Definitive Decorating

Simon is absolutely brilliant! Not just a great decorator…but a great bloke with a wealth of knowledge and experience, we are so pleased to have found him. Having a trades person in your home can feel intrusive, but Simon makes you feel completely comfortable. Always on time and extremely tidy. I would give 10 stars if I could! 10/10 🙌🏻

I do highly recommend Simon, he is very professional, very punctual. He came out on Sunday to quote me for having my lounge painted, as this is the day he does his quotes. Told me he would be here at 8.30am and he was on time both days. Unlike some tradesman, he did not stop from the minute he got here When he left here on the first night, he made sure that I was able to sit comfortably in my lounge. The work he has carried out is to a first class standard, I would highly recommend him. I will definitely be using him again

Had one wall papered in my bedroom by Simon. So very pleased with the end result, not a join visible. Simon was very professional and reliable and left my room clean and tidy. I would not hesitate recommending Definitive Decorating, I will be using him again.

I can't recommend Simon highly enough! He just finished decorating my two bedrooms and bathroom, and I'm absolutely blown away by the results. From the very beginning, Simon was incredibly professional. He arrived promptly for the initial quote and listened carefully to my vision for the space. His suggestions were spot on, and he even helped me choose the perfect paint colors. The actual decorating work was fantastic. Simon was meticulous and paid close attention to detail, ensuring a flawless finish throughout the rooms. He also kept the workspace clean and tidy throughout the project, which was a huge plus. Now that the work is complete, my bedrooms and bathroom feel completely transformed. It's a joy to spend time in these newly decorated spaces. Simon is a true professional, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a top-notch decorator.

Simon redecorated a home office for us, and we could not have been more pleased with the result. He came to survey exactly when we arranged, then arrived on the dot on the first day. A very pleasant workman to have in the house, he had meticulous attention to detail and completely transformed a very dated space. Wholeheartedly recommend and will use again.

Simon has done a fantastic job on our living room, kitchen, hall and stairs. We look forward to welcoming him back later in the year to do the rest of the rooms!

Absolutely brilliant! Simon works hard, is fastidious and always leaves having cleaned up. He shows up every morning (you could set a watch to him he’s so punctual!) with a big smile and a great attitude and is a pleasure to have around. He’s got me as a customer for life!

Simon is a real gentleman who completed a large job to the highest standards, both in terms of the workmanship and his customer service. It was a pleasure to have Simon in the house and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and/or have him back for more work. We’ve used Simon a number of times now and each time he does a superb job. This time it was our kitchen walls including all the wood skirts and doors. Couldn’t have asked for better. Looks amazing. And as always Simon was tidy, neat, efficient and great to deal with. Would massively recommend.

Simon recently wallpapered our lounge, hallway and spare room. He was extremely punctual, polite, professional and friendly. His work is of a very high standard and he is very tidy as he goes. We are very pleased with the outcome and would have no hesitation in recommending Simon to others needing a hand with interior decorating. In addition, Simon also has a good sense of humour, which was especially appreciated when he witnessed us trying to assemble a complicated flat pack unit. He even lent us his cordless drill to save us time! Thanks Simon 😊

Simon did a thorough and professional job decorating our house .He was prompt and conscientious in his work. We are very pleased with the result.

Emailed Definitive Decorating today about a lot of work I would like doing at my house. The reply I received back was not professional at all, seemed as if they could not be bothered to write a thoughtful reply. Not what I was expecting. Will not be recommending. Edit: I receive an email today from Simon (November) threatening me to take off the 1 star review.

