We had to wait 2 months to get a quotation visit, nice man came and was helpful and measured up, told us he would get a quotation by 2 weeks we're still waiting 8 weeks later even after being chased. Terrible service.

I recently contacted Fords at the start of July about a domestic air conditioning installation. I was advised it was highly achievable, though there would be a slight wait for the hardware due to a national UK shortage of AC units. Within six weeks, I went from living in a scorching house to a home that is perfectly manageable during these incredibly hot days. The team at Fords installed two Daikin internal units and a 7.0kW Daikin 3-port compressor. The entire installation process took just two days. All the engineers on site were fantastic, and their boss even popped round with ice lollies for everyone! Fords accommodated every element of the installation and my specific technical requests. This level of service is especially amazing considering the cost; their quote came in roughly £1,500 cheaper than several competitors and online national installers. All in all, I would highly recommend the Fords team and will absolutely be using their services again for future projects. Not only do I want to say a massive thank you for the flawless service, but as a tight Northerner, thank you for protecting my pocket!

Arran the electrician did the work. He arrived at 8.30am and left just after 3.30pm. He worked solidly with just an hour break for lunch. He was friendly, professional and explained exactly what was being done and everything was checked and showed me that everything was working at the end of the job. He was a pleasure to have doing the work. He cleaned up both inside the house and in the garage where he had been working.

Cannot fault the excellent service I received. All work carried out promptly and efficiently and at a good price. Thoroughly recomend.

Fords installed a heat pump, radiators, solar panels and boiler in our home. Mark and Richard, planned, co-ordinated the installation so well. Communication was really efficient and they always responded really quickly to any queries. And we felt safe having chosen this new system. All the electricians and plumbers worked so hard, politely, to a very high standard and were a joy to have in the house. The groundwork prepared by Jake is neat and tidy. We are delighted with the whole system and special thanks to Giles for patiently explaining the new technology and apps to us. We cannot praise Fords enough and will recommend them in future.

The Engineer did a good job sorting out the problems with my electricity and adding an extra.socket. He kept me informed throughout and the work was completed in a reasonable time frame.

I have been using Fords for many, many years for plumbing and electrical work. This has always been of the highest standard: they are a local company who I can fully trust. I've recently had an electrical installation of new storage heaters including new mains board. Some problems occured with the heaters (Dimplex) and Fords managed the correction of this via the supplier with an incredibly supportive persistence. My thanks to Bobby and Dan in particular (and others). Most recently, I had plumbing repairs and, as with similar work previously, this was completed with amazing application to remedy where others might have been less keen! My thank to Mike here. Grant Miller came the same day, with a colleague to help with lifting a very heavy appliance. Old one taken away, packaging removed, new one installed and tested, all in under an hour. We bought a house a few years ago in the town and one of the bathrooms was really tired. I asked around and a lot of people suggested Fords, so I popped up to the showroom and met a really nice guy called Ryan who is the Plumbing/heating Manager.To cut a long story short they did a great job and the bathroom was stunning. The remaining bathroom and WC now needed doing so obviously I go back to see Ryan at Fords. He popped around to look and measure up and within the week we had a plan and sanitary wares chosen. Both rooms went from tired and mediocre to looking amazing! The team of guys that came around (mainly Max and Sam) were all very nice, polite and worked hard all day and cleaned up properly. The job was done in the allotted time and the rooms are transformed. The next project that comes up I will definitely be calling Ryan again. Highly Recommended.

We had just moved and Steve from Fords came to fit a new combi boiler and worked very hard, also Fords removed a dishwasher and washing machine to replace them with two machines that we brought with us. I would recommend Fords both for their service and work ethic. Needless to say I have used them again to test the electrics of the house and fit a new oven. A one stop shop!

Jake, supported by Sam, visited on 19th December to fit a new woodburning stove. They were incredibly efficient, tidy and cleaned up afterwards, and manhandled the old 140kg stove out of the house and up to their van to dispose of without any complaints at all. They did a fantastic, and fast job! The new stove has made a massive difference to heating. Reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommended.

