Bolt Electrical NW Ltd

Rhys installed an EV charger for us in March 2024. Aug 2025 the unit had a fault and was smoking after several weeks of intermittent charging. Contacted Rhys who confirmed his warranty was only 12 months and after this our texts were completely ignored - we gave a few weeks grace and a couple of polite reminders but radio silence. Went direct to manufacturer ourselves who immediately responded with warranty repair including labour costs. Same week different sparky confirmed Rhys had not notified Scottish Power for approval prior to install (installation wouldn't have been approved if he had) and that the original install was missing a specific safety cable which reduces flow to the charger when home load is running high. Subsequently SP have been out to the property to increase the available load and a certified electrician has installed the EV charger. Turns out the work carried out by Bolt didn't meet regs - only 2 out of 4 screw points had been utilised and the cable into the wall not sealed making it not water tight. Upon opening the old unit, it had already begun rusting internally with rain water leaking in which then caused the smoking/malfunction. I would give zero stars if I could - original job was not completed to standard resulting in us now being hundreds out of pocket to fix the issue and Rhys didn't help us one bit when we approached him for help. I would certainly check certs before considering using.

Fully recommend Bolt electrical. Reliable, provided me with options. Tidy work at competitive price.

Rhys is a lovely fella. Professional, polite and trustworthy. He added an outside electric point for a patio heater for us. Great job, very pleased with his work. Highly recommend him!
