Can't recommend this guy enough. We had a urgent hot water issue and Wesseley was at ours within an hour on a Sunday sorting it for a very reasonable price. He was extremely thorough and insightful and we will definitely be using him again!

Mr. Wellesley Ford installed a dual-fuel cooker in my home, paying meticulous attention to detail and providing a wealth of helpful information. It's clear he's passionate about his work and takes it very seriously. I highly recommend his services, but please remember that perfection takes time.
I booked Wellesley from Green Star to carry out a gas safety check, but after confirming three separate appointments, he let me down all three times. • Friday 3rd October: He confirmed he’d be round after 1 PM but cancelled on the day, saying “Sorry, my job is running over today, and I won’t be able to make it.” • Friday 10th October: I chased him several times with no reply until 17:14, when he finally messaged “Sorry, off work this am, recovering. Then had a carbon monoxide incident. Delays possible. ETA 30–40 mins if they are still free.” Once again, he didn’t arrive. • Saturday 11th October: He said “I think I may have missed them. I can be free tomorrow anytime if needed,” so we rearranged for after 3 PM — but he still didn’t show up. He said he would be round all three times and let me down all three times. Each visit was confirmed and then cancelled or ignored at the last minute, wasting my tenant’s time and mine. After three missed appointments and unreliable communication, I won’t be using Green Star again. And the response from the owner Response from the owner 2 hours ago I sincerely apologize for missing these appointments. What began as feeling unwell on Friday escalated into a complete medical collapse on Saturday that left me physically unable to move or communicate - a genuine emergency situation. However, I must clarify the contractual position: Our Terms & Conditions, which you agreed to when contracting our services, require clients to contact us directly before posting public reviews (Section 5.3) and to use our dispute resolution process (Section 8.1). This allows us to resolve genuine concerns professionally and privately. You chose not to follow this process. Wellesley was great! Always responsive via text messages and never pushy. Very honest with his prices and a great worker. He replaced my dripping tap in only a few hours and checked the pipes, left the cabinet under the sink look neater than it was before. Will absolutely use his services again in the future.
One of the best plumbers I have met both in terms of competence and thoroughness. Wellesley is also very easy to deal which makes him the go-to plumber in Essex. I only wish I could take him everywhere!

Wellesley is very thorough and worked in great detail to diagnose the problem with my boiler, helped me source the parts and then came out late at night to fix everything and get it working and safety tested. He really knows his stuff and explains everything clearly, takes lots of photos so you feel confident in his work.

I consider myself one of the last to leave negative reviews but once in a while you get let down to the extent you feel that you need to make others aware and let them decide for themselves. As a previous customer, we were contacted via email by Wellesley to remind us of our annual boiler inspection/service. After a brief exchange of messages, a date and time was set and I kept the whole day clear as I know his services can be protracted. Wellesley was due to attend at 09:30 and by 10:00 there was no show and therefore I sent him a text asking for an ETA........no reply. By 10:30 there was still no show and therefore I tried to call him but it went straight to voicemail requesting that the caller sends a text instead.........second text message sent........no response. Later that day with still no communication received, I sent Wellesley an email requesting that he contact me at his earliest. To date ( a week later ) I have had absolutely no contact from him! I merely present to you the facts and provide no personal opinion. Needless to say we shall not be utilising GreenStar Powerflushing Services again.

Did an extremely thorough job checking through everything and got me up and running that night for a really good price, as well as explaining everything he was doing and making suggestions along the way. I have never heard of greestar powerflushing before but i googled the gas engineers with most positive reviews in my area and there it was. I had very bad experience prior to that with at least few engineers coming to my house failing to find a problem leaving us in a cold house but still charged me. When Mr Ford visited my house that cold evening first thing i noticed was that he was very knowledgeable. He explained things as he was doing it. He gave me a diagnosis and a full report. Only chrged a call out fee. But most of all he sorted the problem. I never had to call an Engineer for a very long time. We have been getting heating and hot water. I found Mr Ford to be the very few genuine, professional Engineers still operating in Colchester as a woman running a home I have been taken advantage by so called 'reputable gas companies' but the truth is they were not what they seem. If you are in Colchester please do not waste your time and money on these rip offs. Take your time and read about people's experiences. It saved me a lot with getting the best from Greenstar poweeflushing. I could not recommend the company more. I am such a happy customer!!!!! Mrs Prince, Mile End Colchester
Wesley has once again come up trumps, my boiler was overheating and failing but the issue has now been rectified, thanks to him.
I called up about a leak on Wednesday afternoon and was able to get assistance within two hours. The engineer was very thorough, transparent and knowledgable on plumbing, quickly resolving my issue and highlighting other things I should be aware of. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Transparent engineer with parts and labour. We have been using this service, for a new hot water cylinder, toilets, taps, guttering and my bath sealant hasn't moved or gone mouldy in 20 years. You can watch the work so you can understand the process. Will call again

