A great service from this company from start to finish. Communication was excellent at all times and we felt that our system had been designed bespoke around our needs. We were keen to use a local company who would have most to lose if they did a poor job, and most to gain from recommendations if they did a good one. A competitive price for our solar panels and battery, was followed up by a very efficient installation. The lads who came to do the job were polite, efficient, knowledgeable and very tidy in their work. The whole thing was up and running in 4 hours. We are already seeing the benefits within the first month and have changed our domestic routines so that we run power-hungry appliances during the day when the panels are generating the most output. Watching the app is better than TV! If you are thinking of going solar, I have no hesitation in recommending Sustainable Energy Engineering and indeed have already done so to several friends.

I had a New system Installed by Sustainable Energy on the 3rd September 2026. They did a previous instal in 2017 and I was impressed then and again asked them to do my home battery upgrade. They are professional, courteous & tidy workers. Competitive on price without any corner cutting. Iave now used them for 2 installs at my home and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Solar Battery and Emergency Power Supply Installation. Had really great service from the Sustainable Energy Engineering team from initial enquiry to installation. Adam, Ben and Dan who fitted the system were excellent, they worked efficiently, cleared up at the end of the job and were polite, friendly and informative about what the installation involved. There were a couple of glitches at the end of the installation which could not have been anticipated (a fuse blew on our alarm system following the switch back to mains power after testing of the EPS). This resulted in the alarm going in to "Tamper" mode, the alarm battery power was also very low. This meant that the alarm would go off periodically and we couldn't reset it. Adam did everything he could to try and fix the problem but in the end we concluded it would need an alarm specialist to fix it. Adam tried to find someone that could help, and we did find someone who came out and fixed the problem later the same day, so all ended well and I really appreciated all the efforts Adam made to fix the problem. I was also very impressed that the boss, Steve, called later to check that we had resolved the issue with the alarm and that the installation had gone smoothly. The system has now been up and running for around 3 weeks and is working perfectly - all our electricity has essentially come from cheap off peak-charging of the batteries at night with a top up from our solar panels - we set up the system so that there was always enough capacity left in the batteries after mains charging to make use of 100% of our PV generation. Would definitely recommend the Sustainable Energy Engineering Team

We selected SEE following an installation they completed for our neighbours which they were very pleased with. SSE performed a survey on our house and provided a clear quotation for the supply of solar panels and batteries at a competitive price. Their owner - Stephen - was very knowledgable and easy to talk to. The installation was completed in one and a half days and all work was neat and tidy. Their team were polite and efficient. Following the work the scaffolding was removed the following day and paperwork necessary for joining an exporting scheme was provided within two weeks. The system is working very well and the guarantees provided are very comprehensive. Following an internet system upgrade we had a new router installed. Sustainable Energy Engineering were very helpful in their advice for getting our system (solar panels, inverter and batteries) connected to the new router which included excellent support from FOX ESS who manufactured the equipment. Three years after installing the equipment its great that SSE’s support for us us as good as ever.

Steve came out after I called his company because my solar panels stopped working. He took time to explain what was wrong and gave me a quote and time the work was to be done. He also gave me some options to add a battery to my system and a few alternative quotes to suit my financial plans. This is a family business and it was Steve’s sons who came to replace my inverter which had failed. The lads arrived on time and worked without stopping until the system was up and running. They were very friendly and left everything neat and tidy when they left. I am very pleased and would recommend this company if you are looking for anything solar or a battery installation.

Due to an unruly body of water I've had the rare pleasure of living with my system (well...at least half of it) for a few months before the job was fully completed. I was already happy but, now that I have all my certs, MAPN etc. and everything is up and running, I am delighted, zero complaints. Engineers were knowledgeable, courteous and good craic. Management? Same, plus a degree of flexibility and understanding when you, for example, tell them that the water that runs along the side of your property would be: "....ah yeah, all dried up by February, no worries..." ...in fact, wasn't, still hasn't. Whoops. I'm not guaranteeing that you can make a not-so-insignificant mistake, and they'll just handle it for you, but they did for me! My roof is full, but if I ever need more batteries I'll be back, and should they ever diversify into water wheels I will know who to call.

