Many customers praise the company for prompt boiler servicing, heat pump installations, and electrical or plumbing repairs, highlighting friendly engineers who leave work areas tidy. However, several reviewers report negative experiences, including incomplete or poor-quality plumbing fixes, missed appointments, and unhelpful office follow-up. Concerns are also raised about high pricing, upfront payment requirements, and additional call-out charges for unresolved issues.

Everyone I spoke to was very helpful and professional and the plumber that did the work did a great job and explained everything perfectly. But I have to say it really grinds to have to pay two call out charges because the plumber doesn't carry the parts needed, particularly when the part was clearly in stock as the first visit was Friday and the part had been found by the second visit on Monday. There must be a better way to do this.
We have used switched on in the past for electrical and plumbing work. Always very responsive and reliable.
Luke the electrician was great. He fitted the oven efficiently and tidyly and was very professional and polite.
Had SwitchedOn help me with electrical work several times recently and they're really useful. Very prompt and easy to deal with. Really like Paul he's really fast and quick to assist with any issues. I have subsequently used SwitchedOn again. I had some very wiring issues which Scarlett promptly arranged for Paul to visit and diagnose. Paul quickly, effectively, and safely fixed the issue. Scarlett was great at coordinating too. More positive interactions with this fantastic local and consumer focused business.
Paul changed three lights for us and replaced two sockets. He was brilliant- would definitely recommend! Thank you
SwitchedOn installed my boiler a few years ago and have serviced it annually ever since. The engineers are courteous, efficient and professional. I had a number of questions about energy use and efficiency which they helped me with. I look forward to seeing them again next year!
Excellent heat pump service by David, and I appreciate the honest advice as well. Much more reasonably priced than servicing directly through Daikin.
I cannot fault Switched On London - both office staff and the engineer were excellent and professional. I had a tricky domestic electrical job to do - the reattachment of the plate for a plug socket which had been partially ripped from the wall. I was nevous about getting this sorted to a high standard. The repair was completed within the hour and the standard was very high. It now looks very clean and tidy and most importantly works again! I thoroughly recommend Switched On London.
We had work done at our commercial property, and we are very happy with the service provided. We always like to support other local businesses, and from the first communication to the completion of the job, everyone was very friendly and professional. After the initial call-out, Annabelle was easy to communicate with and efficient at organising engineers to complete the job. Daniel and Frankie came to complete all the plumbing work, explained everything clearly, and were patient and accommodating, especially since it was a full day's work. Then Mehdi came to complete the electrics swiftly. The team were awesome, and we are satisfied with all the work carried out. Also, their payment system method was so easy and straightforward, which is always a relief. Thanks again :)
Second time using Switched on London and they have been great. Paul was amazing, friendly and very patient with my questions and work was completed to a good standard. Would definitely recommend and use Switched on London again!
We have used David and the switched on team for a Heat Pump and AirCon installation during our house Refurb. The team where on point from minute 1, they integrated seamlessly with our PM and main building contractor, the final outcome is super, with positioning / functionality precisely what we wanted. Would heartily recommend and would for sure use switched on again. Big thank you to the team.
Anthony was really helpful and was able to advise us on several issues over what we originally enquired about. He explained everything well and he was polite and helpful. Update: a few things to note. As soon as you are sent a quotation, SO will start emailing you to chase for late payment which is incredibly pushy and a big turn off. If it is a system issue, change your system! You also have to pay in full upfront, a very one sided tactic. Asking for a deposit is far more reasonable and protects both parties against loss. Work done was fine.
This company I have used for the past few years now, they have always been super friendly, highly professional and well organised, I m so happy to have found some decent engineers who really understand what they are doing. Well done team, especially Guy , top chap ! Thank you so much
Tony came to service my boiler on the 3rd March. He was very efficient and also very friendly and informative. Very pleased with the service and excellent communications from Switched On.
Excellent as ever. Largely a routine boiler service but Anthony gave very helpful explanations of few basic heating maintenance tips as well as very thorough safety checks. Also solved a dripping water pipe joint very quickly. Always impressed by how easy this company is to deal with and seem reliable after several appointments with them.
Friendly booking service, and were helpful to inform me about timings and delays etc. David was the technician who came to inspect my ASHP. He was friendly and polite, and came in and quickly got to it. He told me what he thought was wrong (some settings), and that he cleaned out the filter on the Heat Pump. He then took the time to explain what changes he made, why he made them and just gave a general explanation on how the system works. Being new to ASHP I had a lot of question that he patiently answered. David was very knowledgeable and was even kind enough (as I had some time left for the pre booked hour) to help me with adjusting the valve on my showers to allow more hot water! Highly recommend, and will be using their services for any other problems, as well as servicing my ASHP
We’ve used Switched On on a few occasions and we’ve been very happy with the service. Most recently we had Anthony to come and check on a few issues with our central heating and he dealt with everything very efficiently and in a professional manner. He provided suggestions and advice which we found very useful. Switched On is our first choice for any issues around the house.
