Reviews
4.1
Via East Midlands Limited gets mixed reports. Several reviewers describe pothole repairs as short-lived and poor quality, with some saying the same holes are fixed repeatedly and roads in Gedling are left dangerous. One reviewer linked the road condition to repeated tyre replacements and cracked alloy rims, and another described seeing tarmac thrown into a hole and stamped down. Several reviewers also complained about unfinished or unguaranteed work, and one said a promised job was never finalised despite letters. On the other side, reviewers praised the MOT testing station, with one naming examiner Martin as informative, helpful and diligent, and others describing friendly, helpful staff and good advice. One reviewer praised road marking work at their drive entrance and helpful workers, and another thanked Via for completing work early and said they would recommend it. One reviewer said calls were redirected to Nottinghamshire County Council and the phone answering service was closed when a recorded message said it was open.
I'm leaving this review as they are the contractor for Notts CC for roads repair (pot holes). Whilst I am sure some workers follow procedure, the number of pot hole repairs lasting a small number of days before throwing out the tarmac means many / most must not. So the quality of work and standard of repair is not good. Also, I would expect that a company would be inspecting its repairs given the amount of times it repairs the same pothole.
White H-bar line road marking applied to the entrance of our drive in the hope it will help to keep the access clear. The work has been carried out, the workers I spoke to were helpful.
The home of Bodge and Scarper, the famous pot hole repair company. Repairs are often not completed and certainly have no guarantee.
Sadly the roads in my neighbourhood of Gedling are being completely neglected by Via and are now positively dangerous. On the odd occasion when potholes are fixed the work is obviously shoddy and has to be repeated several times a year. Woeful.
VIA are responsible for repairs and maintaining the roads that I travel on in the area that I live. Ive driven in Cuba, South Africa and other countries where the roads are classed as third world, in these countries the cars are generally old and not a lot of care is taken on how they look, mainly due to the damage that is caused by driving on the pot hole roads. I witnessed a repair in my area, some tarmac was thrown in a hole, hit with a shovel, watched by 2 other guys, very similar to the repairs carried out in these third world countries. A 30 mph road turns into 15 mph, because of the craters that are forming in our roads. Now is VIA efficient and value for money, money that comes from my taxes, NO, NO it's not. Is it time for an investigation to made into how VIA is managed, how are the workforce briefed, how much money is really wasted? Maybe Notts CC need to be investigated as well.
The work is a disgrace they fill in part of the hole stamp it down with boots and within 2 weeks it is out again. I have yet to see 1 proper repair carried out by them it's dangerous and a disgrace!
I regularly drive in and around Gedling and the condition of the roads are costing me a fortune. In 3 months I’ve had 3 tyres replaced. Over the past 2yrs I’ve replaced five tyres in total and had two cracked alloy rims repaired. The potholes and crappy surfaces are not isolated. Repairs in some locations appear don’t last, Calverton Road repairs lasted 2 weeks and sink holes look like they have appeared. I get that highways maintenance operates within council funding, but the current condition is resulting in vehicle damage and potential death to motorbikes. We need real repairs and not tamped patch work.
It's a council service department for various motors
Great friendly staff nice place to get a MOT.
I had my motor home MOT'd here the other day. Martin the examiner, was informative, helpful and diligent. He failed it but showed my why (a simple loose tow bar lighting fitting) we deemed a fail by VOSA . I got it sorted out and returned it where he of course passed it. Very fair service and helpful staff, no reason to not take your vehicle to them.
They direct calls automatically to Notts County Council and also close their phone answering service when their recorded message states that it is open
Staff were friendly loads of space and a quick tip. The bucket driver was very friendly and ace to talk to
A promised and agreed job has never been finalised by VIA. This is in spite of several letters to them to complete their agreement. DO NOT LET THEM HAVE ANY PAYMENT FOR SERVICES UNTIL ALL IS COMPLETED TO YOUR SATISFACTION.
This site is operated by Via, an arm of Nottinghamshires County Council. They deal with the councils vehicles maintenance and repairs, in addition they look after the road network in Nottinghamshire. An MOT testing station is also on site. A training centre is on site that operates such things as CPC training and first aid courses (open to the general public). A well presented cafe is on offer for visitors to the site as well as employees, meals are freshly cooked on site, it has vending machines and TV.

Thanks VIA for coming 2 months early than expected - lovely workmen. We were so pleased with the work and it was nice to come home from work and find all the work had been done. Thank you very much - we would recommend Via. Best wishes for 2019 & happy new year to everyone at via. Mr & Mrs Hornsby
Super fain
Excellent staff, great help, excellent facilities for beverages.
Less than 20 hours before work commences we have an anonymous note through the door. Phone no. doesn't answer, no email and no name so even if you get through, who do you talk to? The writer obviously believes their missive to be self explanatory. It isn't. Working with the council - great minds, or in this case not so great minds, think alike.
