Excellent range of quality products, priced competitively, with delivery, installation and follow up service and repair advice second to none.
Had a fantastic experience at Selectric Blackheath. The store has a great selection of products at really good prices, so there's plenty to choose from. Oliver was incredibly attentive from the moment my boyfriend and I walked in. He helped us find exactly what we were looking for, packed everything nicely, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. His communication and customer service were outstanding. Oliver is an absolute star and a real credit to the store. We'll definitely be back!
The range and quality of products is perfect for a local shop. Sustainability is clearly a fundamental part of the company’s philosophy. The staff go out of their way to be helpful. In an era when all high street businesses are under threat from the internet Selectric is a breath of fresh air and will forever remain my favourite shop.
The brush bar on my Dyson DC25 had stopped rotating so I took it to Selectric for a repair. They charged me £47.95 up front and after a few days they called to say they couldn’t fix it. They couldn’t be sure if it was the brush bar motor or the PCB or something else, but it didn’t matter either way because none of the parts needed were available. So they had charged me £47.95 for a repair, then couldn’t properly diagnose the fault, and all they could do was offer to put the vacuum cleaner into a skip (yes they actually said that). I’ve had to order the motor myself (which cost £16 online), then fit it myself and now the hoover works. My conclusion is don’t take your vacuum cleaner to Selectric – you’d be better off fixing it yourself!
Great service! the staff were very helpful at locating products that I was looking for :)
I went in with some hopes for help and it was met with true companionship, Alan was an absolute gentleman and made me leave with nothing but joy & smiles. Reminded me of an old school high street store where time moved different & people actually cared. Kudos!
Thank you, alot of good household items you cant buy at supermarket.staff are friendly and informative. X
Two days ago, I hesitated to leave my broken carpet washer with a £49.95 deposit, non refundable, and a 10 day wait for it to be assessed. But, I received a call the next morning to say it's been repaired and I can pick it up. I was met by friendly, helpful and patient staff: and the carpet cleaner is working well.
So my paddle broke on my washing machine. I called Selectric in Blackheath and they were able to order the part. The customer service was 10 out of 10. I was also updated with the delivery schedule and my item arrived within 2 days. Thank you Kelly and the rest of the team who made this possible
Great experience with Selectric, which turns out to be something of a treasure trove! Was looking for an item in a hurry on a Sunday afternoon. Rang to see if they had it in stock. No one answered but then almost immediately a lovely gentleman rang me back and apologised for missing my call. They did have the item I wanted and put it aside for me. It was such a pleasure to experience some old-fashioned customer service. Really pleased to have found my item at a local shop rather than giving my money to Amazon!
Great local shop selling a really wide range of useful products. Very friendly staff who helpfully advised us on which type of product to buy.
I go there for the great selection of trading cards, which include Pokémon, Yu Gi Oh, and one-piece trading cards. They do have other trading card games and board games that you can purchase. They sell an array of garden and kitchen ware. Their selection of flower and bulbs and seeds are numerous/plentiful. I have purchased a lot of tulip bulbs from Selectric at a very reasonable price, especially when there is an offer. They have a good range of kitchenware available. The store is situated on a hill, and there is parking around Blackheath. The store is not far from Black heath train station.
Absolutely amazing experience getting advice from Alan at Selectric, truly a masterclass in customer care. We are so lucky in Blackheath to have such an excellent small business in our community. Highly recommended.
Always so helpful and friendly without being sales-ey or pushy. They have pretty much everything practical you need, fix appliances etc. always my first port of call
We took my Sebo Felix vacuum cleaner here for repair after an electric fault (device was sparking). After dropping in store the team sent it off for repair and it was back in under 7 days. For the sum total of £40 this repair was a bargain, considering that model of hoover costs around £400 new.
£96 for someone to come out and tell you it's the electronics on the washer dryer and it'll be expensive to repair. At an additional £36 per half hour didn't want the engineer to stick around and claim more. Not impressed when the symptoms etc could have been discussed over the phone.
Not cheap at £38 to replace an old length of wiring for a lamp, but done to a good level.
Everyone at Selectic are very helpful. They give great advice on white goods and the service department is excellent too.