It has been a pleasure working with Sustainable Energy Engineering. I chose this company because they are local and because of their previous excellent feedback. I wanted a local company in case of future issues, but I don’t need to worry about that. Solar power system and battery installed and commissioned within 7 weeks of initial enquiry. The quote for 12 solar panels, a large capacity battery, scaffolding was extremely competitive. On the day, the team of lads turned up on time with 2 vans, were extremely curtious and kept us up to date with what was going on. Having had solar power at my previous address, I can state that the work carried out was too a seriously very high standard. The lads even noticed a tile broken by the scaffolders and fixed that on site. The whole thing took a full day but was worth it. The team leader, took me on a walk around post commission, talking me through everything and then helped set up my monitoring app before he left. The whole area was cleaned up and no mess left. Scaffolding was removed 2 days later. The required install documentation was also available immediately after the final payment made. From initial discussions with the boss, through to office comms and dealing with the install, it has been an easy painless journey and I cannot praise this company enough. From competitive price, through to speed of install and the high quality of work done, this company is unbeatable. I’m already saving lots of money on electric bills and have already started the process of getting paid for giving excess power back to the grid. Using this company to take you through a cost saving venture like this is a no-brainer. June 2026 - UPDATE Came back to Sustainable Energy Engineering for an EV Charger install a year after my solar power and home battery install. Arrived on time and completely professional as usual. Now charging my new electric car from home using the power from my solar panels and making tremendous savings on my utility and car fuel bills. These guys are extremely busy but still find the time to resolve any potential snags or issues, which are dealt within a timely manner. This is the second time I've used Sustainable Energy Engineering, having solar panels installed on my previous house in 2022. As I was very happy with the service and a competitive quote, I decided to use them again for a 12 x 500w panel installation with 11 kWh battery, 6kW inverter and grid gateway switch, together with installation of my ev charger. All aspects of the work from initial survey and quotation from Steve, being kept up to date from office staff through to instalation by the team was done very professionally. Would definitely recommend this company.

We used Sustainable Energy Engineering to install a solar and battery system in our home. We chose Sustainable Energy Engineering as they are a North East based company. Unlike other companies, they do an in person consultation (rather online only), this allowed them to assess the installation requirements at the property. We needed extra scaffolding as it was a three story property. The install took 2 days - the installers were polite, professional and tidy. The paperwork was provided shortly after installation- allowing us to register the system with our Energy provider who have already set up our exprt tariff. We wouldn't hesitate to reccommend Sustainable Energy Engineering.

Had my solar and battery system installed by Sustainable Energy Engineering just over a month ago and I've been really pleased with the whole thing. I got a few quotes from other companies but ended up going with them because they're local and were competitively priced. The system they fitted is exactly what I wanted. 12 x 500W panels (6 east-facing and 6-west facing), giving 6kWp, plus 11.52kWh of battery storage. I was especially happy that the inverter can be integrated natively within Home Assistant too - this gives me detailed monitoring, control and automation instead of relying on the standard app (which in fairness, is perfectly usable too). Since it was installed I've already generated over 700kWh - more than I can even try to use! Once Northern Powergrid sort the export MPAN I'll start getting paid for the excess too. The installers were friendly and polite, worked tidily around the house and garden, and left everything clean. Best of all, the scaffolding was down within a week with no chasing needed, and all the certificates and paperwork came through quickly afterwards. I'd seen solid reviews before choosing them and I'm happy to add my own. Fair price, good kit, and decent service. Would definitely recommend them if you're looking at solar or batteries.

The two technicians who fixed the fault on my solar panels were very good. They explained what the problem was and how they were going to fix it. The gave clear instructions on what to do if the problem occurred again.

In 2026: My solar panel and battery system installed in 2024 by Sustainable Energy Engineering Ltd developed a fault. I immediately sent a safety procedure question to the company, and in an immediate reply the company refused to answer the question. Subsequent correspondence revealed that the company had been stung by my 2024 2-star rating and review (as below). Worse, in April 2026 I have received written personal abuse from within management at Sustainable Energy Engineering. Some element of management at the company has lapsed into a very aggressive and insulting denial of criticism. I have been in contact with the trade associations/ regulators to which Sustainable Energy Engineering answers. I'm also weighing the written email abuse received against the UK legislation which criminalises certain aspects of false and malicious electronic communication. ... 2024, previously: technically excellent and competitively priced, but significantly sloppy on some aspects of communication with client. The firm isn't properly open to the idea of leaving the customer with a clear account of procedures and the installed system. Very frustrating. And the management tends to be patronising. I've chosen another firm for my next project.

A smooth process from initial enquiry to installation, solar and battery fitted a month early. The team came out explained everything and got to work with minimal disruption. Professional and friendly service. The only criticism I had was the scaffold contractors lacked the same professionalism, chucking garden furniture out of the way and smashed a glass table and didn’t say anything, apart from that I’m really happy with my set up.