I had a problem with my hot water cylinder just before the New Year..( hot water pouring out of the ‘pressure relief valve’ ). Fords were able to send an engineer promptly who came, diagnosed the issue and ordered the required part and didn’t leave until he had shown us how to operate it safely before the new part was fitted. The new part was fitted just after the New Year .. and excellent service and great value for money !!

We called Ford's out to deal with a leaking toilet cistern. The engineer who came out was polite, professional and very helpful, and the cost was very reasonable. All round excellent!

Grant fitted new cooker hood which was different from one that had broken. Helped me choose suitable one and fitted it into existing space such that no one would know anything had been disturbed. Cleaned up and vacuumed .a good job done. Thanks.

Brilliant place helped me out with my washing machine as it was broke and the nice man who came to fix my machine said he had a spare one around the yard and said would I like to lend the one he’s got until we was able to sort a new one out for myself. He didn’t have to do that, I’d 100% recommend to anyone 😊💯 The man that needs a mention is (GRANT) nice guy 🫡

Fords did a complete refurbishment of our cloakroom and we are very pleased with the result. Duncan kept us informed throughout and the fitters, James and Ben were punctual, tidy and polite.

Fords have just completed an upgrade to our walk-in shower area with new tiling and fitments. All work has been completed on time and to the highest standards. We cannot praise Duncan, George and Ben highly enough for their commitment to doing a great job, with good communication all through the process and excellent care for our home. We are very happy.

Needed a leak dealing with, they sent someone over the same afternoon who resolved the problem quickly and professionally. Cost was quite a bit less that I'd anticipated as well.

My Immersion Heater packed up....felt like the end of the world. One Enquiry to Fords, and the problem was resolved in both a timely and cost effective manner. An economical new cylinder was ordered, installed, the "confused" existing wiring was rectified. The house was immaculately clean and tidy- and James was the ultimate professional. We'd only been in the house 2 weeks and the fitted washing machine wasn't working properly. Grant one of the plumbers came out, he was courteous, friendly and highly efficient. We moved into our property in early August with no hotwater, dodgy electrics and no central heating. The existing bathroom and kitchen were 50 years old and not fit or even safe for purpose. Enter Fords, we first met Bobby and Ryan who took time to review the issues and work out viable and practical solutions. A few days later and we started to meet members of the team, every single one took time and care to help us. The house was a mess, we were spending hours tearing up and removing old carpets and Lino trying to create "clean" spaces. From lead engineers Will and James to the less experienced members of the time they all cared as much as we did, swaping boots for socks and back. The trust we have built with Fords over the last month is hard fought for but they have done it with ease. Every single job they have started has been finished on time, on budget and far exceeds our expectation. Will we work with them again? Without a doubt, next time and everytime. Thank you to everyone that has been part of this project so far.

Fords replaced my old boiler with a new Worcester Bosch combi. Mark provided excellent advice about the product and a competitive quote. The work was carried over two days by the engineer, Dan, who was polite, efficient and kept any disruption to a minimum. My overall experience with Fords was very positive.

I am very satisfied with the service provided by Fords comprising plumbing, electrical and shower installation works. Ryan visited us, helped to fine-tune our requirements and promptly provided a fully itemised quote. Dates for the work were quickly scheduled and kept to. The work was undertaken to a high quality, the house was kept clean and tidy during the works. All the staff were helpful and good communicators. We are very pleased in particular with our walk in shower, which has transformed our bathroom.

I have used Fords for many years. They have kept an old oil fired boiler going and done numerous jobs for me including fitting an electric oven and hob after I had moved to a new address. The workmen are great, work well in an efficient and clean manner and treat customers very well. The office staff on the switchboard are a pleasure to deal with, polite, clearly spoken, always helpful and cheerful. I highly recommend the company.

