I got Harvey Electrical in when the person who was originally supposed to carry out the work decided they could earn more by taking on other jobs. The work was an upgrade to my existing solar system, with some of the work being carried out by me. There were a couple of reasons for this. The system uses Victron equipment, and the installation also required some very specific elements that needed to integrate with my own AI-controlled system. I would also be removing the existing equipment before Harvey Electrical arrived to carry out their part of the installation. The work was split into several stages. My existing 10-panel system on the roof needed changing from 10 panels in parallel to 2 strings of 5 panels, with two sets of DC cables brought down from the roof to my outbuilding. A new set of wiring was also required from the main house, along with the necessary fuses and connections, ready for me to install my Victron equipment. Harvey Electrical also fitted a new light in the outbuilding and, at my request, removed the old wiring associated with the previous equipment and properly deactivated it. This was important to me because I wanted the redundant wiring and equipment made safe rather than simply being left in place. This was all agreed on the basis that Harvey Electrical had not previously worked with Victron equipment and that the Victron side of the installation would be completed by me. Their responsibility was to carry out their part of the installation to MCS standards and within the relevant electrical and regulatory requirements. The electricians were friendly, competent, understanding and easy to work with. They were also happy to accommodate the fact that this was not a standard installation and that I was carrying out part of the work myself. One thing that particularly stood out to me happened on the first day. The young lad who came out to do the basic work ended up helping me lift an 80+ kg Victron MultiPlus-II 15,000VA onto the wall. That is not an easy bit of kit to move, let alone get mounted safely, and he absolutely did not have to help me with it. He could quite easily have left me to deal with it myself, but he stepped in and helped me off his own back. That sort of attitude says a lot about someone. There were a couple of things that weren't completed due to misunderstandings about what had been agreed. However, these were not faults on Harvey Electrical's part, and I was able to resolve and complete those items myself. Overall, I was very pleased with Harvey Electrical. They were professional, friendly, competent and, importantly, they understood that this was a slightly unusual installation and worked with me rather than making the job more difficult. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Harvey Electrical. They did what they agreed to do, worked to the required standards, made the redundant electrical work safe as requested, and were helpful throughout. They also went beyond what I expected in places. Finding a company that is both competent and genuinely helpful is becoming increasingly difficult, so when you find one, it is worth saying so. Harvey Electrical have earned my recommendation. The photo accompanying this review doesn't show everything Harvey Electrical carried out. It is simply a snapshot of some of the equipment and installation work they completed, and doesn't fully represent the amount of work involved in the overall job.

David did a great job which technically was "a bit of a bugger". Had three other electrical companies look at the job but couldn't/wouldn't do it. Full marks to David and Harvey's

David was absolutely excellent - fixed our socket behind the oven but not only replaced it but also moved it to ensure the oven would fit snugly in its space, then corrected a spur that was left hanging out of the wall by the appliance installer and also fixed an unbalanced neutral wire that was poorly installed by the people who did the rewiring badly on the house we bought 3 months ago. All round pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

So today Liam from the company fitted my ev charger and it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. Everything from the consultation with Craig to the fitting with very professional. After calling around 10 different installers with little to no reply I'm so glad I went with Harvey Electrical. They were also the most competitive price. 10 stars!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I honestly can’t recommend Harvey Electrical Services highly enough. From my very first phone call, I felt I was in good hands. The lady I spoke to understood exactly what I needed and suggested a sensible way of getting everything inspected without making the whole process stressful or overwhelming. An appointment was arranged within just a few days, and I was advised the EICR would take around two hours – which was spot on. The two electricians who attended were friendly, polite and professional throughout. They were happy to answer questions and make suggestions, but there was absolutely no pressure or hard sell, which I really appreciated. Having strangers in your home for a couple of hours isn’t always something you look forward to, but they immediately put me at ease and were genuinely lovely to deal with. The service afterwards was just as impressive. The inspection took place on a Friday afternoon and I had the full report by lunchtime on Monday. I then needed some additional supporting information for an insurance claim and the team came back with exactly what I needed, quickly and without any fuss. Every member of staff I spoke to was friendly, helpful and professional. I now have a full quotation for the recommended works and the pricing seems very fair and reasonable. Very disappointed in every aspect of this job & wouldn’t use Harvey Electrical again. What was booked in as a “1.5 day job”, turned into 2 months of frustration, going around in circles, wrong materials being ordered/delivered, mis-measured & poor workmanship in several areas (gaps at every single join & installers actually snapping & bodging strip lights back together). Used my tools & materials & required my help to finish the job that was already 58 days over what we agreed. Communication was terrible & guys didn’t turn up on at least 3 occasions when assured they would. Lessons learnt!