My Shark vacuum cleaner was blocked up, and making an odd noise. Took it to Selectric who said it might take a week to fix depending on what parts were needed. Instead, they rang the next day to say they had fixed it. £39 labour & £12 for a new part. Excellent service, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Their electrician, Gemma, fixed my broken lamp in front if me in a couple of minutes. Very welcoming, kind and generous service.
Bought an integrated Bosch fridge freezer from here recently -same price compared to John Lewis ( where I normally purchase appliances). They sent the fitter to measure the space ( for a small fee) and then sent me different choices / brands with guarantee length details - this was very good to choose the model. The fitting was done as agreed and on time. I will definately use Selectric again when buying big goods in the future. They have supplied and fitted my integrated washing machine and fridge freezer . I will be returning when my dishwasher and double oven/ microwave need replacing -which could be very soon.
First class service from Alan when.ordering SEBO vacumn. Have just received it by pleasant delivery man and am extremely pleased with the product. I have bought from John Lewis previously but have been disappointed with their customer care. From now on Selectric is the place to go
I bought a vintage fibre optic lamp on Ebay and rang Selectric to see if they could check it over for me. From my first telephone contact with Dominic to when I picked the lamp up from the shop I was impressed by the courtesy and professionalism of the staff and that the shop itself has a wide selection of items and feels loke a proper, local shop where they care about the customers. My lamp works perfectly too! Highly recommended
Great place for all domestic stuff like, kettles, washing powder, cutlery, flasks and water filters. The prices may be a little higher than average, but with that you get good quality stuff. Staff are always helpful, I phoned the shop to ask if they had water filters in stock for example, and they had only one pack of six left and they put this pack aside for me. Can collect points with their loyalty card system.
Great range of products they have everything you ever need and if they don’t they will get it in by Wednesday!!!
I have been a customer of Selectric for several years and they have supplied and installed electrical appliances in my previous and current house. Not only are they thorough in their surveys and installations, but their follow up services are second to none. I'm happy dealing with a small family firm that gives their customers serious consideration. They will give advice over the phone if I have any minor queries or send out an engineer promptly for more serious issues. I have recommended them to friends over the years and I will continue to recommend them highly for their efficient and reliable services.
Very friendly. Managed to get what I wanted in a shop which is great because I don't like shopping on line. That shop sells everything.
I took my Dyson vacuum cleaner in for an overhaul. I received a good service. Reasonable priced. They were very quick. I highly recommend.
Alan and staff are always super helpful and knowledgeable. This is a great company! 👍🏻
Great local hardware store items you don't see in big hardware stores very nice indeed.
Excellent repair to my Mother's washing machine, booked and executed in good time. Unfortunately simple instructions for sending the invoice were not followed, instead the invoice was sent to my Father's email, he passed away over five years ago. A bit of a faff.
Paid 38 pounds for the repair of a vacuum cleaner. I told them that the problem was in the motor. The engineer called me back the next day and said that it is better to buy a new vacuum cleaner. My vacuum cleaner was not even taken apart because it left marks on the screws. . I don't recommend stay away from the engineer.
Selectric brought our little broken Henry back to life! They gave us an estimate online. In store met lovely friendly people. Super quick service and good value for money!
Wouldn’t serve me electrical wire because the 2 members of staff said they didn’t know how to cut it….
Was after a water spray bottle and an extension lead. Both easily available, and service at checkout was good.
£103 To Fixed 1 small Vacuum waooo what a fraud are they, I Took my Vacuum and never receive any call back to know about the Vacuum that what is the fault, after 2 weeks I have to call to ask what's going on than they said motor needs to be fixed, I said ok Please go ahead with the Motor which cost me £65+£38 labour, Now it has been past again 3 weeks almost and I never receive call again to know if it is fixed, I called today and they said yes it's ready since last Friday just come and take it , They are just unprofessional, not sure what happened to the Vacuum if is get fixed or it was already fine might be any little fault like fuse and they just kept it for 4 weeks with them and now just pay them £103 to take dame thing back. Useless peoples.
Straight forward communication, I had answers and product for my query in a short period of time. Staff's (Dominic) friendly attitude .