Came home at 8pm on Friday night to find a huge bulge in the living room ceiling due to a leaking pipe. Wes was here in 30 minutes, and fixed it quickly with minimal hassle. A very knowledgeable and personable guy and I will have no hesitation in using him for further work in the future.
My gas cooker oven flame failure device stopped working and I contacted several heating engineers and only Wellesley from Greenstar would take on the task. Wellesley arrived the same day to diagnose the problem I ordered the part he found online when the part arrived Wellesley fitted the part now my 53cm wide gas cooker works again like new. Full gas safe check was also done on the cooker which gives piece of mind. The alternative was a new 55cm 50cm or 60cm wide cooker which would not be ideal. Wellesley is a very polite, efficient worker who enjoyed the challenge to fix the gas oven, very tidy working with no mess and the bill was very reasonable indeed. Very highly recommended.

I recently found myself in need of a gas safe qualified engineer to repair a 15 year old Rangemaster gas cooker. Searching on line locally I found several cooker repairers but none who were prepared or able to work on gas cookers. Eventually Wellesley was recommended and I called him, his instant and very welcome answer was "I can do that" I have since discovered that Welesley is a very knowledgeable gas engineer, and he works in a professional and competant manner, he fixed our cooker in short order and I'm pleased to say that it is now as good as new. Wellesley is now at the top of my contact list as first point of call for any future repair needs. I recommend his services.
I called Wellesley at 7pm on a Friday night as I had no heating he was here within 20 minutes. He was very thorough & did not leave until my heating was back on and he knew it was definitely fixed. He explained everything to me in detail. Very reasonably priced too. I would definitely recommend.
I have been having plumbing and heating work done by Wesley now for several years. Initially for an emergency boiler replacement and since then Wesley has been gradually working through the house resolving issues for me. The quality of his work is excellent and always good value for money. Wesley is my 'go-to' person for all plumbing and heating engineering work. If you're interested he will always take the time to explain the work that he is doing. Nothing seems too challenging for Wesley - in fact he seems to relish the more challenging jobs and continually amazes me with his expertise. He is very well qualified and has a wealth of experience and on top of this is a really nice guy. My dogs love it when Wesley arrives - they are top fans. I know if I have an emergency that I can rely on Wesley to be there to fix it for me.

Wellesley has done lots of work for us since 2014. He has amazing knowledge of the heating and plumbing world. He recently did a wiring fix on the airing cupboard, which was in a messy state. Fantastic job, and it worked very well after the fix. Super helpful and go-to man.

Once you start using his service, there's no going back. I repeat, there's no one else I will choose other than Mr.Wellesley himself. Wellesley has done lots of work for us over the last eight years or so. He has an amazing knowledge of a lot more than the heating and plumbing world which he brings to the job. Helped me work out the Materials I’ll need for the job, that’s if you wish to source them yourself. He even worked out the size of Radiators needed, So so Helpful.. couldn’t recommend Wesley enough. Any time or day you can call on him and he’ll, make it his priority to get to you As Soon As he Possible can, same day if needed.. he’ll be my first port of call when ever I come across any Plumbing issues.
Exceptional level of service. we have had so many different plumbing and heating engineers out, and they were unable to give us a prompt breakdown of their works, with a decent price without overcharging. He exceptionally busy and has been our heating engineer since 2003. Attentive and answered all of our questions intelligently, and simply, without any fluff like we've experienced presently. We have been left with an intermi system for ages... Our current issue seems to be an overheated 3 port valve, and he electrically tested it and the cylinder and room thermostat, and checked the heat output of the boiler. He also mentioned that we have no pump over-run, and the pump keeps cutting out when the boiler gets too hot. He correctly diagnosed it by limiting the boiler to 59'C, tested the bath and basin outlet temperature on the taps for compliance, to ensure the aqualisa shower didn't get too hot. He used the cylinder thermostat to control the pump and used the programmer to act as a pump over-run in the interim, within the timer programmes. No other heating engineer figured this out. If I could give 11 ✨, I would. Amazing.
Leaking toilet 5 stars I called wez out to fix my leaking toilet one evening he gave me a time of arrival and he was on time he was polite and efficiant and done a great job and was clean and tidy and left the home in a nice condition I would always use this guy again
I recently moved to Colchester and I've been so lucky to have come across Wesley. He was able to test and repair the advanced air source heat pump system that is installed at my property, without any trouble or excuses. He also went to great detail explaining how it works and how to use it properly. He is also very responsive, knowledgeable and clearly has great passion for his work, which means its always reliable and done properly! Simply put - Wesley is a fantastic plumber, a needle in a haystack Would recommend to anyone and rate 10 starts if i could 👏
Absolutely useless service. Had a boiler installed by WW, took over 24 hours in my building to change a like for like boiler and still wasn’t done correctly. ended up having to get someone to sort out all the mistakes WW made. Eventually had to get someone to replace the boiler as turns out it was hooked up all wrong. Wouldn’t bother wasting your time or money on amateur work at best.
I have used Wesley a few times now with issues to do with our boiler and fixing the bathroom. We had issues with our boiler last night and he was very responsive and came to have a look at it , he managed to resolve the issue and advise on the things to buy in order for it not to happen again. Would definitely continue to use Wesley again in the future.