We had a replacement Worcester Bosch combi boiler fitted. A quotation was provided promptly with good product advice. Installation staff (plumbers, electrician) were professional, courteous, respectful of our property and kept us informed as to what was going on throughout. All work was carefully performed and finished to a very good standard. Overall, a very professional job.

We have been totally satisfied with the way the job was carried out. The engineers worked extremely hard and were a pleasure to have around despite the obstructions that were inevitably caused at times. All the engineers involved worked quietly and efficiently and the quality of workmanship appeared very high. Fords installed a new Worcester Bosch boiler , the work was clean and efficiently completed. The staff are excellent but need more training on installing the newer types of controller ( digital displays with Wi-Fi access).

We have recently had a replacement dishwasher fitted by Grant Miller of Fords SW.We found Grant to be very helpful and pleasant and when confronted by problems that were unexpected he remained positive and calm and never once did he express anything other than some humour and patience and continue to complete the task.We would thoroughly recommend Grant as an excellent worker who sticks at the job and makes customers feel relaxed and reassured.

We had a problem with the stock cock, It was leaking. We phoned Fords and an engineer was sent out the same day! Unfortunately due to us having a strange fitting on our water meter the Engineer was unable to fix the problem. They worked closely with Southwest water to resolve this problem. It took ten weeks for Southwest water to meet up with the plumber (So they could turn the water off)! While he fixed the problem. He even fitted a lever valve which is much easier to use!They also gave us a reduced bill (as it was two call outs). They realised it was beyond our control so this was very nice of them. I would highly recommend this company you will be in safe hands.

I called Ford's as I needed a gas safety check on a boiler. The lady who took my booking was nice and polite and proceeded to book my job in. I got a booking for two days later. The engineer turned up at the given time. His name was Dan, he did a great job and kept me informed all the way. Dan actually did not pass the boiler which was no surprise to me as the boiler is actually 40 years old. This was the result I wanted on the boiler, why? Well that's a long story! The service I got from Ford's was perfect. I can certainly recommend Ford's and if the need arises I would call them first. Aran in the office was a great help to me also. Thank you Ford's.

An extractor fan in the cloakroom area began to play up, failing to work properly. I phoned Fords, to see if they could help. Someone was around to the house within three hours, replaced it and solved the issue. Well done Fords!

A worrying Central Heating leak was traced to an underfloor heating manifold just before Christmas, 21 Dec. The manifold was installed 13 years ago but spare valve switches located and were fitted on the morning of Christmas Eve. An excellent service all round - thank you!

Absolutely fabulous throughout the whole (complex) process! Fords have just installed my Air Source Heat Pump heating & water system. From my initial encounter with Mark, I felt totally confident that they were the right people to have in my home. The level of professionalism, courtesy, knowledge & care shown by Henry specifically was outstanding. His calm approach was always reassuring. Giles was also excellent, keeping me entertained with a running commentary of his progress!! Julie arranged for Darren to attend my property within a couple of hours of my call and when he arrived he soon identifified the problem. On this occasion is turned out to be a roof leak rather than a plumbing leak but, nonetheless, Darren investigated thoroughly to identify the source of the problem. New boiler fitted without any discussion or advice on the most suitable site, saying “we will just put it where the old boiler was”. This has proved very inefficient, having to waste a lot of water running to get it hot, lots of ugly pipe work outside my property which I didn’t have with the old boiler, and which I wasn’t told about beforehand. I was better off with my old boiler, and it has all cost me a great deal of money. Oh, and I am an OAP….so nice treatment and respect!! What a big mistake trusting and hiring Fords!

I had Fords in to do a full rewire on a property renovation. Everything went very smoothly, and there were no complaints at me using my own plan and wanting to make several amendments along the way. Bobby is very easy to work with, and I got the impression that nothing was too much trouble. On the ground, Giles (and helpmate) were really good to us, even though I had them changing plans occasionally. Giles is polite and very trustworthy, I had no worries about leaving keys to the property with them.

