I hired Ennis electrical to complete an EICR electrical certificate for a rental property. Initially communication was good, I have spoken with James throughout, who insisted on full payment upfront before the job could be booked in….looking at the positive reviews on here I was happy to proceed. The day came and I checked in to morning to ensure they were still planning to attend.James confirmed they would be there between 3-5pm. At 4.45pm I was sent a text saying they were held up on a previous job and would not be attending… Rebooked the job for the week after, the inspection was carried out with a consumer unit change required. James was very prompt in answering the phone at this point so I booked in the consumer unit change. Again full payment was required upfront. James stated all works under £1500 need full upfront payment before a booking can be made. Full payment was made £465 but I requested an invoice as I had received nothing at all from him so far. The day of the consumer unit change and again checked in the morning to ensure he was going to attend…was told by James they would be there that afternoon. No one showed so I called James and was told “his van key had broken so he would not be attending” rebooked it for the next week…again checked with James to confirm attendance….I was told “yes no problem they will be there”…again no one showed the tenant had to chase James who then said his electrician had “an emergency” and would not be attending. At this point I wanted my money back…James assured me he would personally change the consumer unit the next week….at this point I still had not received an invoice but despite handing well over £500 in total. Consumer unit was changed see pic below… James informed me after he had left that he didn’t fill the holes from the old consumer unit. I have had to request an invoice at least 10 times over a three week period until I received one. I’m now chasing the EICR certificate I’ve chased it 5 times and despite being promised 3 times by James I still have not been sent the EICR certificate…. In all it’s been over a month since this all began.

Great service! He was polite, quick, and really knew his stuff. Everything was done efficiently, and he took the time to explain things clearly. Very respectful and easy to deal with—would definitely recommend.

James was brilliant from start to finish. We lost power across our house on a Saturday and had an urgent call out, James was here within the hour. He diagnosed the issue (what we suspected) explained the reasoning and was prompt to help us have electricity up and running again. Very polite, kind and professional. Would 100% recommend him.

Avoid, unprofessional and unreliable. Carried out EICR inspection but did not receive anything. - James asked for full payment up front (£135) via bank transfer. Agreed on half payment before and remainder on completion - Scheduled 8am, he arrived around 6pm-7pm. - Odd interactions during assessment, came across sketchy - He tried to upsell fuse block upgrades as a requirement to meet current regulations, when this is not obligatory only advisory. This would’ve been an additional ~£300. The current fuse box and blocks are sufficient. - Was told report would be ready same day - Asked for invoice to complete payment, did not receive and chased for 2 days after - Disregard for my time and my constant requests to receive invoice and complete payment - He repeated several times he would send the invoice over without doing so. He was more concerned with completing payment. - Trust lost, informed him I would not pay remainder until report received first or I make a credit card payment for buyer protection. Refused both - He asked me to go with someone else. Agreed that we part ways and not continue. Lost my half payment of £67.50. UPDATE: James reached out and refunded the initial half payment, which was fair of him and appreciated. It’s a shame the interaction was soured by the issues described. I’d preferred things to play out differently and save a lot bother.

I contact this company to get an EICR done and he was very late and didn’t adhere to the times specified. He also took full payment for the report before doing the job, even though his initial email stated part payment. He made me feel very uncomfortable in my home and was asking irrelevant questions. He is an electrician but asking about gas meters. Which trade are you. I definitely wouldn’t recommend especially a single person. I couldn’t wait for him to leave my property. Whether it passes or fails you do not come into someone’s private space and ask irrelevant questions. You were not professional and didn’t stick to the times agreed

Beware! beware!! beware!!! This company is a fraud. Contracted them to do an landlord electric check but nothing was done. For about 5mins the electrician stayed in the house he never opened his tool box, not one socket was tested. Then he pasted his sticker that the test was failed without any explanation. He did not provide any id that he’s certified. When we challenged him he called James who was very unprofessional, arrogant and rude. Just interested in the money. Called us three times same day to make the payment to endure the work will be done not knowing it’s all a scam. Pay no mind to all the glowing reviews, might be bogus. It sure fooled me. Shame on you.