Excellent service, serviced my boiler thoroughly (an older Aristan) and has given us invaluable advice, one time early in the morning @ 1am - my boiler decided to shut down one night, I messaged Wellesley for advice as it was -3 outside and he got back to us within 10 minutes and the problem was the sorted via messages. The next day he corresponded with us and we managed to realise what was going wrong and all was fixed.
Great service from Wesley. I had leaking taps quite late on a Sunday night. Wesley came over to fix my leak and get me through to the next day. He then returned the next day to complete the job with some extra parts. Also my extractor fan broke in the kitchen and he happily repaired that too. Great value and Great service.

I have been using Greenstar for just over 3 years now and can’t recommend them enough. Wellesley is very courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and a true professional. In the last 3 years he has attended 2 emergency call outs and provided a solution/fix. On a recent occasion he serviced the boiler, taking time to explain various aspects and giving me an honest feedback on the condition of the boiler. The service provided was at a reasonable fee. He isn’t one of those traders who charge extortionate prices for emergency call-outs. He has been completely transparent and took the pain to list all the parts needed for a future boiler and hot water cylinder replacement, getting me a quote for the same so that I can plan this for future.
An exceptional standard of customer care. Employed as an emergency call out for leaking toilet, which was fixed swiftly. He gave quick and true quotes for the work which was required. These didn’t vary. Meticulous in his execution, delivering constant images and videos giving me, the landlord, assurance throughout the time he was there. The aftercare was above standard, no waiting for invoices he emailed it within mins of completing work. Very efficient.
Wes has been our plumbing engineer (so much more than just a 'plumber') for five years. Wes works until the job is done. He takes huge pride in his work, scrupulously records all of his work and seems incapable of taking advantage of our total ignorance! He is the most decent and straightforward man I know. The fact that he is also a qualified electrician is great because he does not need to sit around waiting for lesser professional to start sucking his teeth and bemoaning whatever it is he is looking at.

Though immediately unavailable, he responded promptly via text and offered to visit out of hours given we had no hot water. He attended the following day and was as efficient as always identified the cause of the exact cause of problem and returned/refunded costs for unused parts. Wes was professional, friendly and thorough, couldn't really ask for more.

My awkward bath with faulty taps and broken drain. The bath tabs changing process was not an easy job. Wellesley took the job and it was painful to seen him go under the tub to gain access, changed the old rusty pipes and fixed the drain. Hats off to him 👏 for fantastic job. Very reasonable pricing.
My boiler had an error code come up on Sunday and I had no heating or hot water. I waited until Monday and called Wellesley and he came out within 30mins. He was able to get the boiler back online by replacing a value which he ordered from a local supplier and gave me the number to pay for while he picked it up to keep things transparent. He said didn't like other tradesmen who charge you extra for the parts. He made sure the pipe the value attaches to was fully clean and had special tools to fix this and clean the threading on the value. Would definitely use him again as was so helpful coming out so quickly and getting it fixed (was surprised this close to Christmas to get anyone out). He also done a great job and offered some recommendations for getting and fitting a new boiler as mine quite old and could do with replacing. Overall great job and service, thanks Wellesley!
I'm no expert in plumbing and I'm so glad I called Welsey at Greenstar! He was quick to respond, provided so much insight and a number of options I could choose to solve our problem. I had a leaking hot water pipe alongside a leaking tap and Welsey went above and beyond to make sure our system was in a good place before he left. The previous plumber left an atrocious botch job on our pipe work!!! A week and a half later, we are so impressed with the difference his work made. Would highly recommend and hire again.
Wesley is a professional plumber, I had him come replace and reposition my radiator, he gave attention to details, took pictures for records as he worked through every step of the process. Wesley installed two new water tanks in my loft as the previous ones had been extremely badly installed and there were no overflow pipes which meant water was getting into my brickwork and soffits. It was not an easy job and very time consuming but Wesley’s attention to detail and professionalism was second to none. He also used the best of materials and undertook his work in a clean and tidy manner at all times. I would not hesitate to recommend Wesley and willl certainly use him again should the need arise.o

