I started my solar journey by using AI to research installation costs, kit options, and reputable local companies. Sheffield Renewable Services was highly recommended, so I reached out to the owner, Jay, who promptly arranged a site visit. From start to finish, the professionalism of Jay, Tara (admin), and the entire team has been outstanding. During the initial visit, Jay used a drone to map my roof within minutes. We discussed several setups to maximise my return, and I soon received a highly detailed, 18-page quote covering three distinct options. After a bit more AI research, I selected the Sigenergy system, paid the deposit, and booked the installation. There was a slight, expected pause while awaiting G99 grid approval, which the team handled smoothly. On installation day, the team arrived promptly at 8:00 AM alongside the equipment delivery. They kept me fully informed throughout, even consulting me to find an alternative location for the battery and inverter when the original spot proved too tight. The crew worked incredibly hard, completing the full installation and commissioning by 6:00 PM. As someone with OCD, I was thrilled with how neat the finish was—most cabling is hidden underground or tucked discreetly alongside the drainpipe. After paying the final balance, I promptly received my commissioning pack, including the MCS certificate, wiring diagrams, and warranties. Once the final G99 sign-off lands, I can begin exporting electricity back to the grid. Best of all, I have paid zero pounds for electricity since the installation! I highly recommend Sheffield Renewable Services.
A great experience all round. We asked for three quotations from various companies, and the prices were very similar. The deciding factor was that Sheffield Renewables are local and therefore closeby if we had any issues (we didn't). Terrific support and customer service. Ive had an install 3 years. All fine until it stopped working. The original installer no longer in business, so potentially a painful and drawn out fix. Jay and his team were available within the week to attend and diagnose. It was fixed on the first visit! Really pleased with their professional approach and communication. Would definitely recommend.

Had a solar battery installed to compliment my existing solar panel system and couldn’t be more pleased. After my solar installation stopped working, Sheffield Renewable Services sorted the issue. I already had an idea the inverter was the culprit and needed replacing. Jay came out, assessed and confirmed the issue, and a new inverter installed. I was more than happy with service, from first contact to final goodbye. And all working now!!!

Jay and his team were amazing. When other solar companies said we couldn't fit panels on an outbuilding, Jay produced a solution and a system that has future proofed our energy needs. The production levels are brilliant and we even produce on overcast days We have battery storage placed in an unobtrusive area and every cable fixed and tidy, so important in an older property We threw Jay a curved ball, asking midway through the process to put in an electric car charger and he obliged within days. I bought a 9.5 kWh battery from Sheffield Renewable Services and have been very pleased with the storage, which fits with my solar generation. There were some problems with the phone App, but Jay managed to contact the battery people and get it all straight. My Zappi car charger, which had been installed by someone else, needed new firmware and Jay went the extra distance for me as a customer. He installed the new firmware. Thanks, Jay. Better than I could have ever hoped! I had five quotes for our solar installation and only two actually came to the house. Jay arrived at the exact time he said he would and put us at ease straight away with his friendly approach and not a hard sell in anyway, we told him which brand we wanted (SIGENERGY) and went through our usage which is very high due to a couple of energy eating aquariums. He came back with a plan within just a few days and advised it would be about six weeks later for the install. Six weeks later the scaffold team arrived along with Jay and the install started the following day the roofers arrived and started to fit the 34 panels on the house and garage all was very professional and the two mentioned trades Jay use are really friendly and professional. Jay had the complete job done in 5 days, we had four batteries, inverter, gateway and the hot water gizmo installed and everything was so carefully planned out for a tidy install he even asked if I was happy with where it was being fitted before the drill came out. The day after the scaffold team gave us a courtesy call to say they were taking it all down the following day and job done! I literally cannot express how delighted we are with Sheffield Renewables so if you are worried about choosing the right installer don’t look any further than Jay and his team! 👏

Jay was really easy to speak to and deal with and nothing was too much trouble. He was really accommodating when we had to push our dates back. He was great with communication and really good at answering all our questions (and I asked a lot!). He was really professional at all times, the work was done to a really high standard. When we first met when he came for a quote he wasn’t intrusive or pushy and didn’t shove things down our throat. He came, he saw and he quoted and delivered exactly what he promised so was not only excellent with installation but also excellent with sales. Big companies need to take note and learn from Jay. I finally had Solar panels after an extensive search for the right person to do the job. So very happy with my decision to go with Jay Reid at Sheffield renewable services who was very thorough with the initial proposal plan for my house but I followed it up with a face to face discussion with Jay to answer my questions about the whole process. Jay explained everything really well and it made sense so I hired him for the job which was carried out to a very high standard and all his team were .professional and punctual. Without any hesitation would recommend Jay and his team to anyone who is interested in having solar panels . Work completed in about 2 to 3 days and the FoxCloud 2.0 app installed on my phone and Jay explained how it all works and helped me with the process of how my energy supplier will now supply or pay me for electric from my panels. A very big heart felt Thank you to Jay and his team at Sheffield renewable services. I've just had a second battery added today (9th June 2025) following detailed discussions with Jay about keeping more of my own solar energy and been less reliant on National grid. Jay went above and beyond to not only service our solar panels/ generator, but also called northern grid when he realised we had some dodgey electrics in our new property. Jay made sure that everything was safe and sorted and even checked in a couple of days later to confirm all was safe in the property ! We couldn’t recommend this company enough!! Will definitely be using them for all future services ! Jay also explained the different parts of our generator and meter readings to complete our FiT paperwork! Jay has fitted a Sigenenergy battery and some Enphase solar panels for us. This was two big jobs the second required working with our roofers on a complete new roof job. Jay has been really efficient and provided an excellent service on this new and complex system. He has come back and helped tweak it on a couple of occasions and has chased up issues with the manufacturers. I would highly recommend Sheffield Renewables and Jay. Jay (SRS) recently installed new Solar panels to complement some older panels, whilst we were having the roof replaced. He worked seamlessly with the roofer, removing and re-commissioning the old panels and adding new. There were a few comparability issues that had to be overcome, but Jay worked hard to resolve all issues and the system now works better than ever. Great communications throughout and fair pricing.

Had the pleasure of working with this team on a recent garden conversion to have an EV charging point via an underground power cable. The team were very professional, working alongside the landscaping team and helping me understand the process at all steps. They answered calls when I needed to pass on information from other teams around their timescales and were ever helpful. I even had delays to the garden project and they managed to work around this to ensure they weren't holding other teams up. The installation was clean, inside looks great, outside looks perfect. Contacted the energy board when there were questions on the house supply and even did the paperwork! Kept me up to date on all that and yeah I couldn't be happier. I would recommend them 100% I couldn't have asked for a better team to come and get my EV charging from home sorted. A pleasure to deal with.

We had an electric car charger installed by Jay for our new electric mini. Jay fitted it for us and it’s fantastic. He explained it all and how it works to get the cheapest energy so that it only costs £1 for a full charge of over 100 miles! We also use it to charge our hybrid Volvo and we are saving so much money that this will have paid for itself in no time! His work was efficient and tidy too! Highly recommend especially as many car manufacturers do not include a charging pod even if it is brand new!
