Many customers report prompt emergency call-outs, clear communication from office staff, and effective repairs for boilers, water leaks, and blocked drains. However, critical reviews highlight delays, missed appointments, and instances where homes were left without heating or hot water for several days. Other complaints involve unexpected extra charges, incorrect tradespeople dispatched for electrical work, and disputes regarding insurance coverage for repairs.

I just wanted to leave a really positive review for A Lings Group Ltd following their recent work on my boiler. They were appointed by my insurers on Tuesday 28th April, and I’ve been genuinely impressed by how quickly and efficiently everything was managed from start to finish. The turnaround was excellent — the issue was identified, the part ordered, and the job fully completed by Thursday 30th April. A big thank you to the office team, especially Sian and Lacy, for being so helpful, responsive, and organised throughout. Communication was clear and reassuring at every stage. Also, a special mention to Nigel, the gas engineer, who was professional, knowledgeable, and got everything sorted quickly and smoothly. It’s not often you see this level of speed and coordination — really appreciated and highly recommended!
Very prompt response to emergency plumbing issue. Dealt with the issue efficiently and professionally. Very polite and courteous. Kept me informed of what he was doing. Great company to use - will do again
John came out to fix a burst water pipe. Extremely helpful and answered all my questions and showed me how to do some repairs myself. Cleaned up aswell.
Lings are the favoured contractors for my insurance company, Axa Assistance. I wasn’t over impressed by the competence of their drainage operatives but as far as plumbing and heating goes, they have a gem in Lee, who knows his stuff and goes about his business very professionally and effectively
A Plumber came on 19th of March, what a Conman !!! He was sent by my insurers as water was leaking under my sink, the reason for this was my necklace had dropped through the plughole and I couldn't retrieve it, so I unscrewed the screw in the middle but didn't put it back together properly as I was rushing to get to my best friend's funeral. If I had not been rushing a very simple job !!! My son called me and said the plumber said its not covered by your insurance but he can fix it privately...I spoke to the plumber who said we charge £90 an hour plus vat and this job will take around an hour and a half cos I have to cut some of the pipe work back and reattach a part.. No idea why this was ... So I said all I did was unscrew the screw at the centre of the plug how could all this need doing ?? He coughed a few times and said Oh let me take another look.....2 seconds later he said I've screwed it back in and it seems fine .... My mistake!!!! Please be careful of these charlatans....My son said he couldn't get out of the house quick enough.
My call-out (via Swinton insurance) was for a gas boiler issue. I cannot fault our attending engineer today , ALPAY MUSTAFA. He was courteous, friendly and professional on his visit to fix my boiler. Most importantly, he diagnosed and resolved my boiler fault in next to no time ! A credit to A Lings group ltd. 👍 Thank you.
After a few intial hiccups installing a new toilet the Managing Director Aaron Lings personally stepped in and sorted out all of the issues .. this is a guy who cares passionately about the reputation of his business and will take it upon himself to resolve any outstanding problems and go the extra mile, in a "win/win" successful outcome for both parties concerned Many thanks Aaron for your integrity on this one Well done .. you smashed it !!! Grant and Kye came to access a recurring water leak on our property. This was done over 2-days and they did a fantastic job. From the minute they turned up they were determined to find the leak which they did after removing a huge amount of soil, paving and concrete. During the excavation they found an extra damaged soil pipe which they also repaired. The weather was not on their side but they continued to work through the rain and they were covered in mud from head to toe! They finished the job in the dark at 7.30pm with the leaks fixed, our water back on and the hole back-filled. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
John Moore at A Lings Group Limited did an excellent job fixing my leaking tap. He was punctual, efficient, and clearly very knowledgeable. The repair was carried out quickly and to a high standard, and he was friendly and professional throughout. Highly recommended.
Thank you for A.Lings and Jess especially for unblocking our kitchen drain when we thought we had thought of everything! She managed to fixed it in minutes! Her service was great! Not only did they get back to us very quickly and efficiently but got the job done in the same matter! Thanks so much Jess!
Trevor & Dan from A Lings are absolute lifesavers! After three long weeks of drainage and bathroom issues and multiple people/companies coming out who simply couldn’t fix the problem, we were at our wits’ end, then Trevor & Dan came in and everything changed. From the moment they arrived, they brought calm, clarity and real expertise. They took the time to properly assess the situation (not just patch it up), explained everything clearly, and approached the job with a level of knowledge and efficiency that immediately inspired confidence. Within a short space of time, they’d diagnosed and fixed what no one else had been able to resolve. What really stood out, beyond the technical skill, was their manner. Friendly, kind, professional and genuinely invested in helping us get back to normal. They went above and beyond, offering advice and reassurance throughout, and never once made us feel like “just another job”. After weeks of disruption, they quite literally gave us our home back. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
Aaron and his team have been superb with any call-outs or quotes that have been placed. Speedy responses and always willing to help. Highly recommend.
