Adam undertook a detailed damp and timber survey of our house to investigate potential issues that were first identified in our Homebuyer’s Level 2 survey. This included looking into the sub-floor, loft space and flying a drone over the roof (among many others). He produced a very helpful report which identified the likely sources of damp and also practical steps we could take to rectify, which allowed us to get accurate third party quotes and negotiate the asking price. We would highly recommend Adam to anyone looking for a top quality damp and timber assessment.

Adam carried out a damp survey of our entire house, focussing on a couple of areas we had identified. Good communication on setting up the visit and arrived on time. Took time to understand what we hoped to get from his work and our main concerns. Discussed everything with us while he was at the house so that we could ask any questions we had. Promptly provided a full report including photos, with recommendations. We had some questions on the report, which he answered quickly by email and then follow up phone call. Based on their expert’s report, our home insurer sought to reject our claim for water damage, alleging that it was caused by faulty damp proof course and door seal. We appointed Adam Wallis of Neil Marsden Associates to disprove the insurer’s assertion - which he did - and he even went further to confirm our view that the damage was caused by a leaking underfloor pipe. We had effervescence showing between tiles in the floor of an extension. The source of the dampness was unclear but the most likely solution would involve taking out cabinetry and digging up the floor. We engaged with Adam Wallis of Neil Marsden to come and undertake a survey to establish what action we needed to take. When Adam arrived he undertook a thorough investigation and was not willing to simply pick the most likely cause he wanted to be absolutely certain of the reason for the dampness. He took the time and discovered the cause which was not obvious. He then advised on how we needed to address the issue and meant that the floor did not have to come up and as a result potentially saving us thousands of pounds. Adam's thoroughness and professionalism were exceptional. He took us through the investigation as it was being conducted and was clear about the implications. Hopefully we won't need his services again but if we did we would not hesitate to use him again.

Adam did a fantastic job with a damp inspection. I had, had a level 3 survey on a Victorian house purchase. It was vague and quite condemning of the place. As my house is empty at the moment I decided to get an independent inspection to see if the result matched with the original survey which I thought was wrong. Adam was very thorough explaining all points of the inspection he did find a few small spots of damp but not the generalisation of “the walls have damp”. I know some of the simple remedies now and how poor my original home survey was. Adam was courteous, clean and tidy and thorough. It is well worth the money.

Very good service. My RICs surveyor incorrectly diagnosed rising damp and suggested a DPC injection. Adam provided initial advice and provided a very detailed report on the house (much better than the RICS surveyor). He located the source of the damp and suggested appropriate remediation work. I have an ongoing insurance claim for water damage to my bathroom floor, which has been going on for months and months. The insurers are being very awkward and are insisting that I have rising damp which I must get fixed at my own expense before they can carry out the work. I was at my wits end until someone recommneded Adam. Adam came to my property and straight away told me that I do not have rising damp. He did an inspections and told me that I had a water leak from my bath caused by the seals around the bath letting in water and needing replacing. The surveyor from the insurers had failed to spot this nor had my previous surveyor. The next day Adam emailed me a very detailed professional report which I will send to my insurers. I don't think they can argue with that. Thank you so much Adam. I feel a geat weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I would definitely recommend Adam. He was very polite and friendly and carried out the survey in a though and professional manner.

I honestly forgot to write this review... but perhaps it's better coming 2yrs after the work was carried out because it gives an honest showcase further down the line of Adams survey and subsequent recommendations. To put it mildly we had a horrendous case of damp, but after instructing Adam, I am happy to report that 2yrs down the line it's still all fabulous and dry ... we followed his recommendations to the letter and have had no more problems with our severe case of damp.... it's fixed/sorted/obliterated/disappeared/gone... hurrah.... and on top of his knowledge and expertise, he's a nice chap that clearly loves his job... plus, he treated me the way I'd like my Mother to be treated and respected. Adam has been a godsend to us with our auction property renovation as we didn’t know where to start or how to rectify an abundance of damp issues. I had my spray foam removed k, and when I looked at it was not sure if it would pass a home buyer report so i looked for an independent surveyor to check over the work for me . I explained my situation to a surveyor i spoke to and he recommended Adam Wallis to me. I got in touch with him and he said he could do a survey on Wednesday a couple of days later and agreed as was expecting a couple of weeks delay. Adam called me on the day to say he was on is way but running a little bit late due to traffic out of London. Adam explained some remedial work need to be carried out and he would send me a detailed report the next day. I would just like thank Adam for his excellent survey report and speedy service he provided for me. I used the report to get the work completed although the company was reluctant stating it would pass. Highly recommend Adam Wallis should you need a survey carried out.

Recently after doing some online research I asked Adam to visit in order to give me his unbiassed assessment of my roof which had been spray foamed some years previously. I found him thoroughly professional, taking measurements of dampness and heat loss and examining the timbers for any degradation. He subsequently provided me with a full written report complete with pictures showing heat loss etc and said he would like to return during the winter months at no extra charge in order to check in different conditions. It was a pleasure to deal with someone who has no axe to grind and knows what he is talking about. Thoroughly recommended.