We had some plumbing work done at our property and were really pleased with the service. David, the engineer, was efficient, polite and tidy — he left everything clean and organised. The work was completed to a high standard and without any disruption. It was a little on the pricey side, but overall the quality and professionalism made it a very good experience. We’d happily use them again.
Heat pump and Thermino, tricky installation due to site limitations, but all carried out without fuss. System working since May and house stayed warm in recent very cold weather. Because it’s unfamiliar technology, I had a couple of queries after installation and Switched On were very responsive.
I did have a visit from Anthony (SwitchOn London) and he was an absolute star from start to finish. He drove me through the gas check that he was doing and the replacement he made. Shown me also photos of what he did. He also thought me a couple of important things I should know about the boiler pressure and how to change that with the key he kindly ordered for me. He has made life saving recommendations (HSSE) to the agency/landlord also when he found an high risk feature and I am so grateful for that. He refreshed also how to use the thermostat. 5 star, I couldn’t recommend h enough.
Anthony was incredibly professional - he completed the job with the utmost efficiency and dedication. He arrived exactly on time and provided practical recommendations in relation to safety. Highly recommend!
Antony delivered a super boiler service today! He was really attentive, detail oriented and explained everything very carefully to make sure I understood everything I needed to know and could troubleshoot my boiler myself. He was very friendly and considerate of my home. He was receptive to other queries I had regarding an electrical matter and made sure to refer me to the correct resource and took time to organise a quote for me. Thank you!!
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company. I initially had a plumber attend to repair a simple leaking tap and seal another leak. While the leaking tap was repaired, it was not refitted correctly. A second plumber was sent to address the issue, but the tap still has not been installed properly, and the seal continues to leak. I contacted the company and was told I would receive a call back, but I have not heard anything since.
Had blocked sink drains. Spoke to a human I think but was more like a chatbot. Was quoted £95 which then went up to £135 + VAT in the course of the call. Two young guys came the next day and unblocked the sinks in about half an hour, but which were still draining slowly afterwards. One week later the problem was back. Just had an actual drainage expert come and fix the problem properly. SwitchedOn were recommended by someone I trust but this was a bad experience and £162 wasted.
Two absolute great lads, Daniel and Frankie, attended my flat and quickly fixed my toilet in well under the estimated time I was quoted. They were polite, friendly, considerate and just generally great lads. The pair could not have gone further out of their way to help me as I was wfh and in meetings whilst they were at the flat. The toilet has been working perfectly since they attended. Less impressed with other aspects of the service provided - specifically being quoted for additional time that was not needed to complete the job.
UPDATE August 2025 I need to report that management did get in touch and have since visited the property twice and I finally have a resolution to my outdoor tap. David persisted in finding a resolution and has shown integrity and commitment. We all make mistakes at times, but it's what you do to repair that matters, and Switched On have indeed repaired. I have amended my review to 3 stars which is an honest review based on my experience, and I'm confident when I call on them again, it will be 5 stars! ORIGINAL REVIEW JUNE 2025 I have deliberated for some time before leaving this review, but as a client I do feel very let down. The scope of the work was very clear - to increase water flow to the back garden and having scoped the work in advance, the advice was to convert from an open vented system to a sealed system to increase water pressure. This job was completed swiftly and professionally and indeed increased pressure within the house, but sadly made no change to being able to water the garden effectively. The outcome we needed had not been achieved. I then had crazy conversations with the lead engineer, who I realised had not read the initial call out sheet and didn't appreciate the scope of the work. He never tested the outdoor tap on completing the job because he didn't realise that was the main reason for the work. Tanya in the office was brilliant because she was honest and admitted the mistake/ oversight saying they "will resolve the outdoor tap issue and put matters to bed." The engineer did return and show me how the water pressure was showing an increase, but had no solution to the fact the flow was still inadequate. I am still unable to water the garden effectively but have spent close to £4,000. Believing that they are keen to resolve this, I have asked them to come out again to see what the solution is for FLOW rates and have been asked to pay another call out charge! Seriously? Apparently because they were never asked to test water flow in the initial job spec. As a client I feel unheard. I feel as if bottom line profit is more important than customer satisfaction. I get a sense they may be overtrading, as there have been major mistakes made right from the start. -On receiving the quote, I paid the initial deposit invoice back in April, but questioned the amount. They had omitted to add in the labour charge so had to refund my deposit and reissue a new invoice. - The lead engineer failed to read the job spec notes and thought he was changing the system internally to increase pressure within the house. - The lead engineer name dropped all the large commercial jobs he was involved in ( bit unprofessional) and I just got a sense of work overwhelm -On completing the job, no-one tested the outdoor tap. I hope this is read in the spirit in which it is intended, as I do get a sense that SOL is a very professional business with the majority of customers getting great customer service. I've even recommended friends to them as I was so confident they would find a solution. However I do hope someone in the management team will read this with a fresh set of eyes and ask themselves -" if I were this customer, how would I be feeling?"