I would like to massively highly recommended Simon of Definitive Decorating to anyone considering having any professional decorating done. I found Simon to be highly accommodating wright from the start agreeing to come out and quote on a Sunday afternoon, with his then highly prompt and very competitive pricing for the whole house repaint of my 4 bedroom townhouse . He started and commenced the big project within the fortnight and finished on time as scheduled. On inspection Simon had done a fantastic, excellent and superb exceptional job of bringing a trashed rental home back to fantastic sparkling life as if it was completely brand new all over again. The walls, doors, windows, woodwork we're all exceptionally painted beyond my expectations. Even more exceptional was Simon had completely cleaned and hoovered up everywhere which I was not expecting at all. Simon has done a fantastic, first rate, highly professional, beyond excellent super high quality superb decorating job for me and I cannot be more pleased and so happy with the final outcome result. If your thinking of having your home decorated in the near future I strongly strongly highly recommend Simon of Definitive Decorating you truly and honestly will be simply amazed at the magical results Simon will perform for you in a quality dream finish of perfection to your home decorating needs. Thank you so much Simon, Mitchell Eversden. (Genuine Recent Customer).

Simon is a very professional and excellent painter and decorator. He painted my previous home and has now just finished painting my new home. Really pleased with the finished job. Excellent workmanship and really tidy. Simon is a good communicator. He let's you know exactly when he will be starting your job and also confirms the day before. I would definitely recommend Simon to anyone who is looking for an excellent high quality professional decorating job.

Great job transforming Hallway and Bedroom. Simon hung some rather expensive wallpaper for me perfectly in addition to all the prep work and painting. Happy to recommend.

Fast visit to price the work which was hall and landing including undercoat & gloss to twelve doors & ten rolls of wallpaper. Quote received two hours later. Good price, arranged a date and he arrived 8am that day and every day until he had finished 10 days later. Quality very good and Simon is a very pleasant man. Highly recommended.

Simon decorated my daughter's bedroom and we were very impressed at Simon's professionalism from when he answered my email request, coming round to quote us on the job, through to him completing the work. He offered advice which was extremely helpful to us. Not only was he thoroughly professional, he was also very friendly which puts you at ease when having someone in your house for a few days. He was extremely polite and very grateful when offered drinks whilst still working. I would highly recommend Simon and I have already done so to some of my friends. Thanks again Simon!

We recently hired Simon to paint our lounge. He didn't provide the cheapest quote for the work but we wanted a quality finish and we are not disappointed. A true professional, punctual, tidy in his work and real attention to detail in both materials used and in the job itself. Will be looking to use Simon again in the future.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Simon to anyone needing an interior decorator. Simon has just finished decorating my living room, dining room, hall, stairs, landing and kitchen, and the results are amazing! I'll certainly be employing Simon's services again very soon to decorate the 4 bedrooms.

We would recommend Simon unconditionally to decorate your home. He transformed our hall, stairs and landing to be a bright and modern entrance and went the extra mile by painting a small table top for us which he hadn’t expected to do and was very happy to help with.

Last week was the second time we had used Simon of Definitive Decorating. His work is outstanding, his attention to detail is great., and his prices very reasonable. He is also a lovely gentleman, what more can be said! Alan and Chris Ryan Chanterelle, Highwoods 27.10.18

I contacted Simon after my father died and we needed to re-paint the house for renting. From the moment that he understood the situation he was extremely sympathic to the circumstances, and I trusted him from the moment we met. He fully painted the house to an exceptional standard. We were not living in Colchester which meant he was working independently and we were not around to check up, but I had absolute faith based on his excellent communication and responsiveness. I did not have to chase for anything and he was very flexible to accommodate various requirements. Simon takes pride in his work which is clearly apparent in the results. He also offered constructive advice. I realised how exceptional it is to employ someone for work and have total trust in them from the beginning. This made things so straightforward and stress free. I can't recommend him highly enough. The price was very competitive so don't be put off and assume that this standard of work is unaffordable because it is not.

I’m quite picky about who I get in to do work in our home so often rely on impartial Google reviews to ‘hopefully’ help steer us in the right direction. Pleased with what I’d read, being local too, I asked Definitive Decorating for a quotation. Simon came on the weekend and followed up with a competitive quote by email. Unfortunately, by the time we got back to Simon he was booked up on some bigger jobs so we had to wait 2 months before he could book our job in. I didn’t mind that tbh, it show’s he’s busy (which is good) and we were in no rush. Sadly for Simon, he started on the hottest week of the year (in history), but none the less did a fantastic job of painting our hall, stairs, landing and downstairs WC. Simon completed the job on time, to highest quality and was professional throughout. Thank you Google Reviewers (again) and Simon for doing a great job. Would recommend Definitive Decorating without hesitation and will definitely use them again in the future.