Having initially had a previous installation of PV Panels and Inverter in 2015 by Steve from Sustainable Energy Engineering, i decided to upgrade to a Battery and Hybrid Inverter. The whole process once again from quotation to installation was smooth and professional without any concerns. Adam & Ben who carried out the installation completed all work with set up and a final tuition on the Fox App. Final installation was neat and all areas left tidy. Sustainable Energy Engineering Ltd have just finished the installation of 11 integrated solar energy panels on my roof. I needed to have my roof retiled and decided that this was an opportunity to instal photovoltaic panels as part of the work. From the initial consultation through to the commissioning of the system after two days on site, the team (a family-based business) provided an excellent and professional service. Their work installing the switchgear etc and the roof installation is extremely neat and tidy – and the team were amenable to my wishes to conceal the wiring connecting the two sets of panels (One on the garage roof) to the battery and inverter inside the garage. I found the initial consultation and the briefing about the equipment and Apps after commissioning very helpful. Their proposal and execution were of the highest standard. Their flexibility in visiting the site to coordinate with my holidays etc and to work in with the roofers was excellent. They arrived and departed as agreed – an excellent team.

I phoned several times Sustainable Energy and had all my questions fully answered. We had a site survey and there was no pressure to buy, so we were able to make the most suitable choice when it suited us. Installation was about 4 weeks ahead, and several days before then the scaffolders came. As arranged 3 staff came and did the installation that day. They were impressive, because although they each had separate jobs, they all co-ordinated well as an efficient team. The job only took 4 or 5 hours and when they left we had a fully functioning system that had been demonstrated and explained. I paid the balance and the ‘paperwork’ was immediately sent to us. The network operator completed authorisation quickly, and so 3 weeks after installation our system was approved and EDF our energy provider started paying us. Surprisingly easy and efficient! Our solar and battery has been installed for nearly 2 months now. The process with Sustainable Energy Engineering couldn't have been any smoother, from initial contact with about a quote, to the day of install. We had 10 panels fitted and a Foxx ESS EP11 battery and inverter. The installers on the day worked non stop and you wouldn't know they had been since everything was cleared up before leaving. All relevant documents sent out quickly after the install to get our SEG tariff set up. The scaffolding was taken down a few days after the work was complete which wasn't an issue either. Very pleased with the service and from a great local family run company. Another family member had also used Sustainable Energy Engineering also who recommended them to me. Thanks to the whole team.

Since contacting Luke at the office, receiving an initial quote, then a site visit by Steven and a confirmation of costs, Then the Contract was agreed and The G99 application made was all within a week. The only problem I had was with the National Grid for the DNO licence, this was delayed and set back the installation date. Luke juggled things about and managed to reschedule the installation for 3 weeks later. I think it was like a massive game of Jenga, as the delay from the National Grid was not only effecting me. I really appreciated the efforts made to get my installation back on track. On the day the lads turned up, they were very polite and friendly and did a cracking job, 22 panels, a large battery back up and gateway fitted in two and a half days. Well done and thank you to all the team, including back at the office, as if I had any questions, they were dealt with straight away. The only thing I am waiting for now is Octopus Energy to get their finger out and get my export license sorted, how long does it take, as I’ve sent them all the relevant certificates and letters etc. The problems I’ve encountered throughout this journey are both out of Sustainable Energy’s control, their part was delivered perfectly. Finally, talk about being a family business, all of Stevens kids are involved working together. Hi would highly recommend them.

Good professional job with excellent communication. We received sensible advice and had a new inverter fitted. The engineer arrived when he said he would and did a tidy job.

I found SEE thought a recommendation as well as looking at reviews on line. That they are a family business and have a track record gave me confidence that they were invested in quality work and longevity. Everything that I'd hoped for was realised, from the first call through survey, quotation, planning, installation to receipt of the certificates has been exactly what I'd hoped for. Efficient communication, clear explanations (I'm no electrician) accurate planning and installation on time and done quicker than expected. Work was clean and tidy and all the lads were pleasant and courteous throughout. I had 18 500W panels and a 10KW battery fitted and am boring the hell out of my family with 15 minute updates on the status of the battery, sun and cost savings. In what seems like the Wild West when it comes to solar installation the team have made it simple and I'm confident that they'll be around to answer my stupid questions as and when needed.

A couple of teething problems were rectified promptly and professionally within two days. After the installation, there was an issue with my EV charger - it wouldn't cooperate with the solar system. We were badly let down by a different company who made a poor job of installing our solar system and failed to provide an MCS certificate and other documentation we needed to be able to export electricity to our energy provider. We contacted Sustainable Energy Engineering Limited for help and Steve came out promptly to inspect the system. He spotted various things wrong with it and clearly explained the issues to me. E.G. the battery and inverter had been sited flush with each other, leaving no space for heat dissipation and the battery was incorrectly installed so it never discharged power to the house. Adam and Josh came to do the work a short time later and they did a fantastic job. They were friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful; a credit to the company. I was very happy with the service we received and would highly recommend this company to others.