Unprofessional and rude!!! We have booked the service, confirmed by email. They didn't come. When we called, since we were expecting them, they started to challenged us aggressively that we haven't confirmed the service, then we give them the wrong address. I suppose I know my address and I sent the email to make sure they have the correct information. I am fine if they make a mistake, it happens. I am not happy about the rudeness. Do not book any service with them!
Selectric is a great shop. Family run. Lovely staff and a great stock of useful and quality products. I biught a bird feeder, Swiss Army, limescale cleaner and torch last time i was in. They can also fix devices which I wish more people did. A great hardware shop.
Took my vacuum cleaner in and feared the worst as it had stopped working. Serviced for £18 and in less than a couple of hours and it works fine once more. Great service and very helpful.
Really useful to have close to where we live. Lots of garden, home tool, kitchen, decoration, etc supplies. Staff are friendly and attentive.
It's got everything you need for cooking, mending stuff and gardening with friendly knowledgeable staff. Not the cheapest but excellent quality
Our go to local store for everything we need for home and garden. We bought our washing machine here 21 years ago and finally replaced it today with a new Bosch, installed checked and old machine removed and recycled for exactly the same price as John Lewis. Yes we could have saved maybe £20 via an online discounter but we now have the reassurance of local service and repair if we need it.
Friendly, knowledgeable service and excellent range of goods. Advised me on how to fix a malfunctioning dimmer switch and sold me just the right one - enabled us to fix a flickering light that had been bothering us and resisting all attempt to mend it for nearly a year. Definitely going back.
Bad experience at this place. One store assistant said I could return the next day to pay for a tube of mastic as I had forgotten my purse and they were closing in ten minutes. I thanked them and said I would be back as soon as they opened on Sunday at 11. Another assistant then followed me out of the store and demanded the mastic back and denied that the first assistant had the authority to give it to me. Very poor customer service giving me one advice and then giving me another and being officious with a customer. I'll buy the mastic elsewhere if that is the way they treat people.
Friendly helpful people in a store with a good range of all sorts for the house and garden
Excellent selection of products and second to none customer service and knowledge! I would not buy from anywhere else!! FIVE STARS!!!
Good store. Nice staff. Got good advice regarding a problem with fixing a shelf. I don't know the name of the guy who helped me but if you're seeing this, the washers solution worked!
Helpful knowledgeable staff. Good selection of stock, household, electrical, garden etc.
Used Selectric to replace my existing Fisher Paykel hob and ovens with Neff appliances. Tristan provided very helpful advice and matched prices elsewhere for a competitive quote. An engineer helped to check sizes and electrics and they recommended a very good electrician (Angelo) and a specialist company to enlarge the cut-out in the marble worktop. The onsite installation was very good, having helpfully delivered the units first so that the cut-out could be checked. Would thoroughly recommend.
They make no effort to assess if your appliance is repairable over the phone. You don't get to speak to an expert until the service person arrives in your house so they can then charge you their £80 call out fee for nothing which has happened three times now. Never again.
I took my 15 year old Miele vacuum cleaner to them last week as it had stopped working. £39 fixed fee for investigation and 2 days later it was fixed. Some "dry joints" needed re-soldering. Very happy not to have to buy a new machine. Great communication and service. Nice shop as well.
Purchased glue that would not cure on any of the materials listed on the packaging. Returned the next day with the product, packaging and evidence to be told it was user error (apparently I can control chemical reactions) and they would not exchange for a different product of equal value as they would be unable to resell what I returned - a "strong, permanent glue" that stays tacky and will not set - obviously confusing the principal of an unwanted product being returned within 28 days with a product be sold under misrepresentation and/or being faulty. Very poor service, the manager was "too busy to talk" despite me being the only customer and all 3 assistants being free at 10am on a Saturday. After refusal of exchange I was told to repurchase, which I did, elsewhere. Found the same product for £6.50 (£3.50 cheaper) nearby in Lewisham. Not my first bad experience here, it will be my last! Update for Selectric - The Rapid which I purchased in Lewisham cured perfectly under the same conditions, following the identical instructions. The Instant still hasn't cured, and so would suggest that it is in fact the product at fault, and not the user.
Quiet, good social distancing and a great variety of goods. Nice to find one shop that stocks so many different things. Not too badly.priced either.
