G&G installed a Vaillant Heat Pump for us - great experience from start to finish. Team were very professional and experienced - took us through set up and best practice for operation. Would highly recommend.

From initial enquiry to installation of fire and surround all aspects of my experience with staff was professional and staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Installation was completed to a high standard by staff who were definitely a credit to the company- I was consulted throughout the process and all packaging and rubbish was removed and my home was left clean and tidy

I e-mailed an enquiry through their website regarding having a shower room installed. About 2 weeks later I had an e-mail response asking me to phone them. I could have not bothered with the e-mail enquiry if that's all they were going to respond. I telephoned the number provided. No reply. I left a message with my details. The phone call triggered an automated text message from them saying they couldn't respond at that time. 2 weeks later, still nothing. If this is the type of service you get when you are trying to give them work, I think I did well to find out how poor they are early in the process.

Great service and friendly staff

I used the company to repair the flushing mechanism in an internal cistern. The plumber spent less than ten minutes on the job and they charged my £110. I queried that amount as was told they have a minimum fee regardless of the work done (in my case it involved no parts). To cap it all the cistern has stopped working again. I won't use them again.

Communication was excellent, work carried out in a timely manner. The work itself was executed perfectly and the area left clean and tidy. The installers were pleasant and helpful. Overall very satisfied from first communication to final installation.

Used G&G originally to install a fire (with an extra chimney) and then recently a heat pump with all new radiators and underfloor heating. I can't say enough good things about them and the quality of the work - they went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. I would be more than happy to invite them into our home again.

I wanted to get a quote to compare gas and wood burning fires installation. Someone came out to have a look and measure up but I'm still waiting for the quote 9 months later . I also rang 3times to be told how busy it was and they would get back to me asap. I've given up to be honest and am pretty disappointed.

We have just had our chimney dismantled and a new gas fire installed all in one day with no dramas, very little upset and the team cleaned up behind themselves . But what surprised me the most was the owner Keith knocked on the door early evening to inspect the job and ensure we were happy. Great service glad we made the decision to use Gibson & Gould , you just can’t beat discipline and old school service.

Professionally I’ve known about G&G for circa 20 years and recommended numerous clients based on such strong experiences they have encountered. Firsthand, today, Tuesday 5 March I can comfortably conclude that they are an exceptionally personable and professional outfit. From my first contact with them in December regarding the provision and installation of a multi fuel burner, they’ve been first class. Insightful and helpful from the outset, my installation was much the same. One of the partners / owner (?) is hands on and proactive, reassuring in itself. The guys that installed my burner, exceptional, professional, careful, considerate - I’m running out words to praise them. Rarely do I write reviews but I have to acknowledge a first class experience - it doesn’t happen all the time unfortunately.

We are delighted with our new log burning stove, which was provided and installed by Gibson & Goold last week. The whole experience from start to finish has been a pleasure. From our visits to the store, where we were greeted by a very helpful advisor who was very knowledgeable and patient in helping us make the right choice, with no pressure. The site survey was thorough and we got excellent advice to make some changes - to ensure a safe installation was possible and a quote we were happy with. The installation team were excellent and did a fantastic job - they clearly take a pride in their work. Finally, a visit from Mr Goold himself to make sure we were happy with the service and the installation, which was a nice touch. Highly recommended.

The staff in particular Kirsty in the showroom and Ross who fitted the fire were excellent. The process from visiting the store to getting the fire fitted was really quick. Kirsty was very knowledgeable about the products and Ross was very well presented and clean and tidy in his work. I would highly recommend this company

Fitted an air source heat pump last month - fantastic service from start to finish, extremely professional teams. High quality product supplied and high quality workmanship for the install. Also carried out a gas boiler service on another property, again very professional and happy to be flexible around our arrangements - happy to look at an older boiler too where some companies were reluctant.

Phoned this company a week ago and was advised that one of their sales staff would phone me at the beginning of the following week. We have now reached the end of that week and still no phone call. Phoned the company and was advised that they were very busy and they were still catching up. Disappointing, clearly must be getting their business too easy and are quite happy to lose business. Their representative I spoke to, was non appologetic and clearly did not care that they lost a good order Would not recommend!

Great range of high quality products, great advice prior to purchase and the fitters at your home are thoughtful, careful, clean and full of experienced suggestions to help you take any informed decisions which may be required at the time.

installed my air source unit, however when an issue developed , they fobbed me off for a couple of months and blamed valliant for not replying to establish if warranty issue, later discovered they never registered system after installation therefore no record of my heating on valiant system and continued to tell me waiting for valliant to reply , in short I would not recommend this company.

Very helpful staff..and wonderful to find a local supplier of wood burner spares, without having to resort to online, as I would have only bought the wrong size if I had.

It’s a shame that admin (both job booking and accounts) at this company lets it down so badly, because the plumber (Rikki) was excellent. I had an issue where it transpires that the former owner of our house had already paid their £748 bill for getting two radiators working, but accounts was still demanding payment for it. When I tried to ask for my money back I was told today “I don’t like your attitude”.