I have been very happy with Sustainable Energy Engineering. They have recently installed a 14 panel (7 kWh) solution including a 10kWh battery. Luke came out to give an in person survey and answered all my questions. There was no heavy sales push. The installation went to plan without any problems. Their staff were very pleasant and tidied up well at the end. Scaffolding went up a day before and came down a couple of days after without incident. I would recommend SEE to anyone.

I considered a number of different companies for the supply and installation of solar panels and battery. Many companies that are national use sub contractors for the installation work which I wasn’t keen on. Sustainable Energy Engineering are a north east company who have been in operation for a number of years with a proven track record - and they install using their own teams. From initial consultation to completion of the work everything went extremely well. There was no hard sell or salesmen blether. Their pricing was very competitive. The installation work was quick, efficient, tidy and professional. Definitely one company to consider if you are interested in solar power. Highly recommended!

A third installation from this excellent company. We've already had solar panels installed, and then had a battery system put in ... now we have had an EV charger installed. It was a no-brainer to come back to these people who always do a fantastic job. From the initial enquiry right through to the follow-up care, they make things very easy indeed. Discussing specification of the kit is easy and they are very helpful. Ordering is easy. They arrive on time and fully equipped. They do a great job during installation, clearing up after themselves and they help with checking things out - in this case an app had to be linked and the car charging had to be tested - all great and done with a smile. Even follow-up is great (we had a question about load balancing and whether the kit had been set up in the way we needed - we were assured that it had been done properly). All fantastic. We wouldn't go anywhere else for this sort of thing and we recommend them very highly.

Excellent Company who installed my solar panels and batteries system. I have a slate roof and was a little concerned that this would be a problem. However, when they came out to see me to check and measure up etc. they provided a really good quotation with a keen price and, put my mind at rest with regard to the slate roof. On install day a 'squad' of really proficient young men arrived and immediately set to work in the most organised manner I have ever experienced. All were polite and respectful, competent, experienced and qualified. They worked really hard to complete the work to schedule. After the system was commissioned they took me through its operation and helped set up my new mobile app. and internet connection describing in detail how I could get the best value out of this new facility. They provide all the required official documentation and steered me through the process of obtaining an export licence. A first class service and one I can highly recommend.

A professional organisation who recently upgraded my solar system. Would highly recommend. Great communication from start to finish. Exceptional installation team; Adam, Ben, Josh and Reece. The upgrade from a 5kW H1 inverter to a KH8 plus the addition of 10 x 440-watt Jinko Neo pv panels on west facing roof (total pv now 9.86 kW split between east, south and west facing roofs). Plus an additional 2.88 kW ECS2900 slave added to my existing stack giving a total of 17.28 kW battery power. Also fitted a Zappi at the same time.

16 panels and a 13.5kwh Powerwall 3 installed with automatic power backup and bird-proofing. Sustainable energy have done an incredible job, fitting it all within a couple days. Workmanship throughout is excellent and very tidy, the team are friendly and respectful, good efficient communication throughout the process. Sustainable Energy have done a great job of installing 11 panels, a 28kWh battery and 10.5kW inverter in our house, together with a manual changeover switch so the system can run the house in case of a mains power outage. They came round in person to advise which roofs to put the panels on - I had done extensive research and none of the other companies would come for a site visit before signing up with them. Our solar panel installation started tripping the RCD on the distribution board. I contacted them by e-mail describing the problem. A short while later I received a reply with some possible causes and what action to take. This resolved the issue. At no time did they ask for any payment saying they don't charge for unnecessary callouts. Their only request was that I leave a review if I was happy with the service. No problem.

Really pleased with my new solar system. We went for a 13 panel set up. They are a professional company who know what they are doing, there’s no pushy salesman. They come out to do a survey and give you clear info to make a decision. The installers are a great bunch of lads, they take care in their work and are tidy. I also saved nearly £3000 using them over a local company who also provided us with a quote.

It’s rare nowadays to receive totally brilliant service, but from start to finish SEE exceeded all our expectations. From the first enquiry to Luke, survey by Stephen and completion by an excellent team who completed the job in less than a day there were no problems. The on-site team were friendly, efficient and professional and left the house as they had found it. I had considered using Octopus but prefer to use local businesses wherever I can, and the reviews, specifications and price convinced me to go with SEE. I was delighted to have made that decision and would not hesitate to recommend them.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sustainable Energy Ltd. From the start and initial enquiry, the team have been very helpful and responsive to our questions. Nothing but praise for Sustainable Energy Engineering! Recommended by some neighbours and we've been really happy with them. We wanted a quite complex solar panel system, with panels on the house (slate roof) and on a detached garage...and a battery. They designed the system to include optimisers where we get a bit of shading and. linked the whole lot together. The installation was very efficient - took 3 days (including one where it poured with rain almost all day, so they did all the inside work then) - the lads worked really hard and were a pleasure to deal with.

