I run a busy coffee shop in London and needed a new central heating boiler installed. I used AI to help find a reliable contractor, but found many advertised firms were not who they claimed to be—some had even been struck off. Cruikshanks stood out as a genuine, established company with proper accounts and a long trading history. I contacted them for a quote and John Cruikshank came personally. He arrived promptly, gave solid professional advice, and quoted a fair price. I accepted. John and his team turned up early on the day, worked efficiently, and completed the job with minimal disruption. The installation was excellent. John is a consummate professional and also a genuinely decent bloke. Highly recommended.

John installed a air-source heat pump for us, replacing an ageing gas boiler. We couldn't be more pleased. John started by carefully designing the requirements for this retro-fit project. Drawing on his extensive knowledge as a "heatgeek", but also on a healthy dose of common sense, John built us a system that is simple, reliable and extremely efficient. And he did all this with minimal disruption in our house. We now have comfortable, even heat throughout the house. And, most importantly, the system is so far about 450% efficient, which is an outstanding value for an air-source heat pump. This was achieved because John decided early on to aim for low flow temperature and open loop system. The project came in at the price quoted -- and cheaper than other quotes I had seen. I highly recommend asking John when you are considering upgrading your house with a heat pump.

If your boiler breaks, John is your guy. He came highly recommended on our school group and he was excellent. Responsive, and very knowledgeable about the boiler and repair needed. Clear (and reasonable) on pricing too. He’s highly in demand as he’s a pro (a needle in a haystack to find in London!).

Best service my boiler has ever had

I've had a tricky job to fix a escape of water and rerouting multiple pipes including gas which were done incorrectly before. John attended for a free quotation. I was impressed that he could decide on the solution in a few minutes of looking at it which is the evidence of years of experience. He carried out his work for half a day and left with a great work done. He is polite and friendly. Highly recommended.

I was very impressed with with the service provided. I required the disconnection of an obsolete power shower and installation of a thermostatic surface mounted mini shower. I received a quotation for the work quickly after contacting John and this was undertaken shortly after. The removal of the old shower threw up some problems and I was kept informed regarding the necessary work. Despite the problems the work was completed in one morning at the quoted price. The work area was well protected at all times. I will use John's services in the future and have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

Had a leaky faucet issue in the laundry room. Steve came out. We thought we'd go with at new box but after a look we realized the way the previous box had been installed, it would take a lot more work than was anticipated. No problem, Steve used the old box set up, welded me in a couple of new pipe sections and mounted new faucets. No leaks, looks great, and he left the place as clean as it was when he arrived. I would DEFINITELY use Cruickshank's again.

My tenant reported the carbon monoxide alarm was going off ,so I called John and told him if he could go and sort out the problem ,which he did by cutting off all the gas to the property. This left the tenant with no heating, no hot water and no gas hob to cook on .When I called John to complain that the tenant had no way to cook her food he stated she could always go to deliveroo or buy a pizza to put in the oven. When I asked him why did he not check the carbon monoxide emmisions he said he did not have time as he wanted to get home for tea, and he was too busy with other work to sort it out. The next day I called out an emergency gas fitter who turned the gas on after checking the carbon monoxide emmisions which read nil and checked the alarm which was faulty so was destroyed. John appeared to be a genuine man but not a very proffeshional approach to an easy solution for my tenant.

Thank you John for providing excellent service! We didn't have heating for about 40 days during January-February, and our property manager wasn't really responsive. When we finally met with John, he managed our issue within couple of days. He sorted out the communication between our manager and us, he updated us several times on progression of our solution, and he fixed our issue with expertise and intelligence. On top of that John was really friendly, considerate and cool!

When we were told by another company our boiler was unsafe we came across Cruickshank's. John came round to take a look and came back with a couple of options for us. We also had a leak under the sink with water all over the floor!! John sorted that out for us too and even got a hinge to fix the wonky cupboard :-) We can't rate them high enough and will most definitely use again.
