Midland Preservation Ltd is described by many customers as professional and knowledgeable, with several praising clear explanations during surveys and detailed reports and quotes. Multiple reviewers say the team was friendly and left the property clean and tidy, and many report high standards of damp proofing, plastering and joinery work. Greg, Glenn, Lee, Nick, Tony and Eddie are named positively in several reviews for being helpful and keeping customers informed. One reviewer says guarantees were not supplied and damp returned, another describes poor communication and plaster repeatedly falling off, another reports being ignored after an enquiry, and another alleges a report for a landlord was inaccurate.
Fantastic service. Greg was very responsive, ind and helpful. Thank you again!
We required a specialist survey of the timber goods in a house we are looking to buy. Midlands Preservation were prompt, professional and very clear about what could be done to deal with existing damp issues and timber decay. They were also able to put our minds to rest about other issues which turned out to be much more manageable than we were expecting. All in all, we were very happy with their service and hope to get back in contact with them, for remedial works, once the purchase has gone through.
I had a fantastic experience working with Greg at Midland Preservation. Greg was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the entire process. He carried out a thorough inspection, took the time to explain the findings clearly, and provided a comprehensive report complete with a clear quote. When my lender came back with a few additional mortgage valuation requirements, Greg was quick to assist and helped me navigate the extra requests seamlessly. Brilliant customer service from start to finish. I'd highly recommend Greg and Midland Preservation!
Superb professional company. they will take care what you house needed. I wish they can keen on the professionalism for every client. Highly recommended!
Great speedy response and explained everything in detail. Would highly recommend
This is a very friendly company and listens to your concerns. Craig carried out my loft inspection for woodworm within 48hrs and confirmed the good news that No Woodworm was found in rafters and beams 😀 the charges were affordable and I highly recommend this company .
Had Greg pay me a visit to assess a damp patch on my walls of a recent house purchase. His advice was top notch and there was absolutely zero sales pressure to buy any service or product. He talked me through all of the symptoms and reasons of his conclusion, and gave me succinct options to treat the issue. Top notch service from a great company - would definitely recommend
No fuss, no drama, just helpful, knowledgeable information to get to the root if any potential issues quickly. A great service at competitive rates. Cant recommend enough!
I had a very good experience with the initial assessment and then the work completed by Midland Preservation. Found them polite and accommodating, which helped manage my anxiety. Work spaces left clean and tidy. I particularly liked the high level of detail in the quotation document that was sent, setting out the tasks that would be done.
Lee was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, replacing floorboards and spraying woodworm treatment. Very easy to deal with and we used them because they did similar work at our Son's property and he was also were very happy with Midland Preservation.
The work commenced on the day they specified. Kept me informed of the progress with photos and messages. Lee on site explained what the process was going to be. the plaster removed was removed and rooms cleared nightly. when replastered it was married into the existing wall. The joiner made a first class job of replacing the skirtings. Overall the job was carryout very professionally and in good time. Thank you to all involved.
I couldn't be happier with the work completed by Midland Preservation Ltd. From the initial survey through to the finished job, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and reliable. They explained everything clearly, completed the work to a very high standard, and left the property clean and tidy afterwards. The quality of workmanship was excellent, and it's clear they take great pride in what they do. Communication was great throughout the process, and the project was completed on time as promised. I would highly recommend Midland Preservation Ltd to anyone looking for a trustworthy company that delivers excellent results. Thank you to the whole team for a fantastic job!
All aspects of the work were of a high standard from the survey and quote to the actual damp proofing. Great communication throughout made life easier and all the chaps who attended were skilled as well as personable and helpful.
Provided a fantastic service. Greg came out to do an initial inspection of a damp wall we had in our living room and gave us some really helpful advice and recommendations before walking us through the process. Really flexible when we could get them booked in as we had multiple other contractors booked in. Eddie came and carried out the work over a couple of days and did a fab job, with a thorough clean down and even removing some stubborn nails for us to get our new skirting boards on! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and all came with a 10 year guarantee.
Great company, very friendly and professional and were able to quickly sort out unexpected issues that came up during our damp proofing work. Thanks to Tony, Lee and Nick for great workmanship, would highly recommend.
Really impressed with the customer service I received from Greg and the team. Greg was always available to speak with me and guide me through the process which was very helpful as a first time buyer who has never had to deal with this problem before. Definitely recommend.
