Adam was super helpful for doing our Help to Buy Valuation - really appreciate it Adam!

Extremely poor service provided by ADAM MAZALLA-TOMLINSON from Templar Consultants surveyors. How would you class a property valuation service provided by a person registered with the royal institute of chartered surveyors when he actually provided a valuation for our property which was at least 10% lower than the valuation of other surveyors we used at the same time (in our case this was a difference of £20,000-£25,000)?! When you ask him to provide you a copy of the valuation report, you always have to chase him and remind him as apparently our emails were always going into his junk inbox, and if you do not chase him, you will never ever get an answer in a written format from him. He would prefer to speak to you over the phone, but then you will never be able to chase him and ask him to deliver on his promises, as he is promising you one thing over the phone, but then the delivery of his promises will never come (our advice is to ask him to write to you and confirm all his promises and services in writing and not over the phone). Our mistake was that we paid him upfront the whole amount for his services to his individual bank account (by the way he is twice more expensive that the services of any other competitors on the market)! After raising our concerns about the low market value he provided for our property, he promised he will email us an updated valuation report and after sending numerous emails to him, he never sent us an updated valuation report! Very poor service and very unprofessional to treat customers like this. He promises one thing and never delivers. Also how come emails from customers are ending in his junk inbox all the time! Very bad excuse not to reply to customers’ emails. We are very disappointed and would not recommend this person or company to anyone looking for a property surveyor! Finally, be prepared for this surveyor to use a comparative method for your property valuation, which method is more subjective rather than objective, as he is used to pick up the cheapest properties in your area when he calculates the valuation of your property, but somehow is very reluctant to use some of the other properties (which are also similar, if not the same, to yours in size, year of built, years of lease left, number of bedrooms/ bathrooms, etc.) which are more expensive. In other words, he will provide you with the lowest possible valuation for your property only because he will pick up the lowest priced properties in your area in his comparative method of calculating property valuation. And if you challenge him on this, you will get nowhere - you will never receive a clear, justified explanation from him in a written format. Thank you for reading this review from someone who used the services of ADAM MAZALLA-TOMLINSON from Templar Consultants, and who is not afraid to share their disappointing experience, in order to prevent others going through the same stress at a time which can be life changing for your family (selling your home). If you however used this person/ company for your property valuation already, our recommendation is to use another company to check how realistic their valuation is, and do not be surprised if you find out that the other surveying company values your property at a higher price – which would be the real, correct market value for your property!