Contacted Harvey Electricals when the power went out in parts of the house on a Saturday evening and wasn't a straightforward trip switch reset. I run a B&B so I was flapping about as I had paying guests in. Though another electrician attended the job on the evening, Karl was great in talking me through what it may be and getting me to check certain things to avoid potentially expensive call out charges. This was reassuring as I knew he would get someone on the job if my local electrician couldn't come.

I called them, he asked for a few pics on WhatsApp and gave advice over the phone, as a result, the fault was identified and rectified without a call out. Brilliant from start to finish. My initial contact seeking a quote was managed very well. I was asked to supply some photos and with these a quote was offered. This saved delays and was appreciated. All communication was timely and effective. I was kept aware of plans and progress. The installers were fantastic. Competent, efficient, polite and pleasant. They were always mindful of the site and were particularly tidy, keeping things cleaner than any tradie I have ever encountered. I give this company my highest recommendation.

My most recent experience has been awful. I contracted Harvey Electrical Services to install a roof solar panel and battery system. Here are some of the things which Harvey did badly: 1 By installation start date Harvey had not secured all the equipment necessary, and there was then needless fuss over a revised installation date. 2 Harvey, the 'professional' firm, overestimated how many panels would fit on the roof, and consequently over-ordered. In contrast, my amateur estimate was exactly accurate. 3 Harvey mislaid the project specification which had been detailed in writing and conversation. The consequence was that the lithium battery was installed within the house rather than, as required, within an outhouse. The client's safer outhouse requirement was only later achieved: Harvey had to return to the house to undo some of its work and place the battery within the outhouse. 4 A key member of the Harvey installation team proved difficult, and I decided to ban him from the house. 5 Harvey delayed two months in sending to me the network approval letter (the 'G98') required for the export of electricity to the national grid. The letter was issued to Harvey in August. Only after my alerts did Harvey forward the letter to me in November. My two experiences of Harvey Electrical Services are that this is a firm which thinks itself, and wishes itself, highly competent. However, it falls far short of its ambition and self-image.

Absolutely brilliant service from Harveys. A couple of circuits blew taking out lights and appliances. We couldn't work out what to do having tried all the normal things. Got straight through to the emergency line and the engineer talked us through the probable issue to prevent us having to pay for an emergency call out. He waited patiently on the line whilst we worked it through and it resolved the issue. Can't speak highly enough of the support we had and I would definitely use Harveys again - this time as a paying customer!

David Bell has been a pleasure to work with, his skills and knowledge had been a great asset to the project in hand, nothing was a problem!

If I could give Harveys 100 stars I would! Having bought an older property that had not been looked after for many years, I knew there would be issues that needed addressing. From the initial safety check visit which identified a very dangerous problem, a further callout when a second problem was discovered right through to a full rewire Brad, Chris, Carl, Paul, Liam and Orb have been incredible. The team at the office has also been excellent. All the work has been precise and very thoughtfully carried out. Communication has been constant, and every detail checked and rechecked to make sure it is exactly right. The team has kept the site clean despite the huge amount of mess from cutting through walls and ceilings. I am beyond impressed and will be using them for any further electrical work in the future.

My letting agents arranged for Harvey's to complete some work at my home. They contacted me promptly to arrange a convenient time and David was fantastic. The work was carried out efficiently and to a high standard and now everything is working perfectly. David was polite and courteous. Thanks so much.

Had a problem, I telephoned for help, they came and sorted it within an hour, can't recommend them highly enough.