Ross just fitted my beautiful new gas stove today . Wasn’t ever going to be the easiest job as had to run an underfloor supply into the sitting room but he did an excellent job & left the room totally immaculate . He also took away my old fire for me which was total godsend . Now I’m sitting in front of my stove toasting away nicely and wondering why I didn’t do it years ago . I had a Stovax Riva cassette wood burning stove fitted today. There was a problem with my chimney but with a lot of hard work and perseverance, the problem was solved. The care taken by the fitters was excellent and when the job was completed, you would hardly know work had been done. I was very impressed with the attitude of all involved and would recommend Gibson and Gould without hesitation.

Had a choice of three companies to choose from and wish I had the bad experiences before awarding Gibson and Goold the contract. I am far from satisfied with the job and would not recommend them to anyone. They removed a perfectly decent hearth and have still not returned it even though I requested its return. They booked a date for the job and at the last minute rescheduled even though this meant reorganising access etc. They promised that the price quoted, no cheaper than the other two companies, was for the total job. However, they were not willing to plaster the wall afterwards wanting to leave gaping holes. They reluctantly did this after an argument with them. Even so, the replaced skirting is like a patchwork quilt. It looks a mess. Every visitor to my home comments on how bad it looks and can't believe it was left in this state. Rubble was falling from the top where a centimetre gap was left around the flue, winds were blowing in through the opening to the outside which was not sealed either. The new hearth was left with concrete stains on it. No one tested that the stove worked and I found the door was not tight, the pin keeps working itself out just with normal opening and closing the door. The pin looks to be off the straight as if someone used a hammer to it. Work was 'completed' in December of 2016 and it is now August of 2017 and I am still waiting for them to attend to this pin which is clearly a major safety issue. The staff, at least, have always been courteous in dealing with things. I only wish the vast amount I paid would have resulted in a job I was delighted with. I am far from it. It looks nothing like the projects shown on their website. I would welcome them showing a photo of my job. The answer to me when duscussing what I expected a finished job to be was that they did not employ plasterers or joiners and if I wanted the holes, created around the stove, to be finished off then it was up to me to employ a plasterer.

When we bought our first house we used Gibson & Goold because they had done a great job at my parents and we used them again when we moved. I don't normally write reviews online but we have experienced great service over many years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them in the future.

I recently used Gibson and Goold to fit a new fireplace, fire and all the surrounding fittings to my mums house. They were recommended to us so I asked them to quote. Can't fault the service in any way, They were polite, well priced, professional and very very tidy. As my mum is a widow she asked me to handle everything from start to finish. I went with Gibson and Goold over other companies on the strength of their previous work they had done for people we knew. I'm glad I did. I didn't have to do anything except help pick the fire and the surround that we wanted. They were excellent and my mum didn't whine or complain at me once so they must have been good. Following on from this experience I've just got a lovely Charnwood Stove form them now for my own home so thats 2 jobs they have had from me. Very happy with what they have done for us. Would thoroughly recommend.

My parents bought a fire from G&G in the 60s, so when looking for a wood burner they were my first port of call. Good selection in their showroom and extensive knowledge on tap. I was torn between two stoves and while deliberating was called by G&G with a new fire that had just came on the market and it was cheaper than the other two that I had been looking at. The refundable site survey prior to purchase was also a good USP. Both pieces of work inspired confidence. Installation was a dream, I took time to write to the owner to commend the two installers. They started by taking their shoes off to have a look round. Then shoes back on they started to lay out plastic to protect floors etc. IT was a two day job and they hoovered up after themselves and put everything back the way it was. The fire itself is a Jotul and probably the best investment I have made in the house. I would thoroughly recommend G&G, from start to finish it was a great experience.

Initial contact and installation good. We have a Stovax wood burning fire. Problems with lighting the fire since installation. Every phone call suggested various solutions which we tried. Gave up using fire over summer and restarted in past month. Fire pours out smoke on initial lighting.Eventually discovered it lights with window wide open. Contacted company again, offered to attend "when next in area". We live 15 minute drive away!Contacted them again yesterday with persistent complaint and request to attend------------still waiting. Shocking customer service and serious attitude problem.

The most dispiriting customer service I've ever experienced, and I am still in dispute with this company. Their claimed commitment to quality of service (refer their website) is farcical, and light years away from reality. I purchased an electric fire on a supply and install basis. Problems experienced to date include: - fire faulty on delivery - so noisy it is unusable - firm tried to blame installer (selected by them) - firm suggested I fit felt pads under faulty appliance to reduce vibration - firm refused to uplift faulty fire, leaving me to deal with manufacturer In general, G&G singularly failed to take responsibility for supplying a faulty appliance, and have left me high and dry. All of this has now lasted 12 weeks and is still not resolved. I agree with previous reviewer that I have never experienced such shocking quality of service, and this from a company that at one time did seem to have a reputation for providing a good service. .