SEE installed 18 solar panels on my roof in 2011 doing a great job. I had them back this year to fit 6 more panels with battery storage. Totally hassle free from planning the job to installation. Great friendly family ran business. Not one issue. All work done to the highest standard . Over a decade of experience and they did works and didn't pass it on to third party contractors so i got more for my money, a system twice the size of a nationwide energy supplier for less money means it will pay for its self in 7 years Because of money generated through surplus energy exported to grid. unlike the energy suppliers system estimated at 25 years to pay for its self. My house has ran 24/7 off sunlight or battery storage for past month and also exported over 500kwh to grid in that time. Using Sustainable Energy Engineering was a great choice. I have used Sustainable Energy Engineering three times over the past nine years, in 2015, 2020 and July 2024. I chose them in 2015 fairly randomly after looking online at various options. I chose them in 2020 and 2024 because of the excellent previous experience(s) of their work. Communication with them is simple and straightforward; they respond very quickly to messages sent. They perform a quick, efficient site inspection prior to starting a job, discussing and explaining relevant details. The work they did for me (twice installing solar panels and then fitting a storage battery) was performed in a very timely, efficient and cheerful manner. I have been very impressed with every aspect of their work. They listen to what you want, give advice, and don’t try to oversell. They do the job required quickly, cleanly and efficiently. They explain what has been done and invite questions. They are as helpful as they can possibly be. I would very strongly recommend SEE.

We had been recommended Sustainable Energy Engineering by family who had one of their systems installed. The whole process with Steve, Luke and the rest of the company has been an extremely smooth one. They produced an extremely competitive quote in comparison to other local trusted installers and discussed with us some options we had, explaining the benefits of each. Steve came out to see us (on my request) and diligently talked me through our options which led us to making a decision to go with them. There was no pushy salesman talk, just sound advice. We made a couple of changes to the system which required a G99 application to Northern Powergrid, the team had the paperwork off quickly which meant we could get the approval and make the install date we wanted! On the day of the install, the scaffolders arrived and were very efficient at getting the scaff up. The lads from Sustainable Energy Engineering arrived about an hour later and set to getting the roof work and cable runs sorted. They had a few bits to finish the next day but by midday our panels were producing and the site was tidy. The system has been working really well so far (Fox ESS 8.29kwh battery and 5kw inverter with 12x435w JA panels). We have also had great communication after the install. The handover pack was promptly sent following payment and the relevant documentation and notifications were present. So all in all, great pre-sales, great after sales, great installation and great post-install care. Thanks for all your hard effort guys!

I did loads of research before choosing Sustainable to fit/install my solar panels and battery. I promise you it paid off, from the start to finish this family run company nailed it for me. My installation was mid Feb 2024. I'm not originally from around the NE, and I decided to go with a local company which also had great reviews. Choosing them was the best thing I did and I can't rate them highly enough. (Sorry I forgot to put this review on sooner) apart from the good reviews previously, there are 3 reasons why I choose them, 1- good price for a good job, 2- SUS was one of a few company's that install a switch over switch, so I could, say in the event of a power cut, switch over and use my batteries power to run my house. (As a short term solution) for info, you can use your batteries power in the event of a power cut, for example, unless a switch over switch has been install as you need to isolate you from the grid. 3- local family run business was also a factor for me. Hope this review is helpful, as solar is worth having if you can afford it. I didn't take a loan but I still may have so go for it if you get chance. 5 Star review, thx for reading, Julian S. Sustainable Energy Engineering installed a 4KW system on my south west facing roof, as well as pigeon control. They were efficient and tidy and their communication is excellent. I have been getting excellent returns since they were installed.

We came to Sustainable energy on the recommendations of two friends who had their systems installed more than a year ago and were very happy. We have had excellent service. The whole team were polite, friendly and professional. They were very efficient and it only took around 6 hours work from arriving on site till our panels were producing energy and everything was tidied away and left as it was found. Stephen listened to our concerns and what we wanted from the system before giving us a number of options at differing costs at the start of the process. We also made a couple of modifications to the scope during the process and this was also not a problem for the team (or if it was we were never made to feel it.) A month down the road and we are very happy. The system is performing as expected and we have started to see the benefit straight away. If you are thinking of Solar Energy I can really recommend giving this team a call.

Sustainable Energy Engineering installed a 3.2kWp PV system with 11.6kWh of battery storage at our home in Stockton on Tees and did a great job. There was quite a waiting list (which I took as a good sign) and they arrived on the due date and got the whole installation done in a day. Since then our electricity consumption has plummeted, we are even able to pump some charge into our car on sunny days. The black solar panels blend in well with the roof. Our panels are the ones in the picture on the left - they did our neighbour on the same day as well. After the installation the various certificates and approvals were sent to us promptly. All in all a good experience. Edit: One year on: the PV system generated 4.1MWh over the year which is significantly more than the 2.9MWh forecast! Coupled with an air-to-air heat pump we bought separately, we also significantly reduced our gas central heating bill this last winter, by charging the batteries at night on Octopus Go and heating the house on battery power during the day. Didn’t think that would be possible but it worked! Very pleased with the installation.

