solar Co installed panels and batteries for my house. My electricity bill has gone from £442 last April 2023 (I know) to under £40 in April 2024. I reached out to them as they were (1) local to where I reside (2) reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I’m pleased to say my experience matched this. After an initial consultation call, George modelled out what size system would be needed based on my actual usage, the ROI based on different battery set ups and how long it would take to break even. It depends on a lot of variables, but for me, it’s around five years. Installation was done around six weeks later. Took a few days, and we opted for the panels to be integrated. Despite the cost, very happy with the decision as they look awesome. They advised on the tariff to maximise our return based on having two EVs. We actually got air con installed alongside it, by their sister company. Also very positive and now we are ready for some decent weather. George and Mark were decent chaps and would recommend using them.

We've been considering installing solar for a while and final decided to get some quotes. We selected the Solar Co as one of four firms to get a quote from. The quote was very competitively priced, but also for a larger system than the other quotes. Really can't recommend George and the team enough. They have been both quick and responsive to the many questions I have raised. The install itself was done very quickly and to a very high standard with the finish being really neat and tidy. I was especially impressed that George was on site to monitor progress, both with the install itself, but also the erection of the scaffolding. I wouldn’t normally bother to write a review for anything. But in this case when your paying out so much money for a solar installation, it might really help someone to select a team that actually do know what they are doing. I’ve been in electronics and computing for over 40 years, and I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it fitted, the reason I wanted someone else to fit it, was I wanted to save all that VAT. It took me over 10 months to find some able to put in what I wanted and feel confident that they really understood the kit that they were fitting, a lot of the people you find out there are just fitting the kit by following a set procedure and really don’t understanding why certain things need doing , and if it goes wrong it can easily end up being bodged, and you won’t know if its been bodged, you may just end up with an under performing system with faults all the time, but at worst case it could be dangerous, incorrectly fitted panels can be a major fire hazard it will cost you a lot more to get it fixed than to have it done properly. I really do recommend that you get these guys in to help you decide if it’s the right thing for you, they are not going to tell you to fit anything unless it would be worth you spending the money. After sitting down with them you will soon tell that they are the right people for the job, I can’t stress it enough, ‘they know what they are doing!’ it’s a big investment so invest in the right people for the job