We have used Fords twice and been very happy with the price and workmanship. This time Fords fitted a new shower unit and bathroom floor at times which worked for us. Manager Ryan provided a personal point of contact throughout and the service was professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Fords was recommended to me by my parents, who have used their services several times before. We weren't sure that they would be able to help me as I live quite a long way from Sidmouth, but Grant travelled to replace our washing machine door seal and we have had no leaks since. He was very efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly, and I would highly recommend him and Fords!

I wasn't sure quite what to expect with the upcoming works I had ordered with Fords. I new it would be disruptive but just by how much I wasn't sure. The whole central heating system in my house had to be replaced ... including all pipework and radiators and the associated bits and pieces ... a lot of kit! It took two weeks to achieve all this and during the two coldest weeks of the year! but the job was carried out to the highest professional standards by very courteous engineers headed up by Dan who was perfect ... nothing was too much trouble and any problem he managed to solve easily and very hard working throughout. Now we have a properly warm house for the first time in 20 years. I'm so glad that we chose Fords! Paul

I noticed my old outside oil boiler was leaking in November. On investigation it was beyond repair so I asked a number of local companies to quote on a new one. Fords were the last to come, gave me the best quote (for exactly the same spec), and managed to schedule the work well before Christmas. There were a few unexpected challenges for them, but they sorted these for me, and the original quote stood. My new boiler is so much more efficient. Thank you to Mark who came to quote the job, and Jaime who got the boiler installed on time (despite some inclement weather!). Highly recommended.

We appointed Fords for both electrical, and plumbing. For a full house refurbishment. Not only were they the cheapest, They turned up on time, Very professional and did a great job. From start to finish couldn’t fault them.

We have had extensive work completed by Ford’s which included a new boiler, radiators, high pressure cylinder (by Dan and Max), new electrical consumer unit, all new lighting in the house and garage, re wire of the kitchen (by Wills & Co). All work was carried out very professionally, neatly and at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend the services of Ford’s as from the first visit by each project manager (Mark for plumbing and Bobby for electrical) through to the technicians completing the work the level of professionalism was excellent. We will soon be back to seek thier services in order to refit 2 bathrooms….such is the level of our confidence in getting a great job done by them.

James, the fitter was lovely, his workmanship was excellent, he explained everything as he went along, worked in an exceptionally tidy manner. Henry and Curtis were two very personable and professional young men. They arrived exactly on time to fit my new boiler which took 4 days of exceptional work. New pipe work was necessary, needing to be fitted from one side of my house to the other, through the loft to the boiler. At all times they were both polite and informative and they cleaned up well each day. On completion they vacuumed wherever they had been working. I cannot praise them enough, they were outstanding. The only mishap was getting the correct pressure from the gas which was remedied by speaking to Worcester Boilers who had changed their requirements. I would highly recommend Fords based on my experience.

Excellent management and delivery. We had the cold water tank removed from our loft and a new hot water boiler fitted with the required upgrade to pipe work etc. Real “hands on” management by Ryan Watson Plumbing and Heating Contracts Manager, both electronically and in person. Jack’s pipework in our linen cupboard is a work of art and perfection. He and Curtis worked their socks off and nothing was too much trouble. Covered the flooring; cleaned up, a pleasure to have in our home. Jack was a Ford apprentice and now a skilled practitioner mentoring his own apprentice. A highly successful strategy. All brickwork tidied up by follow up team. We recommend without reservation.

Fords have completed two projects for me in recent months, Solar PV + battery installation & Infrared Heater Panel installation. The engineering team were the most professional I have experienced. All work was carried out with the minimum disruption (or mess). I was consulted at all appropriate times & my (Many) questions readily answered. I really can’t praise the Fords team enough. We had a Weston power, power surge. Fords have been looking after us. Jack is on the ball, to help replace items as soon as he can.. we’ll done Fords so far so good. The two guys that came with my washer today were also great.