I've just had a 9.03kw Solar System complete with batteries, fitted by Sustainable Energy Engineering and they have been a pleasure to deal with throughout the entire process. Everything was dealt with in a friendly and professional manner, from the straightforward quotation and initial information provided by Luke and Steve, right through to the completion of the installation. There were no high pressure sales or long appointments, then regular updates were provided as the installation date was getting nearer. The installation was completed in just over a day by Adam and his team, with a minimum amount of mess and disruption, with Adam fully explaining how the system worked and also setting up the monitoring app on my IPad. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this company to anyone considering the installation of solar panels.

Conferred well with the roofers in order to minimise double costs and to ensure work would be continuous. Once roof sorted, SEE ltd came the next day and installed the system. Adam was the star of the show. He introduced himself and explained what would be done and asked if I approved. The lads worked hard on the job and tidied up afterwards. Adam showed me the site Fox cloud to log into into monitor the flow of the energy. Cracking job. Very pleased with the system and the work done.

Professional electrical engineers well planned, installed, tested and certified to all standards as well as friendy, clean and carefull leaving the job and my home better and safer. We got quote through internet (very competitive as we got a few quotes) then Steve came out to survey the property and explained the best positions for the panels. The team arrived on interrelation day at 09.00 and we where up and running by 14.00. no mess and the team where very professional from start to finish. They answered all our questions. In January 2023 we had 12 panels and 2 batteries installed by this company. They were outstanding in every respect. We haven't needed much in the way of 'after sales' but on the odd occasion we have rung with a query, they have been excellent. The system actually out-performed the prediction by +£150 in the first year. We were so pleased with both the system and the company that we returned to them January 2024 to enquire about extending the system. They were all about what was best for me, the customer, not what was best for them as a company. They advised against my proposal (which involved more business and profit for the company) and told me straight what would be best for me. What a refreshing experience to deal with a company like that. We followed their advice and now have 16 panels and 3 batteries, at a competitive cost, and we are already delighted with how the system is functioning. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

After the initial installation of my Solar equipment, there followed a period when the inverter (Fox Ess) was believed to have a fault. 3 weeks later and after Fox having the installers jump through hoops, the inverter was changed. Since the change I have had no problems at all with the solar system. The installation was carried out quickly, efficiently, and with no mess left behind. Sustainable Energy were great and I have no hesitation in recommending them 100%.

The work was carried out promptly in a very professional manner with disruption kept to a minimum. My system is working perfectly. Solar panels and storage batteries installed by this family firm at a very competitive price, matched by an excellent standard of workmanship. Excellent customer service from the initial contact through to the actual installation. Four days after installation and we're totally self-sufficient for electricity. Pity we can't do the same for gas. All necessary paperwork sent through within a day or two, so the onerous process of signing up to get paid for the exported electricity can begin. A good company that takes pride in doing a good job and, unlike some of the other firms that I contacted for estimates, there was no hassle and incessant telephone calls. I have no hesitation in recommending SSE, just as they were recommended to me by friends for whom they had done similar installations.

Having shopped around local and national companies, the team at Sustainable Energy were miles ahead of everyone else. Nothing was too much trouble, they answered all of my questions, they didn't criticise other companies (unlike some others) and they came over as a very knowledgeable family firm. Although it has only been a week since it went live, I have hardly used any electricity from the grid. From a start point of not understanding solar power, the information given to me by the company at the outset helped me to gain a better understanding of how it all hangs together and now I can see it in action, everything they explained to me was accurate. I would not hesitate in recommending this well established local firm over the national companies who try warn you off 'small' companies, charge you more and just get your name on a contract. Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish and all done at a very realistic price by a very professional team of engineers supported by knowledgeable back office staff.

An excellent company! There was no hard sell - just an informative discussion re what was best for our needs. A very efficient team installed the panels and the battery, which was filling with up with solar energy by the end of the same day. An app shows us exactly what we're using, and when, and we're just about to export any excess to the National Grid. So pleased we've done it.

The other business were just cowboys so we cancelled and were lucky enough to be introduced to the amazing team at sustainable energy engineering. This team were just amazing! They worked non stop to make sure the job was completed to the highest standard. They were professional and were amazing at explaining what they were doing, why they were doing it, how it works etc. We've been obsessed with the app ever since and the ROI (return on investment) is incredible. If you don't have solar panels already all I can say is WHY??? Had a thermal solar panel that came with the house when we bought it. Thought it was about time we found out if it was actually doing anything. Sustainable Energy came out, found there was a problem and got it sorted out even though it's quite an old system. Very happy with the service received, turned up when they said they would and got it up and running again... at least I hope it's working, the sun hasn't shone since then!