The plumber and his trainee was very polite during the job but unfortunately we found it odd to receive an added invoice two weeks after a job has been completed with an extra charge that we were informed about.. poor communication hence poor rating. Luckily we only had a minor plumbing issue but we won't be recommending or coming back to this service.
I can’t recommend Ola highly enough! He came to replace my cistern after it broke and started leaking, and from start to finish he was friendly, professional, and efficient. Not only did he fix the cistern perfectly, but he even went the extra mile to fix my wobbly toilet seat—something I wasn’t expecting at all. It’s rare to find a tradesperson who is so thorough, reliable, and genuinely pleasant to have around. I’ll definitely be using A Lings again in the future.
Hi A Lings, Reviewers. Here is my review 4 start thought of giving 3 but this is for Danny with a bit of interesting situation in. Subject: Boiler pressure leaking (prv) Medium: AA Insurance. Story or Struggle: First time _my insurance allocated the issue to A lings. Sent an young man, we both know need to change the prv costs around 20-30gbp. But he just used pump and re-pressured and said next time someone will come and fix after a week. Second time_ I called my insurance AA again sent to A lings, admin called and said some will come and she said this time he will come with prv and change and he (Different person) came around 5:30pm. Checked around and went out and said prv to be changed went to Van to get the part came back after 10 minutes and said he haven't got the part and needs to order and went away. Third time_After 2days they called me and said some is coming to change the part. Finally came a lovely and very polite man Danny. I should have asked his ID. But a very nice human being went through the system and said prv is gone and to be replaced. He took a good care and did his level best. For sure he is technically good. The reason of writing this review is Danny. I said A lings got a bad reputation by not doing insurance jobs and asking privately to do. I got the same experience from A lings regarding another job plumbing. He said the management changed the team and he tried his level best to protect the company's reputation Finally, A lings has to deliver the job right first time mainly the insurance company contracts before they will be black listed or not getting contracts As the people like we pay insurance premiums and they should support and do the job. Danny if it is for you I will give you 5stars. You are the reason Hope 2026 will be a good one for all of us. .
I had a water leak under my sink and AXA appointed A1 Link to inspect it. The engineer came, looked at the issue, and said he needed to make a call. He later returned and told me the repair was not covered and that I should contact my insurance. He then suggested that A1 Link could fix the problem privately if I paid them directly. I contacted AXA afterward and was clearly told that the repair is covered, and AXA arranged another Good and Reliable company to do the work. Basically wasted my day, took a time off from work and lost money for that day. Be careful using this company as they will waste people's time for no reason. I have also made an official complain to AXA to remove them from their list.
Lee was fantastic. Appreciated the call in advance to tell me when he would be arriving. He was incredibly friendly and very reassuring after having a previous bad experience with another supplier. Fantastic service.
Lee was incredibly helpful in investigating the issue we were having with our boiler/hive system and thoroughly explained it all. He also empowered us with the information to identify future issues and gave great advice. Thanks Lee!
Lee was a great help with getting my heating fixed. He's very knowledgeable and professional and I would highly recommend him to others. Thanks Lee
First time working with these guys.... All ... Yes all.... Staff very professional and positive... Good comms and exchange...a very pleasant change from what I have experienced in London before. Keep going guys it has to be the best way to work.
Avoid this company at all costs. If your insurance company recommends them, do yourself a favour and politely decline. My insurer initially appointed them to repair a simple leak — a small issue where the kitchen waste connects to the vertical stack. Their engineer, Louis, turned up (without offering to remove his shoes before walking through the house, which wasn’t ideal) and immediately proposed an absurdly over-the-top fix. Because our waste stack is copper, his “solution” was to cut out an entire section of pipe and weld in a new one — a hugely invasive and costly job that would have required disturbing the shared stack with our neighbours above and below. Completely unnecessary for what was, in reality, a straightforward repair. Sensing this wasn’t right, I asked my insurance company to cancel the appointment and arranged my own plumber instead. He completed the work properly within two hours using an improved mechanical boss — a simple, effective solution — for around £200, compared to what could easily have run into thousands. It’s clear this company either lacks practical problem-solving skills or is far too eager to overcomplicate jobs. Either way, I wouldn’t trust them with even the simplest repair.