High quality work completed for a tight turnaround, very pleased with the final result!
They were really friendly, and gave us expert advice on what to do with our basement space. Turned out that what we thought we needed was not the best route, and even though it meant we wouldn't require their services straight away, they pointed us in the best direction and next actions to take. It's really rare for a company to put the experience and needs of a customer over their own profit. We appreciate it. We will definitely call them when we are at the right stage for them to carry out works for us.
Thanks for quickly conducting the inspection to assess the roof timbers
Greg recently arranged some damp works at a rental property of mine. Completed work exactly as he said he would and kept me informed. Good service
Fantastic service from Greg Turned up on time and was very helpful Will definitely recommend to friends and family Much appreciated 🤛🍺
Great response from Glenn, helped me out and in quick time. Great representation of the company
Greg and the team tanked and plastered our fireplace. First class job and lovely people, would definitely recommend.
You cannot trust this company. My house has damp because it goes from a double skin wall down to single. The assessor came out and said the humidity which is normal on my house is condensating on the single wall because it's colder so it's an easy fix of thermal boarding over that one area. I was happy and the guy went. Because I'm the tenant they sent the report to the landlord who paid for the report. The landlord send me the report alongside this "no works are needed". The report said the recommendation for fixing is an extractor hood over the hob, an additional extractor downstairs and an extractor in the bathroom. The assessor never checked if those things already exist yet the damp is still there. And I do have a an extractor hood on the hob, there is a tiny toilet next to the damp path with another extractor in and a double extractor in the bathroom. They all work and that's why the humidity was measured as normal in my house. When I called to question the report I was told they ask the assessor and come back to me. They didn't come back to me so I called again and this was the response... "We actually for the landlord who's paying us not you". So I said "that makes it ok for you to lie to the landlord or to me about the damp issue then?" They said no the same information should be told to both people. The guy on the phone said he would edit the report and resend it. Let's see what happens as I havent had it yet. But if you don't question these guys they will write a report that's full of lies and back the landlord simply because that's who is paying them. This is a very unlawful and shady way of doing business.
gregg was very good to work with, much thanks!
Following discussions with Greg & Glen had new Passyfier fitted - whole process was very good and great job of fitting in evidence. The advise received and updates were all appreciated and there is little doubt in my mind that MP were a pleasure to deal with - highly recommend.
I had midland preservation come out at the end of 2024 for some damp repair, joist repairs, and to assess the damp cellar. I have since chased them for 2 years for my guarantees - which I still haven't received, and we have damp reappearing in the same places! For the cellar, we had water coming up through the floor, and a hole that seemed to be the cause, they advised that sealing the hole should alleviate the issue - it has in fact made it much worse as it turns out that hole was a Victorian sump hole. Trying to get a hold of this company for the guarantees is nigh impossible.
Greg is quality. Inspection done in good time and I will be using them to complete the work
Midland Preservation came to assess my garage which has a very wet floor in winter time. In the end it wasn't cost-effective for them to repai, given it's an older garage, but they did give me some possible DIY solutions to try.
All the guys were great from start to finish. Communication was excellent throughout and the work went smoothly. Appreciate the care taken not just with the finishing of the work but also within the house generally and overall. Thanks for the help and can definitely recommend
Fantastic experience with Greg and his crew. The team arrived exactly on time and were incredibly hardworking, staying focused and productive throughout the day without any time-wasted. Greg’s communication was excellent—he was highly responsive to all my questions and very easy to deal with. It is great to see a team that is both efficient and professional. Highly recommended!
Had a damp proof course done - Really pleased with the work carried out, really helpful, friendly. Great price quoted and didn’t carry out any work which was found to be unnecessary leading to a cheaper price than initially quoted. cleaned up thoroughly before they left and rubbish/debris collected promptly. highly recommended
Great company, called them to ask about issue of damp. Got excellent advice and told me what was wrong and what needed to be done to fix the issue
Cannot fault Greg and the team - Eddie & Tony! Discovered damp patch on my wall and Greg was over to take a look within an hour(!). The formal diagnosis and the quote document was really detailed and explanatory and came shortly after. The work itself - back to brickwork, damp proofing and replaster - was booked in quickly thereafter and done to a really high standard and Eddie & Tony did a great job with very minimal mess. All lovely and friendly guys as well. Would recommend in a heartbeat!
