Just had a guy from Bar here for 4 days damp proofing and plastering. He was so polite, worked through every day without stopping for a lunch break, and made sure everything was clean and tidy when he left for the day. On his last day, he mopped right through, making sure we were satisfied with his work and checking he'd put everywhere back as he'd found it. LEON is a credit to this firm and they are very lucky to have such a dedicated member of staff. Well done Leon and thank you

The buyer of my home had a survey completed which was full of inaccuracies and the surveyors beliefs and not facts. Surveyor Lee from BAR came to inspect some damp and had a quick look at the bulging bricks the previous surveyor had noted and who advised the buyer that it was “roof spread” causing complete panic and unnecessary stress. Lee knew straight away it was not roof spread, as an experienced surveyor he knew it was due to the front of house being rebuilt at some point. His expertise gave me a sense of calm immediately. Due to this professionalism, I then instructed BAR to complete the necessary other works inside my home. I felt I could trust them and I wasn’t wrong. Reece and the apprentice came to carry out damp proofing and build a loft wall. They were really friendly, knowledgable and super tidy. I thought I was going to have to move out for a few days due to all the dust but how they cleared up and even mopped on their way out was impressive. Surveyor Lee helped with the brick work in the loft too and was also a pleasure to have in my home. The team have been efficient, friendly, punctual with excellent communication. I have jobs in the new house I am moving into and I will not go to any other company. Having trust in contractors is a big deal and often isn’t the case, but I cannot fault the Team from the ladies in the office to the tradesmen. Thank you for a great experience.

I had a previous damp proof course from a different company. When the damp problems came back that company had gone out of business. I contacted Bar after being reccomended. I paid extra for a survey and signed on the dotted. 2 years later the damp came back. I wasn't worried as I was given a 10 year guarantee. I couldn't utilise the guarantee as apparently, Bar had worked on two thirds of one wall but the remaining third hadn't shown signs of damp so it was left untreated. I'm no damp specialist but I would think that perhaps the final third may just succumb to damp. I would not reccomend this company.

Tried a few businesses to get a quote on lintel fitting above front window, no answer on phone or call back or reply on email. Phone Bar Preservation answered phone straight away, arranged a surveyor, gave me a quote and date for work to be done in the same week. Work done was excellent. Friendly helpful and cleaned up after job. Would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

House purchase: I was recommended to get a wall tie survey following a level 3 home survey. I contacted a non-accredited company who said every wall would need replacement wall ties (around £4,000!). I contacted BAR Preservation for a survey and they arranged it quickly and produced the report within 2 days after the site visit which stated the wall ties had already been replaced. As they are accredited with the Wall Tie Federation, this report was appropriate to release funds from my lender. I would highly recommend them as a trustworthy company that won't do unnecessary work and has the clients best interest in mind.

I’ve recently needed the services of a damp and timber company. I rang a local company, reasonable survey fee, and waited for their report. Unfortunately the advice and attitude was so awful I decided to pay for another company to undertake another one. The estate agent recommended Bar preservation so I gave them a call. Their survey fee was about £20 higher than the other one but the experience couldn’t have been any different. They were extremely professional, very helpful and knowledgeable, gave clear, downloadable diagrams and guarantees. They turned up when they said they would, their workmen were friendly and courteous, surprisingly clean and again very communicative. I can’t recommend this company highly enough. The work I had done was less expensive than the first company quoted and I trust that they’ve done a good job. 5*

We had lateral restraints inserted in our gable end. Bar were brilliant, gave a reasonable quote and completed the work to the agreed schedule.The workmen were polite and friendly, worked hard and did a good job. They even cleared up after themselves and we were given a ten year guarantee for the work. I would use this firm again and would recommend them to anyone.

I had a damp course done by these and they were honestly amazing. The three guys that carried out the work that I believe were called Kev, Ed and Liam were brilliant. They turned up early everyday and cracked straight on with the work, they were very polite, professionally and friendly and also very respectful in my home. They kept me in the loop the whole time telling what was happening and what they were doing next and left the place very clean and tidy at the end of each day. After having absolute nightmares with tradesmen over the last month or so I was worried about being let down or ripped off again but these guys made the whole process very easy and stress free, highly recommend!!