Used A Lings Group to replace a leaking waste pipe. Louie and his colleague attended. Very impressed in the manner they conducted their work. They even cleaned the water spillage stains on my neighbour's window. Thank you also to Chloe and Emma on the Admin Team.
Thought I’d pop on to sing the praises of Kai, only to find he has a fan base here already. One more won’t hurt.. what a terrific guy. It was a level of service I have never encountered. I was his last job, he sorted the problem, but just as he was leaving ,he noticed something, so there he went, unpacked all his stuff and got back to work again. This was way after hours and was a routine repair appointment not a call out. A lesser man would have tuned a blind eye to that and been on his way. He was not leaving til he could be sure he had done everything he could through his technical ability but also how he was so personable in his approach and care to reassure me. You seldom meet a Kai, I’m beyond grateful. A. Lings you’ve struck gold.
Lee - Simply Amazing! No wonder, he's been getting 5* reviews from every job. He's very professional. Job done super quick, Simple explanation when asked a question, no jargon, no technical terms. Just Awesome and very helpful. Had never heard of the company A-Lings but after my experience with Lee, will recommend Lee and the company happily to friends and family.
Service done by lee was fine
Kai who fixed the pipe in our toilet Wes very kind and polite. Very helpful
Lee was amazing and explained everything really well. Would defo recommend this company.
Kept 5 days without heating via these insurance company subcontractors!
[Edited with response to Owner] A Lings charged my 85-year-old disabled mother a full hour's labour (£100) for a literal 3-minute boiler repair. This is in spite of the fact that A Lings was already doing additional work on the boiler on the same day. The same engineer, the same boiler, the same time yet they refused to consider combining the labour for both jobs because one was insurance and the other was privately scheduled. After several phone calls and emails, A Lings reluctantly offered my mother a 10% discount, refusing to even consider a higher rate because "they are a business". Depressing business model. [Final Response to owner below: My complaint doesn't raise any issue with the quality of the work because that is not the concern and I am not a dishonest person. I take exception to my elderly mother being charged £100 labour charge for a 3 minute, add-on job when your engineer was already in situ completing another job, partially covered by our insurance company. Nothing in your response addresses this point. At no point did I suggest that you should bill your additional labour cost to the insurer as you insinuate. Furthermore the insurance did not cover the full amount of the first job and my mother was paying an overpayment on that. So your claim of potential insurance fraud is totally disingenuous. What I wanted, was for you to consider that as your engineer was already in-situ, could you reduce the £100 labour charge for what transpired to be 3 minutes work. After several emails and calls, I reluctantly agreed to the "goodwill" offer of a 10% discount because my counter offer during the final call was not accepted. Morally though, I am annoyed hence the review. I had initially increased the rating to two stars at you request, because of your engineer's professionalism and personability. However, the outcome of this particular situation, given the circumstances and your internal processes, does not warrant a better rating in my opinion. On further reflection and re-reading your response and discussion with my family - your refusal to acknowledge the main issue, the tone, distractions and insinuations of insurance fraud - lead me to go with my original assessment of one star - as I believe companies show their true colours in their after-sales service ]
A Lings are subcontractors of our insurance company, their engineers came to fix our living room radiator which wasn't heating up properly, they recommended a power flush for which we paid over a thousand pounds but not just it didn't fix our radiator but actually created more problems like a leaky radiator valve and especially one of our other radiators which was perfectly working before stopped working immediately after they did the power flush so probably they were using substandard chemicals etc, and then they had the audacity to ask us to pay them more to fix the problem created by 'them', but our insurance company agreed with us and agreed to pay them on our behalf; nearly six weeks now and still the problem with our radiators remains unresolved and actually created more problems which we didn't have before. Does it sound like a money making scam to keep creating more problems and then keep piling the bill on the customers? Probably 'yes'!!