Amazing work, fast honest and all to schedule. Will definitely be recommending
Glenn and the team did an excellent job on my downstairs walls. As a first-time buyer, I really appreciated the free, detailed, no nonsense damp report Glenn provided—it was invaluable and even helped me negotiate a reduction on the purchase price. The work itself was completed efficiently, and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the overall dryness and comfort of the property. The re plastering and joinery is of a very high standard too. Highly recommended!
Can't fault the service - right from my first call to MP through to the works being completed it was a first class service. Always professional and kept me up to date. The people that did the work were really personable and did an excellent expert job. High recommended.
Excellent communication and good advice ahead of the work being done. The work was done with minimum disruption and I am pleased with the finished result. Would definitely use again.
Extremely happy with the work Midland Preservation have carried out for us. Reasonable price and work to a high standard. Lovely staff and very professional. Special shout out to Lee! Lovely bloke and very skilled. Couldn’t recommend these guys enough 🙂
Excellent efficient service throughout
Thank you once again for the excellent work by all the team at Midland Preservation for their second job of sorting the damp walls in our kitchen and lounge. Everything done on the various work days by Eddie, Lee, Nick and Tony was exemplary, from initial set up to final cleanup of the two work areas. We cannot rate them highly enough, we can certainly recommend Midland Preservation without any hesitation.
Glenn and his team; Gregg, Lee, Tony and Nick were all fantastic. Good friendly and professional, completing the work to a high standard and well on time. I would certainly recommend their services and the costs were very reasonable. Thank you Midland Preservation, Chris.
I engaged Midland Preservation to remedy a damp problem in an old internal wall in my house at Lower Hartshay, near Ripley, Derbyshire. They took off the plaster to mid-height. Inserted a DPC, added tanking, dry lined and replastered - all in 3 days. Lee, who did the job, was very friendly and professional and kept the mess to reasonable minimum. I am not a plastering expert, but the end result appears near flawless. The price seemed very fair too. I am a very satisfied customer.
I had some work done by midland preservation in my living room which had rising damp. Greg who came out to survey the damp was really friendly, professional and was knowledgeable, and was quick to get us a quote and sort the issue. The work was completed within 2 weeks, thanks to Greg being able to accommodate us due to the urgency of the job. I would 100% recommend midland preservation as a company. Thank you guys for being so accommodating and providing an excellent customer service, as well as a great job done!
Swift professional service from my first contact with them to assess my floor, which continued when Glenn came to look at the problem. Nick came to do the required work very quickly and again was professional, efficient and polite while he was working at my house. Can fault nothing and would have no hesitation recommending them.
Lovely team. Glenn takes the time to explain what needs to be done, Greg is prompt at getting the quote through. The team were incredibly friendly, tidy and diligent. Their is a reason I have used them more than once, it is due to trust in their work and professionalism.
Great service. Kept me informed.
We had a damp survey carried out, followed by some necessary work around the property. The team was able to accommodate the work while we were away on holiday, which was incredibly convenient. They did an amazing job everything was completed while we were gone, and we came back to freshly plastered walls. Overall, we’re very impressed with the quality of the work and the level of communication throughout. Would definitely recommend!
We absolutely couldn't be happier with the work done for us by Glenn and his wonderful team at Midland Preservation. We started with a stinky, damp, moldy and rather unpleasant cellar...and we now have a beautiful and inviting wine cellar and perfectly dry storage area. The lovely Nick was with us almost every day for 3 weeks and was a joy to be around. Even our doggy Betty welcomed him every day like a member of the family. The whole team bring years of experience and expertise (possibly centuries between them 😉) which is evident in the precision, care and standard of their work. We would not hesitate to recommend Midland Preservation to anyone considering a cellar transformation. I used to dread having to go down to the cellar and now i just can't stay out of it now!!! Thank you so much to the whole team, Glenn, Nick, Paul, Tony and young Eddie!
Very Professional service, acted extremely swiftly, handled and explained everything in detail. Can’t recommend them more.
From Glenn coming over to give a quote, with no hard sell ..All the tradesmen who introduced themselves, were ..punctual,professional ,polite and tidied up afterwards.I would recommend them highly with no hesitation!
Full basement conversion carried out - installation of sump pump, waterproof membranes on walls and floor, egress window created, full joist replacement in floor above + more. End product fully plastered + skirted all in great condition. Can't fault any of Nick's work. All involved friendly and pleasant to be around. Glenn always available to answer questions + came out same day to inspect before quoting, and again when we found a problem with the joists. Highly highly recommend!