Adam was worth every penny, and a three week wait, for our pre-purchase specialist damp survey recommended on our Homebuyer's Report. After a thorough inspection and detailed report, he reassured us that we did not have a problem with rising damp and a defective damp proof course. This, despite being told separately by two other surveyors (employed by damp remedy companies, both members of the PCA) that we did, and it would cost either £4000 or £8000 to put right. Adam was the only independent damp surveyor within 100 miles of where we live, which is why he is so busy. But he is worth waiting for, and paying more, for his neutral opinion and advice. He has literally saved us thousands of pounds, and masses of disruption from needless remedial works.

Adam has been nothing but flawless in his customer service, from first phone call to receiving the end property report. Adam was not the cheapest surveyor we could have contracted, but after speaking with him I felt assured that he was going to give us an honest and true report being that he was an independent assessor and he had nothing to gain from quoting us for extra work than wasn’t completely necessary. His responses to emails were within minutes, even on an evening or weekend, his report is so comprehensive and I really am so pleased that we paid the extra to use him and his services. It’s true that you get what you pay for! Thanks Adam for delivering a truly professional service.

Adam communicated well throughout the process. Completed the survey in a friendly professional manner, advising of the actions he was going to undertake in a clear and concise way before completing said actions. Adam provided a completed report within the advised timeline. One point to consider is that you do need to pay for the survey 2 days before the survey is completed. This should not be seen as a negative, but good business practice on Adam's part as once the results of the survey are known I'm sure there are unscrupulous people who will wonder why they need to pay.

Adam surveyed our house in January 2024. He arrived exactly at the time promised and was thoroughly professional. His fee was money well spent as he was able to provide a convincing account of the reasons for the problems we were experiencing, and this has avoided us wasting a great deal of money on 'solutions' that would have made no difference - in fact he suggested a few simple actions that should resolve our problem. Adam visited my property on the 16th November 2023. I live in a ground floor flat of a very old building with a huge cellar. I have recently noticed damp in areas of the building including patches on the interior walls. Adam did a thorough inspection and a follow up with a very detailed report. To my delight it turns out the problem was not as bad as i first thought. The fan in my cellar was broken and Adam recommended a far superior fan which will be fit for purpose. Also a much better extractor fan for my bathroom. There were a few issues on the exterior that will need attention but nothing major. I wouldnt have even known these problems but am delighted that Adam's wealth of knowledge highlighted them. Adam has been amazing throughout! He was very quick to contact me, happy to discuss the issue in detail and clearly he is very knowledgeable. I needed a damp and timber valuation for mortgage purposes and I wasn’t prepared to pay for a constructor survey as I felt they would be more incentivised to push me to have additional work, when it wasn’t really necessary. As Adam is an independent surveyor he has nothing more to gain once he carries out the survey. The next day after he went out to the property, I received a very detailed report and the solution to the damp issue was a very simple one, which will not cost a lot of fix! I'm very pleased with the service and help provided by Adam while he carried out his report for us. Unfortunately, our home has a number of damp issues in multiple rooms. With Adam's survey and the knowledge he has given us, we hope to save a significant amount of money by fixing the problems correctly. I'm sure the information contained within the report will also be very helpful to any contractors we hire. The survey was not cheap, but as I said, we should easily make up for this cost by doing the right work instead of randomly fixing things and hoping it solves our problems. Money well spent, if you ask me.

We had a good experience with Adam. He was prompt, surveyed the whole property including the problem areas we pointed out, and provided us with a thorough next day report including photos and recommendations for repairs. Although this was a non-invasive survey Adam was still able to provide a detailed analysis of the condition of the walls and floors. We used Adam to undertake a Damp and Timber Survey to serve as a pre-purchase survey for a property we are in the process of buying. I cannot recommend Adam enough. From the outset, Adam was very helpful, friendly and answered all questions (there were a few as we are first time buyers), but Adam took the time to put us at ease and explain how he would undertake the survey. We were able to arrange the survey within a week of getting in touch and instructing Adam and we were grateful that he travelled to London to undertake the work. Everything was efficient with Adam. On the day of the survey, he was exactly as he was over email and phone call - very friendly and approachable. We were able to be in the property at the same time as Adam, and he helpfully explained his findings during his survey to us and took time to explain any problems identified. He went above and beyond during his survey and was very thorough (and I know not all surveyors are). After the survey was done (on a Friday), we were initially told we would get the report back on Monday (which we thought was very quick), but Adam actually got it back to us even quicker on the Saturday (1 day after the survey). The report was excellent - very thorough, clear and well presented and covered everything we spoke about. We were able to call Adam up to clarify any points he made in his report. Have recently used the company and had Adam attend our property to conduct a report in relation to the ongoing issues within our home. Adam was very attentive to all the issues we raised and took the time to thoroughly explain everything regarding the processes he would undertake. Neil Marsden Associates came recommended by another surveyor who was not a Damp expert, the service and experience was excellent, a prompt response when contact first made and the service and costs explained fully in Lamens terms. The report was received 48 hours after the survey was completed, great service, and the recommendations all make perfect sense. I would have no hesitation in recommending.

A few months after renovating our living room we started to get damp stains above our skirting boards. After having two local damp 'expert' companies out to have a look, who both gave different advice, but both recommended a new damp course injection. We spoke to Adam. Adam came round and quickly identified that the issue had been caused by the new plastering being taken down to the floor and not a failed damp course.