I feel obliged to share my deeply frustrating experience with Switched On London (SOL). I initially hired them for 2 projects - a kitchen tap replacement and a toilet conversion - but ended up finding alternative solutions for both after numerous disappointments. Based on my interactions with them, I felt SOL prioritised their interests above mine as a customer. Their approach seemed to take advantage of the information gap between customer and professional knowledge. The positive reviews here on Google Maps that convinced me to use them seemed completely disconnected from my actual experience. (Long complaints below...) 1. Kitchen Tap Replacement: paid £108 for nothing Because my kitchen tap started leaking, I called SOL in desperation on a Monday morning. I clearly communicated that I wanted the tap fixed or replaced ASAP. They assured me a plumber was available until noon and would come that morning. I paid £108 upfront for their first hour of service. The plumber arrived at 9am and spent about 10 minutes examining the tap, confirming what I already knew - that it needed replacing. We then discussed which new tap model to buy (~10 minutes). I offered to quickly get the agreed new tap from a nearby Screwfix, but the plumber said he needed to "report the situation" to the company first, and went back to his van to make the phone call (why not in front of me?) - for another 10 minutes. When he returned, he informed me that "company policy" meant he couldn't complete the work in this visit. This made no sense to me as (1) the plumber was free until noon, (2) he should have brought all necessary tools to carry out possible works, (3) we had confirmed the tap model and I could quickly get that model from a nearby Screwfix. They couldn't explain why a second visit is required. In the end, the plumber left at about 9:40am, despite I'd paid for a full hour with expectation of a straightaway fix, leaving me distressed with a continuously leaking tap. After chasing them throughout the rest of Monday and Tuesday, they finally responded with a quote for an additional 2 hours of labour, bringing this to 3 hours of charges in total (£324) which seems excessive for an ordinary tap replacement. They also insisted on ordering the tap themselves with a 20% markup over retail price, claiming this was necessary to ensure compatibility. This felt like an unnecessary cost being passed to me, especially since we had already confirmed the exact model needed. I ultimately hired another plumber who completed the exact same job perfectly within 1 hour for £150 - less than half of SOL's quote. This plumber installed the exact same tap model that I confirmed with SOL's plumber. 2. Toilet Conversion: months of broken promises Before the kitchen tap problem, initially I was hoping to hire SOL for my toilet conversion project last November. In November 2024, SOL's director promised my toilet conversion project would start in January 2025. By mid-January, they suddenly informed me they'd "had some incidents during Christmas" that would delay my project. They indeed provided the option for a refund, but I decided to keep patient (a big regret in hindsight). In mid-March, they conducted a site visit, giving me false hope. Only after more chasing did I learn they couldn't begin until late May 2025 - 5~6 months delay from what was originally promised. Due to personal arrangements, I needed this toilet to be completed by the end of April. Had I known about this delayed timeline, I would never have engaged their services and could have hired another company months ago. Now I'm scrambling to find someone who can complete this essential project before our deadline. While they efficiently refunded the deposit, their T&C cleverly avoid any liability for customer's time and money lost caused by their internal arrangements. Customers bear nearly all risk while SOL maintains the freedom to delay, reschedule, or extend work with minimal consequence.
Avoid like the plague. They are absolutely inept. Problems have included breaking through tiles to change a tap. Leaving damage covered by plastic bags. Fitting taps upside down. Being unable to fix a dripping toilet and explaining that the issue was a blocked filter - when there is no filter mechanism to be blocked in the first place. Honestly this is the worst experience I have ever had with any contractor. My dog could have done a more professional job.
Not impressed with them at all. They asked for my feedback, I've given it to them and no one has responded. I'd be happy to chat the below with them. 1. Communication lacking. Very quick to take payment, very slow to confirm the job. Plumber late to the appt today so was left waiting around for him to arrive. 2. Cost. Plumber was here for 45 minutes to replace a part that costs less than £50 but charged over £300. 3. Mess. On both occasions plumber left a mess on the kitchen work surfaces. On the second occasion the plumber left marks in my marble worktop. 4. Job quality. Plumber obviously didn’t test the system after the repair, completed the job and left the house. 10 mins later we had to call him to come back as the boiler system was still losing pressure and there was a leak I had actually pointed out at the start of the work. He just left it. When he came back he did the quickest dirtiest fix he could do to get out of there as quickly as possible. He’s left one of my pipes capped off to bypass a faulty pressure valve instead of replacing it. I’m now left with little confidence the job has been done to a good standard.