Simon responded to my request for a quote the same day and arranged to call. He called when he said he would, assessed the work required and made several helpful suggestions and left a business card and Dulux colour chart. I received a reasonable quote by email and decided to proceed. We agreed dates which he stuck to. I am very fussy about my home and dread getting people in to do any work but after meeting Simon I felt confident. The work (kitchen, hallway, bathroom, bedrooms and lounge (and a small bit of exterior work)) was carried out to a high standard within the predicted time. He would talk me though his plans and discuss any issues. He also did some work for my elderly mother who he treated with utmost respect. So high standard professional decorating carried out by a pleasant, reliable trustworthy guy. Use with confidence.

Great work done to a high standard and on dates arranged. Would definitely recommend Simon to others and will be using him again.

Simon has worked for us on two occasions. On each he has listened to our ideas, made helpful suggestions and helped us to achieve them within the realities of our budget. His quality of work is excellent and great value, and he delivers it in a cheerful, trustworthy and flexible way.

Simon is very professional and reliable and has carried out a number of jobs for us. He provides a clear written quote detailing the work required and materials to be used. The work is of a high standard with very little mess or inconvenience. Simon takes great care to protect carpets, furniture etc with dust sheets. We will definitely use Simon's services again.

Family home was needing revamped and we came across Simon's business through google search, and the subsequent good reviews. We believed the existing paint work had been done to a good standard but have been blown away at the seriousness, detail, and sheer quality of the work offered by Definitive Decorating - utterly faultless. Simon himself was a pleasure in the few weeks he spent with us, very genuine and polite - which is an important consideration when leaving someone in your home all day. Most importantly, the work done to the house was absolutely first class, and to simply recommend his services seems the least we can do. We strongly urge anyone needing interior work done to use Definitive Decorating with absolute confidence. You won't find better in the area, simple as that.

Simon, did my stairs hall and landings a few weeks ago, he was punctual, polite and cleaned up at the end of every day. The work was of a high standard and I would definately recommend him to others. All in all if your looking for a painter and decorator you could not really go wrong with Simon.

Debbie Marr Simon has done a brilliant job for us, a true professional. I have no hesitation in recommending him to others. Thank you Simon, I love my rooms!

We contacted Simon last year following a personal recommendation and he did a beautiful job painting all of the woodwork on the outside of our house. This went very well and we have had him in again; this time to paint our kitchen, once more a very nice job. Simon is a friendly and professional decorator. He gives a sensible, firm estimate at the start and tidies up at the end of each day and at the end of the job. We would not hesitate to use him again.

Simon decorated our lounge, hallway and kitchen and a rather fiddly job of painting three stories worth of spindles and handrails. He is professional, personable and easy to get on with. He is punctual, very neat and tidy and gets on with things. Furthermore, his professionalism shows in the end result. We are very pleased with his work and the downstairs and staircase of our house looks wonderful and have no hesitation in using his services again.

I first contacted Simon as I needed a bedroom completely redecorated as I had just placed our house on the market and the bedroom was in desperate need of a complete makeover ! I had never used Simon before but had read all the feedback from others all of which were fairly local to us in Marks Tey. Simon replied to my enquiry very quickly and visited us to discuss our requirements. He started work promptly every day and throughout his time here he worked hard ever day. He was meticulous in his work and in the time it took to complete the job always tidied up and hoovered. It has been an absolute pleasure to have Simon here , I really cannot praise him highly enough. It can be quite hard these days to find someone who you can completely rely on and trust. I will certainly use Simon again in the future. Thanks Simon for everything !

