What vetting actually is
WaterSafe for water fittings
WaterSafe is the national accreditation body for approved plumbers. Check the business on WaterSafe's register when the job touches water fittings.
Gas Safe for gas work
Boilers, gas cookers and gas pipework need a Gas Safe registered engineer. Confirm the registration number on the Gas Safe Register.
Public liability on the scheme
WaterSafe requires approved businesses to hold £2m public liability (and £5m employers' liability where appropriate). Ask for proof before work starts.
