C R James Electrical Ltd

Prompt and courteous service. Always efficient and reliable. I highly recommend Chris James and his staff.

Lewis and Chris have done work for me on 3 occasions in the past 4 years. The latest job was quite big replacing my distribution boards and a lot of other work. They work tidily and are always courteous and professional and leave no mess after leaving. I wouldn’t hesitate using them for my electrical requirements.

Recently had this company install 1 ring doorbell, 1 ring flood cams at the front of the property and 1 at the rear. I also had 1 light fitting installed in one of the upstairs bedrooms. I agreed to pay an hourly rate which seemed reasonable. As I had this work done at my previous property I knew it should only take a few hours max for what was 4 very straightforward installations. The young man who turned up to do the work took all day. Very chatty and clearly not in a rush and to me seemed on the go slow. In hindsight I shouldn't have agreed to the hourly rate and should have got a quote for the work. The total bill came to £492.24 this is almost double what my usual electrican ( who wasnt available for 6 weeks) charged for thr same jobs at my previous property. I contacted the owner of c r James electrical to complain about the extortionate bill. All he said was you agreed to an hourly rate and that if I didn't pay the invoice amount he would take me to the small claims court, and then followed this up with a barage of threatening emails and text messages. Just to check my concerns were valid I got in touch with 2 other local electricians who both said the work should have been £350 max and taken no more than a few hours.

I have been using Chris and his team for many years through both my building and development company. They are my go to electricians and I wouldn’t consider using anyone else, they are punctual, reliable and most of all very knowledgeable in all aspects of electrical installations. They always deliver work on budget and all costs are transparent from the outset.

Their workmanship is spot on, they turn up when they say they will, and I’ve never once had an issue with the quality of their work. What really sets them apart is how smoothly everything runs — no chasing, no problems, no stress. As someone in the trade myself, that level of trust is everything. I recommend them without hesitation.

They also changed all our old halogen downlights to LED throughout the rest of the house. We are extremely pleased with all the work and would highly recommend C R James Electrical.

Only a small job to replace a ceiling light fitting, but undertaken very professionally - prompt courteous and considerate - removed shoes before walking through house - not much debris but nonetheless brought his own hoover to clean up afterwards - it’s these little things which make the difference - no hesitation in recommending

Excellent service today by Lewis. Worked hard and sorted out several electrical issues.

Chris came to investigate a problem with my solar panels. He quickly identified where the problem was located, and arranged a date and time to return with a colleague to resolve the issue. The issue was resolved and the panels are all working perfectly. A very good team, professional and very neat and tidy.

C R James were asked to provide a car charger and associated work for that to be safe and efficient. We live in an older house and the circuits required tests and upgrades for that to happen. They worked according to the schedules of the energy companies and they provided a first class service. Both Chris and Lewis were very polite and made sure that they cleaned up all the “mess” from the job, including vacuuming up all the dust and debris. Everything was discussed and agreed before the job started and communication was excellent. All we had to provide were occasional tea and biscuits. We would highly recommend C R James for any electrical work especially for fitting EV charging.

Chris fitted a new electric hob for us which involved some rewiring and some creative problem solving. Chris' team were very professional, responsive and careful about cleaning up afterwards. We will definitely use Chris again and would recommend him for any electrical work.

Friendly professional tidy service

I highly recommend CR James Electrical for their high quality work. We had major building work done on our house, and Chris and the team worked in a highly professional, calm and tidy manner throughout their time with us. However, what I think marks them out to for special praise concerns communication. At all stages, they explain and show you what they are going to do, how they are going to do it, and the options available. I highly recommend them.