Simon did a fantastic job on the external decoration of our property in Colchester - all done with minimum fuss and supervision. I have no hesitation in recommending him to others: a real professional. Great job and great value for money

We have been very pleased with Simon's work who has just finished painting our kitchen and hall. We were pleasantly surprised with his speed of work and great finish for a very competitive rate. He is a polite and friendly chap, always punctual and even hoovers at the end of the day which is rare! We have already recommended his services to one of our friends and to many more to come. Anna, Colchester

In one week Simon gave me a beautiful living room and kitchen. His work is of top quality and he himself is very professional and friendly. I can highly recommend him and will be asking him to come back and finish the rest of the house. A. Carr, Chappel

I cannot speak highly enough about Simon's work - from the moment he arrived to quote for the job right up until the last minute he was in our home, he acted with the utmost professionalism. The quality of his work simply can't be faulted - he aided us with his excellent knowledge of colour and how it would work in the space we asked him to transform and the attention to detail and quality of what he delivered was excellent. To top it all off he was considerate, friendly and incredibly personable... We'll definitely be using his services again!

Simon carried out the painting of all the exterior wood work of our house (fascia, soffit, porch and cladding). Some of the wood was not in the best state and Simon made a great job in the preparation and painting. He was very neat and tidy and the finish looks great. Simon was always punctual and completed the work quickly with minimal disturbance. We’re very happy with the service we got at a reasonable price and would highly recommend Simon and will be using his services again in the future.

Simon's service of decorating is second-to-none. I would recommend him to anyone. He has a fantastic work ethic and attitude no matter the weather, even during some of the hottest days of the year! (2014). We cannot thank you enough for the superb work you have done in our home! It all looks stunning!

Simon Duffee completely transformed the interior of my home over a three-week period. A total professional, highly skilled in painting and decorating, Simon worked rapidly from room to room, with almost military precision; preparation was exceptional to ensure perfect finishes, all work was executed to the very highest standard. Inevitably there was disruption, as furniture was moved and dustsheets draped over, but the overall impact was minimal. Simon is a very careful and considerate chap. He worked systematically, and at the end of each day he ensured that all was neat and tidy before leaving. His charges are competitive and I thoroughly recommend Simon to you and to friends – I am sure you will be completely satisfied with his work. Eileen Clucas, Colchester

Simon was extremely professional and did a great job in both the dining room and the bathroom. He understood exactly what was required and was speedy and efficient. I would thoroughly recommend his work

We had our extremely old victorian front door stripped and restored which has brought it back to life again looks absolutely stunning. he is a very clean worker and extremely methodical. Would highly recommend

Simon was superb and did a fantastic job on our house. His attention to detail, understanding of the job and quality was first rate. Whilst with us he painted our chimney, exterior of the house and also painted our summer house making it look brand new. We'll be looking forward to having Simon back when it all needs a fresh coat in a few years time!

We asked Simon back to undertake some exterior garden work. Repairing some broken decking boards, painting the decking, trellis, and all fence panels in the garden (about 14). We were extremely happy with the end result, and it definitely feels nice to sit in our newly decorated garden, and enjoy the occasional sunshine!! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. Thanks.

From start to finish my Wife and I were extremely satisfied with the exterior work Simon undertook on our house. We heard about him via recommendation from a neighbor who was very praising of his work. So we approached him to quote to fix and paint our exterior rendering, paint the fascias, and paint our exterior doors (including garage and link gate). He also offered to smooth over some rather botched filling I had done inside the house. Simon gave a professional appraisal of the work, and broke down the costs so that we could decide which pieces we could afford to carry out. In the end the costs were very reasonable so we chose to have all the work done. Simon was on-time every day, and he worked quickly and professionally, cleaning up as he went. He was friendly and courteous at all times. The work was completed in the time and budget Simon originally quoted, even though he spent additional time applying additional coats of paint to areas that needed it. I would not hesitate to recommend Simon, and we are already booking him back to carry out some more work to our fences and decking in the garden!

Punctual and efficient decorator! Our painted hall is looking excellent!

Simon has now done several decorating jobs for us, and we have been delighted with each and every one. He is very reliable, punctual, and takes time with his preparation to ensure the perfect finish. We would thoroughly recommend him, and are pleased we have found him.

Nice, efficient service. Very tidy too!