We found Wellesley on Wivenhoe forum. He is an absolute pleasure to deal with, both because he he is a very nice person, but more importantly because he knows his trade inside out. Wellesley takes Gas Safe Regulations very seriously, which is precisely what you want when you have your boiler serviced. Many boiler services are in and out, miss important safety checks, and fail to complete the relevant records. This is not to be taken lightly as poorly serviced boilers can lead to major problems which cost a lot of money to fix. Wellesley is very thorough. He checks everything and documents it photographically. He completes the boiler log correctly - our previous service had not done that. Moreover he makes a point of checking every gas appliance in your property - a legal requirement which many boiler engineers ignore. I cannot recommend Wellesley more highly; his is a little more expensive that the average service but well worth it, and better value for money considering the care and attention he provides.
Does not come when he says he will. Arrives 90-120 minutes late. Has to be chased. Takes ages to do any job. Previously at beginning of the year was in my house till nearly 3 am!! ( twice ).Appears oblivious he infringes peoples homes & privacy & because he does not seem to require sleep no one else needs to either. We gave him a second chance on another job in all he was in our home for nearly 9hours over 2 days!! AND job not done because he cannot sort it!! Has reduced me to tears with the stress of it. NEVER AGAIN!!

Wellesley came to see us for an emergency gas leak and boiler issues we were having. The insurance company had sent 4 engineers - all of whom had failed to fix the issues. Wellesley visited us on the same day and worked until the job was done, fixing all the issues first time! He is very meticulous in his work and works by eliminating issues. I might have been unlucky seeing all these positive reviews. Wellesley did not turn up for our boiler service. He eventually got in touch & said he was an hour away (2 hours later) - but still did not show! Very frustrating as I had taken a day off work. There was no explanation or apology. Very unreliable service.

Wesley helped me get my heating system up to standard, replacing radiators and valves and doing a power flush. He also installed proper connections for my dishwasher and washing machine and provided me with a garden tap. Throughout this he was very professional, clean and hard working, and clearly interested in doing a proper job. He'll stay as late as it takes to finish the job if needed and he'll listen to your concerns. When a sudden leak appeared on the ceiling on a Sunday Wesley came to the rescue again on the same day, working late to get it fixed. Bird trapped behind gas fire. Contacted Wellesley Fri afternoon and he arranged to come out Fri evening. Arrived at arranged time, took care in covering room with dust sheets and making a path for bird to get out. He explained everything as he went along, taking photos. Bird was freed with very little mess and fire replaced. Wellesley is very knowledgeable about his trade, considerate, polite and reasonable with his charges.

Cannot recommend Wellesley highly enough. An expert problem solver! Faced with a non functioning boiler over Christmas I was worried about the normal scenarios when trying to find somebody to repair it: - People don't turn up - You are told various new parts or even an entire new system is needed and these always turn out to be very expensive - Even when parts are replaced, you don't really understanding what had caused them to fail for future prevention. The typical bad experience I was expecting is literally the opposite of the service we received from Wellesley. We called him in the morning to explain the problem and he came out, ordered, collected and fitted a new pump all on the same day. I am very glad to have found someone who is genuinely interested in the systems he works on and who understands and can explain the faults he finds. He is very reasonably priced and lets you pay for your parts directly, at cost, so you know you are not being overcharged for them. We had previously been told by another firm that we would need to pay £200 to replace an expansion vessel which had apparently sprung a slow leak, despite the system only being a few years old. Wellesley identified that the part in question was undamaged and that the leak was caused by another part having been incorrectly set up. He was able to fix both problems and he also showed us that a new expansion vessel only costs £30, rather than the £200 we had been quoted! This was a bonus fix he fitted in whilst he was replacing our burnt out pump. In the course of his visit he fixed our heating, gave us a wealth of useful information and even worked out the cause of the low water pressure which has been a problem since our house was built. I am so glad to have found somebody we can trust. I would thoroughly recommend him and he will be returning to us soon to fix our water pressure.

Came out first thing this morning to fix and service a non working gas fire. Wellesley painstakingly took the fire apart, cleaned all the parts, tested and retested, refitted and Bob's your uncle, fire works perfectly and looked as good as new after cleaning and respraying the coals and surrounds. Fantastic professionalism and care, which is rare in this day and age. Recommended highly.

Be aware Wellesley is very unreliable, tuns up hours late. He finds problems that have previously not existed. His pricing is not clear and up front. Because he charges by the hour the job takes 4 times as long as it should. He also hovers over you whilst getting you to make a positive review.

Wellesley is a very thorough and conscientious guy. His attention to detail is very high and he gives you best practice advice and/or what is affordable in your budget or situation.