We had tried to have a cooker installed however the delivery team told us our system was reading too high a wattage for the new cooker and our system type wasn’t appropriate. We were told to get an electrician in to test our system. We thought that getting an electrician in would take days however we were pleasantly surprised when Harvey electrical had someone arrive on the same day and within an hour of the phone call. Within a few minutes of arriving he found that the delivery team had incorrectly done their tests and given us a false report. It was also mentioned that they shouldn’t have even done their tests in the first place as they aren’t trained to. Just in case the electrician provided by Harvey electrical tested everything and told us that everything was set for the new cooker and if there was any issues again with the delivery team, we could give him a ring direct so that we had a trained professional in our corner. Highly recommend Harvey Electrical to anyone who needs help urgently. All costs are described beforehand as well so we knew exactly what we would be paying. Very affordable. My house alarm had been triggered by the power being tripped in my house. My house alarm has been in since I bought the house years ago and has never been operational, so I couldn't deactivate it as the control pads are not active. Called Harvey's and got through to a guy called Chris, who managed to assist me over the phone with it being a Sunday, thus avoiding the weekend callout charge. Helped me locate and remove the fuse from the alarm via video call. Very open and honest about the call out charge and incredibly helpful to assist via a video call without asking for any fee. Absolute life saver as the alarm was driving us and the street mad! Thanks Chris!

On Saturday 10th Dec my 88 yr old mum contacted me saying her electric had gone off. Having used Harvey electrics for work before at my premises and being very happy with the work I contacted them for help as looking at the electric board/cupboard at my mums I was struggling to see what had happened. Well if there was a 4 th emergency service around this firm has to be it. They bent over backwards to get help as quick as possible . I was constantly updated and even had Karl texting me from France! The electric is back on and I can’t say enough about everyone involved in what was a major drama for an 88yr old women. Our downstairs electrical sockets stopped working. Having two young kids at tea time on a Sunday, this was a disaster. Phoned Harvey’s, very professional on the phone and was able to talk me through fixing the problem to save on a call out fee. Would highly recommend.

Brandon came to my pqrent's house to install a new LED light in the kitchen following a leak which had damaged their previous fixture. The light was installed within 10 minutes and is just what we needed. Lovely young man and the family have said they would definitely be using Harvey's again for any future needs. Well done!

Someone came out today to fix a problem with the earthing in a few of my sockets which was missing, after 2 electricians were unable to find the fault. At first there was much hope, then not, but after some time the guy managed to find the fault and resolved the issue which we were both so relieved as I was close to giving up! All sockets are now working how they should. Before leaving he tested every socket in the house and found a dead socket and managed to resolve the issue there too, whilst also fixing another electricians work. Although knowing the previous work done is not great news, I'm glad I'm now aware of it because of him. He gave me some good advice and he left ensuring everything was resolved. I didn't get his name unfortunately but I'm sure they will know. Amazing service, very polite and professional and will 100% use again when I need them.

Got home at 7pm to find fuse box had tripped, no power, and could not be re-set. Rang Harveys and Carl offered to come out there and then for £125 an hour plus vat, or talk me through trying to get some power back on and come out in the morning for £65 an hour plus vat. Obviously I chose the latter and he talked me through what to do and I got some power back. Jack turned up promptly next morning and fixed the faulty socket in 15 mins, job done. Unlike other firms who would have just offered to come out for the higher price, this saved quite a lot of money. Hopefully no more emergencies, but would not hesitate to use again if there was.

This company was brilliant promised to have someone round asap then got us to perform an easy fix which worked. Couldn't ask for better service

We used Harveys to repair a Pulsa Coil boiler. The staff were very professional and courteous. A full explanation was given as to what was required along with a quote for the works in a prompt manner.

The work was generally completed to a satisfactory standard however I was charged for 3 elements which weren’t completed and also charged to fix an element which broke a week after it was fitted. Finally have a resolution to issues now that the owner of the company got involved. Swift resolution following this. It shouldn’t have taken this to get to a satisfactory outcome.

Very good customer service and lovely staff. I had an external security light removed and an internal light fixture replaced and relocated. From the initial phone call to them the visit to scope and price the job was completed in the first week, the actual work was completed in the second week. The price was very reasonable and I was very happy with the end result, I will definitely use them again.