I recently had damp work carried out at my house by Midland Preservation Ltd. From start to completion, work was coordinated well, there was clear communication given on what to expect, and they were helpful with any queries arrising during the process. I'm very pleased with the standard of work, and would definitely recommend this company.
Absolutely 💯 brilliant!!! I would recommend to anyone & left my keys with them!! Nick, thank you for my new dado rail sections by the fireplace, you went over & beyond your job! Wow what an amazing joiner you are!! Lee & Eddie also brilliant, a pleasure to have you working in my home! Great job!! Last but by no means least Glenn, without whom this would never have happened! You & your team are wonderful & I can not thank you enough!!! My sincere thanks, Dee. Bostocks Lane xxxx
I had an unexpected rising damp problem in my living room. Glenn came out to evaluate and discuss the problem and promptly provided a full no obligation quote. Whilst i also received quotes from other long standing damp proofing companies I have to say i felt more at ease with Glenn. He is happy to provide any information, is patient, accommodating and always responded very quickly when i messaged him be it either by phone or email. The quote was also extremely competitive. The service i have had from this company has been great. Nick, Lee, Eddie and Tony are a great bunch of blokes and have done a fab job. They arrived promptly each day and worked very hard to get each part of the job done to a high standard and with as little disruption and mess as is possible. Even when there was an unexpected hiccup, Nick came back promptly to sort it. I'm no pushover but being a women living alone its always nice to come across a company that will look after you. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Midland Preservation. Thank you.
Awful work has done for a customer with severe mental health disabilities. Window glass pane left with crack. Water leaks from a bathroom to the kitchen leavening the kitchen damp throughout the years. Moreover, electricity, plumbing and all fixtures done to the lowest industry standards. All the fire doors in the property were pulled out of the their frames and taken them away without the poorly sick customer’s knowledge. Still, the customer lives in the property without the doors. As a result, the property is extremely cold in winter. Unethical, cruel and exploitative! Think hard before hiring them.
I fully recommend Midland Preservation. When Glenn came to give me a quote he instantly instilled confidence with his advice on the rising damp in the house. His quote was very comparable to others i had received so i decided to go ahead with Midland Preservation. Work has been carried out very punctually and to a very high standard from Lee and Eddie doing the preparation, to Tony with his immaculate plastering and Nick completing the work with his carpentry skills. A brilliant job has been done by everyone and i have no hesitation with this recommendation. Thanks Midland Preservation.
Did a damp course, re plaster and did skirting board for us. Wonderful work and super quick and stress free. Would definitely recommend to others. Very professional and punctual.
Midland Preservation tanked and converted our cellar, creating 3 additional rooms for our house. They were extremely professional, and the finished product was of a very high quality. A special mention has to go to Nick, who not only did the majority of the work, but also give us a number of excellent suggestions which greatly improved the end product; thank you Nick.
Just brilliant -quick ,professional and great people to have in your house-thanks Glenn,Nick,Lee,& Tony Highly recommend this team -they get the job done well at the right price -thank you
Midland Preservation have done a fabulous job of putting a membrane on the stairs to my cellar. Nick was on time, really tidy, helpful and went above and beyond. I would highly recommend this company.