I am very disappointed with this company, I asked them to identify a fault I have with my solar panels. They came to my house and it became very obvious the only thing they were interested in was to supply me with a complete new system, my system still has 3 years to run on the warranty and no real attempt was made at identifying the problem, at one point the engineer rather rudely told me to stop talking to him whilst he was working, he was not interested in listening to me, the customer. The fault could not be identified and no suggestion of a solution was made other than to have a complete new system. I called the owner of the company to ask what i should do next, he became aggressive and demanded the payment for the call out be made at once. There are plenty of companies offering their services and I will be looking for another one.

Very informative on the first phone call. Surveying agent was honest about what to expect and not expect from Solar. Fitting was within a month of enquiry and the installation was finished within a day. All certificates provided are digital which is a plus for me. They also beat all other quotes in the area.

The prospect of getting solar panels felt a bit daunting, but i had done a lot of research and felt it would be a good investment. My main concern was getting a system that would suit me and also the right company to do the work. The solar panels, inverter, batteries and changeover switch were installed about two weeks ago. The electricians and panel fitters were very friendly and helpful. There was a slight hiccup when the scaffolders erected the scaffolding in the wrong town. Anyway the electrics were installed on the agreed date and the panels two days later when the scaffolding eventually arrived. It was up and running by early afternoon. A very neat and tidy installation.

We found that a professional service was provided from the initial survey to the installation. When an issue arose (Not directly linked to the solar system) in which we were unable to reset our consumer unit after it had tripped, the company arranged to have somebody attend to address the issue. WE are entirely happy with the service and aftercare provided thus far.

We had to wait in line for our solar panels to be fitted, but it was well worth it. The first meeting with Steve Fairless set the professional tone, providing us with all the information and reassurance we sought. The installation process maintained the emphasis on an efficient but friendly approach. We were especially impressed by the smooth team-working, the quick and expert installation (completed in one day), and the tidy, polite, helpful, and considerate workers. This company was amazing from start to finish. Helpful, friendly, polite, professional and knowledgeable. The end result is better than I could have imagined. They managed to conceal all of the wiring, on the outside and the inside of the house (I'm totally OCD about wires so this really mattered to me.) I placed the order 7 months in advance and they turned up promptly on the exact date which they originally offered. Honest, trustworthy and reliable. Highly, highly recommended.

We had a PV & battery system installed about a month ago and are really pleased with the result! We booked the installation in last August and were fully informed about waiting times, figuring its better to wait a few months for a good job. The team arrived on the scheduled day - nice crew who got on with the job and were respectful of our home. They managed to get everything installed and tidied up within the day, with a short follow-up visit after the scaffolding had been taken down to replace a few tiles that had been broken. Most of the paperwork is sorted - just waiting on Northern Powergrid to do their bit - and since we have had the system fitted it's pleasing to see how much less electricity we are having to pay our suppliers for :). Definitely well worth the wait - just wish we had it done a few years ago.

Professional installation done within the day. Happy with the service from start to finish no pushy pre sales just options and quotes given, the install was tidy and cleaned up once finished and all the staff were polite and friendly. All in all a fantastic company and I would recommend them.

UPDATE: I am updating my review as I have now received all the relevant paperwork (6 weeks which apparently is quite normal)A slight issue with communication at the start. All issues have now been resolved satisfactorily so thank you Luke for bearing with me! Changed to 5* A great local firm! ORIGINAL: I chose sustainable energy after getting quotes from 5 different companies. I was impressed with the advice and information on my initial enquiry and no hard sell. It was only after I said I wanted to go ahead that I had a home visit and survey. An installation date was agreed which was earlier than expected. I was also impressed at the positive reviews and the great price. Deposit was only asked for a couple of days before Installation which was great apart from broken roof tiles and other rubbish being put in my garden bin! Although I'm pleased with the work and do recommend this firm, I was disappointed that after more than 5 weeks, no MCS certificate and other paperwork. I therefore cannot register for the SEG and get paid for excess energy.