I bought a chandelier on line for several grand. Many electricians refused to fit this on account of its 28kg weight. Harvey’s were straight onto it. Unfortunately I wasn’t there on day 1 and as a result, the finish wasn’t what I wanted as there were two ways to hang the light. No problem.. Carl was completely supportive and sent his troops back the following day. They spent several hours doing the whole job again; despite looking dispirited, they couldn’t have been more kind. We asked Karl to quote for some work we needed in our house. Karl suggested a time, arrived on time and gave us the quote then and there. When we agreed the go ahead, Karl offered a choice of dates. Karl and his team of Electricians have undertaken many tasks at Business Central .The work was carried out to suit our needs and budget. Also the staff were helpful and reliable

All our properties needed electrical installation certificates because of new legislation and Harveys have been completing these for the past few months for us and replacing equipment that was damaged or not safe to a high standard. One block of 21 apartments all the underfloor heating had failed in most of them and we we were getting a lot of complaints from occupiers so Karl advised of new energy saving electric heaters which we have now had installed much to everyone's satisfaction, especially as this has been a very cold winter.

Our Scout Hut has been going through a bit of a revamp recently and these guys have come in and completely rewired the Hut including down to replacing the fuse box. We couldn't fault their service and their support throughout the whole process, especially during these difficult times. They have done an amazing job and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Karl, Chris and your whole team for making our Scout Hut that much better for our Scouts.

I have used Harvey Electrical for many years and has done loads of work for me, they are always professional and efficient, I would readily recommend them to anyone.

Although they responded quickly and fixed the issue they then billed me twice for the same work . They said it was an error with their IT but then said they had sent me someone else's bill by mistake !! Demanded to be paid twice . Then decided to try and charge me for a free estimate agreed with the electrical engineer who did the call out initially This electrical engineer pointed out some work I should consider and would I like a free no obligation estimate .I said yes and he agreed to come out today and said if you are happy with. It discuss dates In January . He came out did the estimate and said they would contact me Despite no fee EVER being mentioned they tried to bill me . They even tried to say they would listen to the telephone call to organise the estimate but clearly don't what they are doing as there was never any telephone contact . Poor company and really try ripping customers off The reply from Harvey's just highlights the extremely poor customer service . They sent me someone else's bill which in itself is a breach of data protection (GDPR) At that time my son has come out of hospital having had open heart surgery and I was cautious about visitors and told them this in a message So I was not expecting to scrutinise a bill when it came and paid the invoice within a couple of hours of receipt I am not an electrician and didnt get a breakdown of cost at the time it was done and paid the bill Their attitude was sarcastic at the time and this reply simply reinforces that sarcastic tone. It was not a fraction of the cost at all it was around £55 less and after actually getting 3 estimates for further work their prices are a total RIP off anyway .their estimate was double what other equally qualified electricians have quoted As for saying I was told it was a ECIR quote this is a complete lie Firstly they tried to say I was told by phone on 4/12 and they listened to the call and when I said no call took place it was a discussion following a call out which took place in my hallway suddenly their story changes I repeat that noone told me there was a charge it was an offer to do an estimate for work and the engineer said in the hallway it will be about £1000 for the work . By the time these chancers had added £55 for a new smoke alarm the fire brigade are fitting for free and monies to deal with an immersion heater I no longer have plus other things added that were not necessary they managed to bump the bill up to line thelr pockets They say the engineer was here for hours when it was 55 minutes and like to exaggerate like the fraction of the cost comment Finally they rang me trying to find a way to change my review and I was clear that their poor attitude and incompetence stood and I could not put someone else through the deceitful comments and accusations Given that they are still trying to lay their incompetence at my door I am contacting ICO to report my data being compromised Please steer clear of this company and get estimates and only get work done that needs doing Sue

Highly recommend this company. Had two bad experiences and had had work done that wasn't needed and was then told I needed a total rewire. It was for a rental property miles away. They were prompt, rectified the incorrect work and identified the problem promptly, on time and with no fuss. As a woman too, I felt taken advantage of previously, but Karl Harvey and his team were true saviours.

Having been let down massively by another electrician during a stressful house move I was delighted with the service Harvey Electrical provided.