Very happy with the work done on our home. Initial visit was reassuring, good follow up to my enquiries and when the work began they came with a clear plan, kept us informed all the time and were very professional, friendly, careful to clean up after etc. Great attention to detail.

My building was suffering lack of lateral restraint and cracking on outer wall. The engineer are knowledgeable. Using their professional knowledge and skill to fix my house. Moreover, They help me to remove my stuff under the roof, so it will not become dusty. They are very nice and considering. Highly recommended!

Wow this was one job I was not looking forward to if I am honest. I needed a damp proof (not what you want to spend your money on) but I am glad its done. Literally everyone told me it would be messy! Well I am shocked the work has been carried out to a very high standard and the clean up was very impressive. I was very pleased with the excellent response and customer service from everyone that I dealt with while trying to get a damp survey booked. I did not go by reviews or recommendations but was searching for a local company to carry out a damp survey. It was not easy to gain access to the property I was buying as it was tenanted but bar preservation were patient and kept trying to accommodate a date for the survey to be carried out. I received my report within 24 hours after the survey. Whenever I contacted the team they picked up the phone immediately and addressed my query satisfactorily. Thank you for making the process smooth which would have otherwise been stressful due to no fault of yours or mine!!!

I'd give 6 stars if I could. I needed two walls stitched together at short notice. They quoted immediately and pulled out all of the stops to fit the work in ASAP. The installer they sent was a great guy and the level of care and professionalism he showed was outstanding. As was his work, which is very clean and obviously done with pride. Thanks

The workmen especially Dennis the roofer and Lee and his team conducted themselves in a very professional manner and left our property as they found it! Bar Preservation replaced many of the rotten timbers on my suspended floor. Though the work was complex, I was thoroughly impressed with how the workers handled it. Communication was excellent at all times and the work carried out was fantastic value for money. I must admit at the start of my search it felt like a minefield but Cheri at Bar quickly put my mind at ease with her expert knowledge & advice. She was very accommodating in regards arranging my appointment. On the day of the appointment John came on time and was very professional & efficient. He explained everything in detail and I was delighted with his friendly manner. The report arrived before the estimated time which summed up the whole experience. We asked BAR to look at a damp issue in our front door arch , they sent around a surveyor and gave a report and quote free of charge. Very competitive and they held the quote open for 6months. I booked the work and the Builder Leon turned up on time and completed the work within a few days . No mess very very good finish . I would recommend them for this type of work. Oh also all this professionalism during the current lockdown conditions. A great company. Kev and Zoë Gibson.

Very quick and super service. My Mother’s floor had collapsed in the corner of the room. I rang them and they arranged for someone to come and check it out, she needed, needing new joists in that area and floor boards replacing. They came out on the day and time arranged and did a very good job, leaving everything clean afterwards which I think is also important. I would definitely recommend them and have already done so.

I rarely write reviews but the excellent work Bar Preservation did on our cottage deserves recognition. The basement has been transformed from a dark, damp space into a bright and airy room thanks to the skillful workmanship of their team. The guidance and advice offered by their surveyor (Phil) throughout the project was outstanding; not to mention his extra visits to the cottage to ensure we were totally satisfied with the details of the project. This kind of professional, efficient and friendly company is one we all dream of ... and, yes, they do exist, and Bar Preservation is one of them. Excellent work and customer service at its very best.

I recently purchased my first home and was advised to undertake a number of improvements from the surveyor's report. Two of these were to check the wall ties and get a ground floor wall damp-proofed. Contacted a few companies and chose Bar Preservation on the strength of the reviews from different sources online (as well as a friend of a friend who has used them previously and recommended them). They were fantastic - friendly, professional and quick. Really happy with the work that was undertaken and the service received. Highly recommend them.

I used BAR Preservation for some extensive damp proofing works at a residential development and also small residential works (surveying & installing air bricks). I've found surveying to be accurate, the work completed to be very good and best of all major works are properly guaranteed (for an additional cost). Highly recommended.