The extremely rude electrician driving the Van reg ML68 EKG around 9am July 25th cut me off, and after hearing 'If you continue to disrespect me, I'll leave a negative review on your Business, shrugged it off and said "Like I care", and rolled up the window. So for the SwitchedOn Team Admin reading this, Please follow-up with the corresponding driver of this van at this time, and let him know he should have more concern for the business he's representing, and not shrug off a polite request to be treated with decency.
3 different visits, 3 payments to fix 1 leaky toilet
Switched on A very frustrating and painful experience. After a short circuit in the flat left me without a boiler, I called switched on, which were quick to book a repair. I was given a 2-hour window 2-4, and frustratingly the electrician arrived after four knowing that they usually finish at 5! I explained the issue and the most likely location of the issue, but understandably, he had to go through the whole circuit to check. In my inexperienced eyes, he was struggling and could not identify the issue for more than an hour and a half and needed the help of his supervisor, who came by and guided him. As a result, even after invoicing for 3.5 hours, they left the wiring in a temporary fix so they could return to complete the job. I had to chase them up for the revisit and then was sent another quotation for another £300+!! After contacting them with my discontent due to being asked to be charged twice an extortionate amount, they didn’t even leave me a circuit drawing to explain what they did temporarily so that I could not seek any other source. This experience was very disappointing and highly frustrating. In the end, another electrician fixed the problem for nearly a third of what they quoted me, and ironically the line manager asked me not to leave negative feedback! I would ask you to be wary as I will not be using their services again!
Poor. Serviced boiler and charged separately for megaflow (total over £200) and didn't check radiators at all. Then installed awful cheap loo in place of existing Duravit (top spec) - for £600! Not impressed.
We had a terrible experience with Switched On and are worried about other families getting ripped off. The plumber that they sent to fix our toilets took an hour and a half (£160) looking at them trying to diagnose the issue, he actually made one of the toilets unusable. We then received a quotation from Switched On for over £1,000 to come back and fix them…….after doing a bit of research we realised that this was completely extortionate. We went back out and found another plumber who fixed all the problems for £150. Don’t use this company.
We used them f to check of a few ielectrical issues. The first visit was allright but then had to call 3 times and send several emails for follow up and next visit was delayed plus wanted a £360 deposit 13 days ahead to book the next visit. We also have plumbing work to do but we will not work with them.
Unprofessional and disorganised! Despite having a very disappointing experience last time I reached out to switched on, due to the engineer running extremely late, and the office not informing me about this, I thought I would try their services once again as they are a small local business. Unfortunately, the same exact thing happened! The engineer did not show up! The office didn’t know what was going on or how late they would be.
AVOID THIS COMPANY. When I had a family situation & had to postpone our appointment they were immediately extremely rude & intimidating. Deeply unprofessional & personally upsetting. AVOID them.
Rip off. Poor service. We bought our house in June 2018. The previous owners paid Switched On £6590 to completely re wire and fit all new LED lighting in the whole house. They also received a 10 year guarantee for their work and a manufacturers guarantee for the fittings. This work was done in May 2017 so not long enough ago to refuse to come back and fix the bathroom lights that no longer work! The guarantee is also good for the work completed. They just fob us off and tell us to contact the manufacturer. Switched On installed them, they re wired it. They should have noticed an issue and should rectify it. Switched On should come back and fix them for free and honour your guarantee instead of fobbing us off. The guarantee is for the house and is valid until May 2027! Don't believe their response! Their plumbing is also a complete rip off. On July we had issues with our hot water tank and called Switched On. They charged us £254 for a call out to do absolutely nothing to fix the issue except tell us tell they needed to completely drain down our hot water tank to fix a valve. They said it would take half a day and require 2 men! And that it would cost a further £1500!!! I got 3 other quotes from independent plumbers and all 3 quoted less than £200 to change the valve and laughed at Switched On's con about needing to drain it down completely just to replace a valve! They all said it was unnecessary and a blatant example of treating a female client as foolish and gullible. I got the issue sorted a few days later by a lovely trustworthy local plumber for £180 and there have been absolutely no problems since and it's now 6 months later! Don't bother responding with more lies Switched On. Hopefully people will avoid using you after reading the truth above!