The intention was to install an electrical shower A Lings sent a plumber. The plumber does not do electrics. So the sum total is I'm without a working shower awaiting for an electrician!: crossed communication " wires" and zero results. Four hours of wasted time. I am having to chase my insurance company to seek resolve A LIngs should have sent an ELECTRICIAN. There we are lost productive, unfinished job and a dissatisfied customer. Just appalling. A LIngs did not intervene to correct the situation
A Lings Group were instructed by my home emergency insurers to attend to a blocked toilet. This was reported at 20:00 last night. I was given a window by a lady from A Lings of between 10 am and 4 pm today. Fair enough. I received a text message stating that the plumber was on their way. By 17.30 no one had arrived so I thought it an idea to contact A Lings. Office of course was closed and no re-direct to an out of hours service. Accordingly I telephoned my insurers who duly phoned the engineer only to be told that he had attempted to attend my property but could find the two houses next to mine but not my actual house. He attempted to call me but could not get through. He then left (without I add, advising anyone as far as I can ascertain), thus leaving the emergency claim in limbo. My phone did not have any missed calls or voicemails. I have been taking calls on my mobile phone all day and an alternative landline number was provided. Takeaways from this: 1. Usually when you can find the houses numbered each side of the number you are looking for, it is highly likely to be in that vicinity, indeed probably next to or opposite. It is unlikely to be elsewhere. 2. If you can't get through to someone, perhaps because the signal is poor, go to an area where the signal is better and try the numbers you were given. 3. Don't leave the matter in limbo so a household with primary school aged children are without a correctly flushing toilet for (as I write this) 22 hours and likely to be far longer. This is an appalling service and smacks of a 'can't be bothered' attitude. I doubt there will be any response to this by A Lings, nor any apology.
I recently had an unfortunate encounter with A Ling's services, particularly with their representative. My experience with them during an insurance call left me deeply dissatisfied. Initially, it seemed like the company was genuinely interested in helping resolve my issue. However, it became evident that their approach was more focused on extracting extra money rather than providing genuine assistance. A Ling played the non-compliance card, resulting in the gas being shut off in my property. Subsequently, they insisted on remedial work without initially disclosing the full extent of the repairs required. To make matters worse, after I carried out the recommended remedial work and arranged a second visit, the technicians claimed that additional repairs were needed before they could address the boiler issue – information conveniently omitted in their earlier report. Consequently, I've been without heating and hot water for nine days during this cold weather. When I raised concerns about the inconsistencies in their reports and questioned why the initial engineer had promised to fix the issue on his next visit, the response was both unprofessional and dismissive. The company deemed me rude and, shockingly, refused to come back and rectify the problem that they themselves created. Overall, my experience with A Ling has been extremely frustrating. Their lack of transparency, incompetent service, and zero customer care have left me without a resolution and feeling taken advantage of. It's disheartening to see a company prioritize making money over genuinely helping customers in times of need. I strongly advise caution when considering A Ling's services, as my experience has been a stark reminder that not all companies prioritize customer satisfaction and honesty. I would give in minus, if I could .... Irresponsible management.
This company do not know what an emergency is. I have reported a boiler break down for no heating and hot water and it has been 5 days and it is still not fixed. They tell you all the lies under the sun and now keeps me waiting for another three days with no hot water and heating in this cold weather when my family is ill and this is not helping the situation. I am utterly disgusted of their service and lack of empathy.
On 16/05/23 I called my home emergency CET who works on behalf of LV insurance to fix a leaking radiator tap. The trade company A staff called Abbie from A. Lings called me and said the plumber cannot come to fix the leaking radiator because she was demanding that I pay for parking. I told her I have never paid for parking since 2021. I asked to speak to her manager but she said the manager was not available. She said she will contact the home emergency about me paying for the parking. She called me again stating that home emergency will pay for the parking. The engineer came and fix the leaking radiator tap. The next day the tap was leaking again. I called the home emergency again and was told that their manager paid for the parking but if the plumber returned I would have to pay for the parking. The issue of the customer paying for parking was now under consideration so i contacted the LV insurance who investigated and said I should not have to pay for parking. The advisor arranged an appointment for me. On 19/05/23 A.Lings came and tightened the radiator pipe. I am appalled that I received such poor level of customer service from A.Lings. I did asked home emergency to send another customer but I was told that A. Lings was the only company in my area.
My home insurance appointed this company to do a boiler repair in my flat. First man was lovely and punctual, however the boiler broke again the same evening suggesting he didn’t do a proper check of what was wrong. After this, a new man was appointed to fix the repair. This man arrived days later, was incredibly rude as soon as he turned up, and left without saying anything as I was on the phone to my insurance after he specifically asked me to call them, and then refusing to return. Since then I’ve had promises they were going to call, without them doing so. I was then told they would arrive today to do the repair, leaving me to wait a whole day at home waiting for them, without anyone turning up. Do not employ this company to do your repair, as they don’t do the job properly and are very unreliable.