Lovely shop with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Good range of gift items.
Love this place. New favourite shop. Great selection of premium, quality brands. Very helpful and supportive staff too. Went in with a broken lamp the other day and was encouraged to buy a part for a couple of quid vs leave it with them to mend for a lot more. Highly recommended!
Expensive products. Can get same but cheaper from internet. The return policy is same as any other retailer on the internet! The salesman today was patronising and rude. Talked to me like in such a way that I don’t want to go back again. He also doesn’t seem to know anything about LED lights. I would give no star but that is not possible - it’s the lowest setting!
This has been one of my favourite shops for years! Team are always helpful and patient.
These people are fantastic. Worth paying a little bit more for your white goods to get their great customer service.
I completely disagree with Zylons and Mario, have been buying from Selectric for over 11 years, for the business and home. I always and I mean always had excellent customer service and assistance in any questions and technical matters. Well stocked and always service with a smile!
Having had a couple of bad experiences recently with returning faulty goods to John Lewis I decided to buy my new Bosch washing machine from Selectric (who are very close to where I live). They had the model I wanted in stock, at a competetive price, and the purchase took a few minutes. Delivery two days later was on time and Mark and his colleague who did the installation and removed the old machine were excellent. Very pleased with the service and with my new machine.
Came here for aeropress filters but there is also a fantastic selection of kitchenware, home, cleaning and garden products. Will be back if we need anything that we can't find in Wilko!
EDIT 2019-12-31: At the end the technician came on Monday. It surprised everyone as I cancelled the job on Friday. Since the washing machine was still broken I asked him to fix it. It was handled professionnally and quickly. My request to take accountability for the situation was heard by the manager and I wasn't charged for the labour. The initial disappointment was turned to satisfied client. Thank you. Happy New Year! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technician was book to come on Wednesday. I was called on Tuesday he's not feeling well and if we can move it to Friday (today). I said yes, of course. Just called them to find out the technician is still not feeling well and he can come on Monday. It's just not acceptable to treat your customer like that. I made alternative arrangements so I can be at home and let technician in. When asked how they are going to fix it, I was told that they can only say sorry. If I suggested to take responsibility and make the complimentary service the person said it's not up to him to make the decision and his manager is on the holiday break already. Zero accountability, zero ideas to find solution. Just sorry is not enough! Merry Christmas!
I Purchased an oven for my Mother from Selectric. Henry made the experience an easy one. He was very helpful and patient. Thank you!
Love this shop. You find so many things there and with the recent move there is a bit more space as well. Never had a problem with customer service, always felt they are very knowledgeable and will go the extra mile to help.
Bought an adapter (worldwide to UK). Not too expensive (£5) and works fine. Only issue is my plugs fall out of the adaptive socket often.
I had a problem with my Miele vacuum cleaner. Took it to Selectric's shop, spoke to the engineer there, who knew what the problem was. He put everything right, and I was done and dusted in less than 15 minutes. Excellent customer service, and a reasonable cost.
Sells faulty lamps and refuses to exchange within warranty period. Suggest avoid this store.
Bought a lightbulb and was shocked by the price £13. I had previously bought from john Lewis for £7. Won't be buying bulbs from selectric anymore.🤔
I bought a lint remover, once unwrapping it the handle was broken and it didn't "remove lint" I spoke to a member of staff about this and they said "you can't return it". Pretty trash customer service and support. Not happy with my experience.
Requested a washer part on Saturday afternoon, got a text Sunday morning saying it was ready for collection. Great service and very helpful and knowledgeable staff, highly recommend!
A great shop which has virtually everything you could need on a domestic level from srews to ovens
I ordered a spare part online, it was at a good price, well packaged and delivered really quickly. But the after sales service was truly exceptional. Many companies today are keen to shift responsibility onto their suppliers: when the spare part failed, Selectric chose to provide perfect customer service, despite being let down by their supplier. I will unquestionably be using them again. Brilliant.
Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Very wide range of products. After sales service also excellent.
Brilliant. Old fashioned service (in a good way) and a customer service team that actually knew their products.
Wide selection of electrical goods and accessories, from washing machines to light bulbs. Slightly pricey but the staff are friendly and helpful. Most likely place to find the electrical you need in the village
