Well what can I say. We were hoping for a great experience and that is exactly what we got. Right from the start Andy & Bella answered every email and question we had (and there were lots of them). When the installation days finally arrived the four young men that arrived were every bit as professional, courteous, polite and considerate as anyone could have wished for. They worked through the rain (because obviously after all that sunshine it rained when it was our turn for the installation) and never once complained about it. We got many quotes and spoke to lots of different companies. We chose Alps as they were a local family business with their own install team. We have not regretted our decision and Alps have been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. No sales pressure and Andy worked with us to create a solution that worked for us. We recently used Alps Electrical to install a Fox battery alongside our existing solar panels, EV charger and heat pump. I cannot recommend Alps electrical more . Exemplary service from initial consultation (when I was tired from just moving in and needed help!) to the job being completed. Initially, great reviews and evidence of excellent workmanship and commitment through various media but clinched by enthusiasm for the product, an in-depth proposal based on my required specification, a fair price and being local. Isabella and Andy advised me on options and made all necessary provision for regulatory requirements. Installation was seamless, from scaffolding through to complete kit, the team worked very well together and the end result very aesthetically pleasing. From X Factor to Solar Power — and Outstanding at Both ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After deciding to go solar, I contacted four installers. The first sent an automated reply promising someone would be in touch — that was early November. It is now the end of March and I am still waiting. The second sent a basic quote without asking a single question about our situation. The third was Octopus Energy — around £500 more than Alps, and I had no idea who would actually turn up to do the work. Then there was Alps — a genuine family business run by Andy and Isabella Pemberton. What you might not know is that Andy came third on The X Factor in 2005 as part of the duo Journey South, but by the age of 20 he was already a fully qualified electrician with over 30 years of experience across domestic, commercial and industrial sectors. I'd also found a Teesside Live article from December 2020 about Andy helping a retired Stockton couple left with a dangerously botched fuseboard installation — he recruited two other electricians via a Facebook appeal and they all did the entire job for free, just days before Christmas. That kind of character is hard to fake and told me everything I needed to know about who I was dealing with. Andy suggested Sigenergy over Tesla and left the decision entirely to us. We did our research and made our own choice — and there turned out to be a very sound technical reason why Sigenergy was right. We needed four inverter inputs for four separate roof orientations including the garage. Tesla only has three. Sigenergy has four. Without that the garage panels simply wouldn't have been possible. What followed was three months of careful planning and numerous emails, every single one answered in detail — and I asked a lot. Alps arranged both a roofer — our brittle slate roof needed significant work before panels could go on — and a structural engineer, whose report passed without issue. Nothing was rushed or cut short. Then came the DNO battle. Northern Power Grid restricted us to a maximum 4kW export and insisted on an 8kW inverter — which only has three inputs. Isabella wasn't having it. She rang them, made the case clearly and firmly, and won approval for the 10kW inverter we needed, with the 4kW export cap remaining in place. Without her persistence we'd have ended up with a significantly smaller system. That single effort alone was worth its weight in gold. The installation took place in truly awful weather — snow, strong winds and torrential rain across the week. Luke and Chris tackled the roof rail fitting on our very brittle slate roof with real care and skill, which in those conditions was no small thing. Brad and Leo deserve a medal — on the final day they battled wind and rain that would have sent most people home. At times they looked like drowned rats but just kept going. Their determination was something we genuinely admired. Rather than run cables along our stone wall — which would never have looked neat — Leo dug a trench, ducted everything underground and replaced the turf so cleanly you'd barely know it had been touched. Alps also installed a Zappi EV charger in the garage and ran ethernet out there too, all done with the same care as the rest of the job. Behind the scenes Isabella kept everything running smoothly throughout — texts, emails, phone calls, reorganising plans when the snow arrived and adapting again when my hospital appointment forced a last-minute schedule change. That kind of calm, proactive communication makes a huge difference. At the end we received a professionally bound handover pack containing all the documentation, certificates, warranties and commissioning checklists — a really thorough way to wrap things up. In the 16 days since installation we have not imported a single unit of electricity from the grid. That says everything about the quality of the system Andy recommended and the team installed. After having difficulty in getting someone to replace my inverter, Bella at Alps Electrical was so helpful on the phone and gave me confidence that the problem would be sorted. I Used Alps electrical 15 months ago to install and battery and solar system (reviewed on here) and based on that work I was happy to use them for my EV charger install. They are a very approachable company, carry out quality work, respect your house and make sure that what they are doing is exactly what you want both before and during installation. The information received about the proposed solar project was very thorough allowing us to make an informed decision on the design of the system with help from Andy and Bella. The workmanship was great and Andy even tidied part of our garage. Very happy with the Fox battery system which should give us a option to add further batteries if required. Just had 14 panels and battery system installed by Alps electrical and couldn't be happier, two days and done and dusted, professional from start to finish. EV Charger This was the second job AE came to complete at my house. The first was an amazing solar and batterystorage system. This time round they installed a Myenergi Zappi EVcharger. The guys installed in half a day, were clean and tidy and were professional throughout I recall my neighbour having his EV charger installed by British Gas. That guy was there all day and even came back the following day to finish off. That says it all. Thanks Alps 😁👍

I'd been researching solar and battery systems for around a year, most of which was done watching YouTube videos. That's where I found Alps Electrical and Andy's informative movies. It's the first time YouTube advertising worked for me. I contacted them and Bella helped with all the questions and promptly responded to everything I needed to know. We agreed on the size and price of the system, and two weeks later, an installation date was set. Despite the cold weather at the time the install was done in 3 days. Very, very impressed with the professionalism of Alps. Highest recommendations!

I would highly recommend Alps Electrical. I got their details from Checkatrade. I’m buying a house which needed an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) which was highlighted on an earlier survey. From the moment I spoke with Bella in order to get a quote for the service it was obvious that Alps are a highly professional and competent organisation. Bella talked me through the service, quickly gave me a quote, arranged for me to pay securely, and then contacted the estate agents to arrange the date to carry out the report. This was arranged within a week and the report was delivered to me promptly. I then spoke with Andy who explained the highlighted areas in layman’s terms. I now have a quote for the work required and will be using Alps again when we move into the property. All in all I am thoroughly impressed with Alps.

Andy, Leo and Bella make an excellent team. Changes in installation rules and bureaucracy of energy supplier made for a delayed start on the job but once underway it was completed in a couple of days. Polite, pleasant. knowledgeable and competent. The neatness of the installation has been admired by all who have taken an interest and looked at it. Post-installation queries have been quickly handled and resolved. In the month since 'switch on' less than 1% of our electricity has come from the grid!

Great service and support with our battery storage installation. We originally wanted solar but it wasn’t suitable. Andy was very good with no hard sell. He explained the possibility of using battery storage and using overnight tariffs. Very quick clean and efficient. A great job.

I’ve used the company twice now, initially for a solar/battery installation and then an EV charger install. Communication from start to finish was faultless. Bella and Andy ensured all the relevant applications were completed a head for the install. The scaffold was installed a day before the install and then removed the day after completion. The install went faultlessly with the team working long hours to ensure it was finished on time. Excellent, professional and friendly service. I had 8 solar panels and 4 batteries installed all in a day. I knew I wanted solars - but hadn't got a clue how to go about it. Scottish Power (my previous supplier) were hopeless at advising me. So with Alps, the planning, fitting and aftercare service was faultless - including negotiating the specialist energy contract with Octopus Energy. I felt very safe and reassured by the whole process. If you are thinking of solar panels - with or without battery storage - don't hesitate to contact Alps Electrical. As someone who's done up a number of properties over the years, I've got through a fair number of electricians.