I used midland preservation on recommendation of a friend of mine. Midland sent an engineer named Lee, Lee was fantastic and I can't fault him at all so no complaints here. He was professional but down to earth and overall a really knowledgeable bloke and if it wasn't for him then the review would be lower My issue lies in management's communication. When ringing the landline number it's 50/50 whether you will get an answer. I unfortunately had an issue with the skimming work done (see picture with the larger chunk missing). Glen agreed to come out and take a look, he did acknowledge an issue and he did say he would fix it. The issue arose in me not hearing anything for 2-3 weeks. I rang and said it needs sorting to which Glen said he had not forgot about me. I waited another week with no call. To actually get someone out I had to ring and leave a voicemail saying if it wasn't fixed by the end of the next week I would ring a plasterer and send them the bill. Conveniently, I quickly got a call back and the issue was resolved the following week. Overall, would I be passing midland preservation on as a recommendation? Probably not. As a business you ABSOLUTELY MUST COMMUNICATE, if you're too busy just say so - if I was told they were booked up for 3 weeks I would understand and be grateful for the update but no company should ever leave a paying customer waiting with no answer. UPDATE: Another chunk of plaster has now fallen off, this time at the front of the house, not the back like previously. For the hassle of trying to get this company to sort it I now plan on just fixing it myself. (see smaller bubbled plaster) UPDATE: As they have commented all repairs have been carried out, with regards to contacting Glen directly we only get his nunber by asking, a suggestion would be to either add the mobile number to the website, setup a call forwarder to divert the landline of it rings out to a mobile or get someone in dedicated to answering the phone. UPDATE: Another chunk of plaster has fallen off, Glenn and your team if you're reading this get in touch. I don't want your warranty, I don't want your guys in my home to fix it again. I just want money back now. FINAL UPDATE: A 3rd patch of plaster had now fallen off, easily 1 foot long by 10-15cm wide. Seriously unimpressed with this company, I could understand the first problem when the backing was still wet (why we weren't told it'd have to wait is beyond me as I wouldn't have minded one small area being left to another day) but it just keeps occuring. I've taken it upon myself to repair now as it's getting silly. AVOID THIS COMPANY..
Superb quality work.
Would recommend Midland preservation Excellent professional service Nick the joiner has done a great job along with Tony and Lee who dealt with the Damp proof course
Midland Preservation replaced some joist ends and shored up a semi-collapsed porch floor in my Victorian house. They did a great job and Nick, the guy who did the work, was polite, cleaned up at the end of each day, and, went the extra mile on a couple of things that resulted in a better finish than we could have expected. Here’s an example, the support for the Minton tiled porch had collapsed and the porch floor had partly sunken. Not only did Nick replace the broken supporting members with concrete lintels, but he managed to jack up the sunken corner to level it out, making a huge difference to the look of the porch. Furthermore, he arranged for the iron vent to be shot blasted and powder coated. So, my expectation was that the porch would be made safe but the result was that it was made safe, and made to look good too.
We had to wait a couple of weeks for the estimate. The work itself was done very quickly to a high standard. The workmen were friendly, efficient, and obviously very experienced. This was important, as we thought our cracks were caused by subsidence, but once the plaster was removed it became clear that the major cause was a faulty lintel, which necessitated a change of plan. The price was not cheap, but reasonable. We would certainly re-employ, and strongly recommend.
We had our cellar damp-proofed and converted into a room, which provided much needed space. Midland Preservation we're really helpful, professional and did a great job in the time specified.
I would recommend Midlands preservation to anyone. Reasonably priced, friendly service and great job with great advice thankyou
We had Midland Preservation out at the start of this year to fix our rising damp issue. (2021) We were made aware of the issue in our survey in which Midland preservation came out to do a damp and timber report. The turn around for the report was very fast and Glen was happy to take phone calls from myself and my partner without numerous questions about rising damp. When it came to us moving in we let Glen know and he got the team in within a few weeks and worked around our schedule. With all of the ground floor bar one wall having plaster removed and treated for rising damp we were armed with many dust sheets and expecting the worst. However, the team were super clean and that was really a pleasant surprise. Along the way we did have some issues arise, which is to be expected when undertaking a project like this, such as a rotten joist and the last wall needing treatment and some new airbricks adding. Glen's team was available to do these extras at a cost (Pre VAT) and with a fast turn around. The team were polite and punctual and were only too happy to explain the process. Glen was always at the end of the phone to answer our relentless questions and requests. We would have no hesitations recommending Midland Preservation Thank you for your great service! Matt and Hannah (Stapleford)
I just had one of the guys from Midland Preservation around and couldn't be happier with the service, they are true professionals! I had an exterior wall with puffy plaster and salt crystals coming out which I initally took to be rising damp and had other damp specialists all too happy to agree and quote me a big bill to fix it. But Midland Preservation took the time looked closer and figured out there was no damp just salt build up and some bad plastering and then gave me a ton of great advice on how I could fix it myself with out ever charging me penny.
Very disinterested. Did an online enquiry on their website with no response and then called to ask about an assessment, was promised a call back which never came. Sounded like they weren't bothered, why don't you just say so?
Efficient friendly service..work done in time stated ..to a very good standard ..staff very friendly and even cleaned up as the went ..I would highly recommend this company
Unprofessional. Offer a guarantee and then ignore all emails requesting it.