After spending months convincing ourselves to go green and reduce these pesky fuel bills, we approached Sustainable Energy Engineering, as well as other companies in the North East, to make suggestions for a greener electricity supply. Within a couple of days we received a clear and concise quotation from Sustainable Energy Engineering listing three options, one of solar panels only and two with battery options. We got on with researching the proposal without any harassment from sales, our queries being quickly answered via text, phone and/or email which made the whole decission process relatively stress free. Installation day was impressive. It started at 8h30 and finished at 14h00 with our house no longer drawing costly electricity from the grid. Every member of the team knew what they had to do and just got on with the installation, cleanly and respectfully, very refreshing in this day and age. We did have a small glitch on the system after the install but that was rectified promptly. Choosing a local family business was a pleasant experience and not costly, long may they continue. PS. Today is a overcast rainy day, and we are generating electricity, something I did not expect, really impressive.

From initial contact through site inspection, quotation, contracting to installation and commissioning of the full system we can not fault the service provided by Sustainable. Everything arrived as promised, the installation team was courteous, efficient and tidy in their work. They listened to, and delivered the alternative option to cable routing, (to avoid disturbing our bat box) and installed everything with a high level of pride in their work. Solar is a large financial commitment and therefor high risk. We researched different suppliers and based upon other reviews started down the route with them. Steven's approach to information gathering and quote delivery confirmed what we had read so decision made. Whilst the changeover switch may seem an expensive addition it allows use of the battery power in event of a power cut so we would say it is essential in these unsure times.

Efficient, good clear and honest communication throughout. Arrive on time and completed work efficiently and cleaned up completely afterwards, despite weather being bad in the day. Good Friendly service at a competitive price. Follow up communication is very good. Highly recommend this local professional family company.

We had two quotes from National franchises for a 5kw array and 5kw battery. Both were for over £15k. We then asked for a quote from Sustainable Energy who we had known from neighbours did a first class job, but feared they would be even more expensive. Their quote? £9,600! The advantage of working with a local family business. They came on date agreed (because of a gap in their programme it was actually four months earlier than originally planned!) and did the whole job in a single day with minimum of impact on us. Polite, tidy professional. Battery not yet installed as they are dependent on when the supplier sends the next batch. Highly recommended. Top of the range system, professional at every turn (including being realistic about savings) and very good value for money.

The engineers came a couple of hours after scheduled, but they were very quick, efficient and clean. Would certainly recommend.

I have had a fantastic experience with Sustainable Energy Engineering! They are professional, knowledgeable and very approachable. The company responded to my initial query quickly and provided considered advice throughout, without pushing a product or solution. The company are clearly dealing with challenging business conditions and a difficult global supply chain but despite this, they installed my system much earlier than we agreed and it has been working fantastically well! The install team were equally professional, courteous and swift. They explained the situation well and left the house in a great condition after the install. The installation was over two mornings and completed with as little fuss as possible. All in all, I couldn't be happier!

Excellent installation and aftercare. Would recommend. We have 16 panels, 5Kw inverter and 17.5Kw batteries. Saving a substantial amount by storing off-peak electricity in the batteries and topping up during the day on solar. Almost no peak eectricty used since installation.

We are delighted with the installation of our solar panels. Sus Energy have been excellent from our first tentative enquiry to the commissioning of the system. There have been a number of difficulties and delays with the supply of several elements of the installation - totally outwith the control of Sus Energy - which were frustrating for us and them but communication was excellent, we were kept up to date and supply issues were explained honestly and clearly. Once work got underway we were very impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of both the scaffolding company and the lads from Sus Energy. Sus are a family business and it shows. They clearly care about their customers and want to provide the best possible service. We are very happy to recommend the company. Now we just need lots of sunshine.

Professional Installation, 18 panels with battery storage. Steve and the team seem to really know what they are doing engineering and regulation wise. Worked first time and are responsive to questions unlike my friend's installer who he has had endless problems with. Highly recommended.

From the quote to the survey to the installation these people know what they are doing. Further to my recent review, I can say that we had our solar panels cleaned and the inverter checked for efficiency and by Sustainable Energy , who were the installers of our system. The team that carried out the work were very good. Polite and super efficient, giving the system a clean bill of health. Since this 'service' our panels have been producing more electric daily than they did before. I have spoken with Sustainable Energy and was informed that they are extremely busy now, which is good to hear. I would use these again after my experience with them.

My solar panel system developed a fault. After calling a few places Sustainable Energy Engineering gave some great advice and arranged an appointment within 4 days, the guy turned up on the day, identified that it was a defective inverter and replaced it there and then. Couldn’t have asked for more. Excellent and efficient service.

We had a 4.38kW Solar PV installation at our home, and Steve and his team were very professional from start to finish. From explaining the options during the initial visit, to scheduling the work -- Steve made the process clear. During the work itself, the installation team were very respectful and professional, laying down mats to prevent our carpet getting dirty, and letting us know when the electricity needed to be turned off. A brilliant company - There were polite, prompt and efficient. They replaced the inverter in a matter of minutes. Their quote was cheapest of the three companies I tried and they took extra care to ensure that they didn't damage the fresh paint in my home.