We recently had Fords here for a big job getting a completely new boiler and new pipework and radiators throughout our house. Steve, Jack and Josh were great through the whole process, clear at communicating and very friendly. They made a job that involved a lot of upheaval throughout the house as comfortable as possible and we would absolutely recommend.

Frustratingly poor service. We bought a new property in Feb 2020 and it had an oil fired boiler. We noticed it needed a service and it's pressure release valve discharge pipe was dripping so booked it in with Fords. They came and told us the boiler needed a new pressure release valve and so we asked them to proceed. It took them another 3 visits to finally fix as they kept coming back with incorrect parts. I chalked this down to a one-off and so this year I booked in with Fords to get the boiler serviced again. I was told my appointment was at 10am so organised my work around this. 10am came and went and when it got to 11am I rang Fords to find out what was happening. I was told the engineer was still at his first job and I was next on the list but couldn't provide a time that I could expect him to arrive. I had to go out as I had a site visit of my own to attend to and, unlike Fords, I don't like to leave my clients waiting. I explained this was not good enough and he'd have to come back later that day once I'd returned. Fords told me they couldn't do that and I'd have to book another date. I'm afraid that's just not good enough for me so they've lost my custom. I just hope this review helps them improve their service and others aren't treated so poorly.

Very helpful so much easier than having to go to Exeter or search the Internet. So much quicker as well.

Kitchen & Utility Refurbishment I came to Fords Southwest as they came recommended in the area for an excellent complete service. The design & project management by Darcy Alexander fully utilised the space and helped me through the whole process. His attention to detail really helped me through my choices in the design, giving me the kitchen & utility room I asked for. Julian's craftsmanship was second to none and the electrical team also did a great job. I really recommend them and will be using Ford's for future projects. Many Thanks Mr C Martin

Good place to shop with knowledge long standing.

Fords undertook complete remodelling and refitting of two bathrooms, including relocating / rebuilding a stud wall to accommodate the new layouts. Their team was always polite and courteous, always on time, and despite the extensive builder's work mostly very tidy. They were always enthusiastic and keen to please, and to make sure the job was done well. The whole work was finished on time, within the agreed budget and variations, and all done despite the logistic problems of the lockdown. Thanks to Duncan, Ben and all for a great job! Highly recommended for similar work. ** Edit November 2020 - I was so please with the bathroom refurbishment described above that I asked Fords to lay a new wood-effect laminate ("click") floor for my kitchen - again, excellent work from Fords, done on time to schedule and cost by a professional and friendly installer!

Great service. Had a new combi boiler fitted recently. The lads were clean, tidy and professional and done a great job. All this was achieved during the current pandemic abiding to social distacing rules and at a very competitive price. Thanks, very happy.

I have used Fords South West for my business and at home for more than 20 years, always professional with clear advice and tradesman/engineers that know what they are doing, at the end you get a fully itemized bill no hidden extras.

The DIY counter are always so helpful and I learn something every time I talk to them!

Great service every time.

Our plumber was extremely helpful but the administration is woeful. I had to follow up with them 3 times, first for a quote, second because they sent out the wrong part and third to ask them to return and fit the correct part.

Poor customer service, Website says they do 10-year payment plan on Boilers, but when you ask they said they only do 2 years, You push again and then they say 5 years. They said they would update the website to stop advertising services they do not hold but has yet to be seen. I was told they would give me a call back but nothing yet.

Came to do a quote for my parents for replacement heaters. Said that the quote would be posted and nothing has ever showed up and not even a call. Would not recommend!

So nice it be able to purchase what you want and take it away same day. Delivery an option too. No 20 days wait like its competitors.

Absolutely terrible service. Having obtained a quote for some work 6 months ago I then waited for my promised call - it never came. When I rang again I was told I would receive a call back - that never happened either. Rang again 7 days ago and was told I would receive a call back - shouldn't come as a surprise to know that that call never materialised either. I've given this company every opportunity, but am now cutting my losses. Totally unreliable. I have to give one star in order to post this but if it were possible I would give zero stars.
