I recently used British Damp Proof for work on my new property and I’m really happy with the service I received. The team on site were friendly and professional, and they did their best to keep disruption to a minimum while the work was being carried out. They kept me updated each day and were always happy to answer questions. I also want to mention the office team because they made the whole process much easier. Every time I got in touch they were friendly and easy to talk to, always got back to me quickly, and took the time to properly answer any questions I had. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, which really makes a difference when you're dealing with work on a new home. Overall a really positive experience from start to finish and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them

I called in BDP because I noticed that the skirting in my library/craft room was rotting away. Matthew came around some weeks later (I went down with the flu when he was originally due to come and then the Christmas holidays came around hence that delay. Matthew said that because of the damp Weavils were eating the damp wood hence the wood dust I had found on the carpet. The dampness he believed was due to polystrene wall insulation blocking the air bricks. Most of the furniture was in the room at the time of his visit so he was limited in what he could appraise, but he said it looked like half of the floor would need to be replace as it was sinking and very spongey in the area by the window where the skirting damage could be seen. There was a wait period for the work to be carried out but a) I expected this as they carry out a lot of work and have to schedule things and I needed time to clear my books and bookshelves as I have a bad shoulder. When the day arrived for the workme to come an =d commence the work, they found that it was worse than expected. The whole of the floor was starting to fail and the joists under the floor were damp and rotting badly. The whole floor would need doing. This meant that some units and shelving would need to be cleared and removed. The workmen kindly took them down and moved them into other rooms for me so they could do the necessary work. The men who came to do the work were curteous and hard working. They took out the old flooring and joists, stopped anymore of the polystyrene beads falling through and blocking the vents by way of a sleave around the internal edge of the airbrick, Instaled new joists which they insulated with polymer foam where it touched brickwork to stop any damp reaching it. They then relayed the floor using MDF boarding and replaced the rotten skirting. The job took 3 days to complete and they took away all of the old timbers and swept up before they went. They made a good job and there is the peace of mind of a guarantee for the work done. I would recommend them. Obviously twice the work meant twice the cost, but with that comes the comfort of knowing that I'm not going to go into the room one day and find the units have fallen into the sub-floor area.

I've just had quite extensive damp proofing done and I'm very pleased ,obviously the proof will only evident many months further on, but I'm confident it will all be worth it. The gentlemen were professional and courteous. They did their best to minimise the disruption and to clear away as much as they could at the end of each day. When finishing they advised me on how to proceed with redecorating, sizing the plaster once its dry etc. I'd have no hesitation in recommending them to any of my neighbours..

I asked for British Damp Proofing to come to my very old house as I was concerned about some blown plaster. Mathew arrived promptly on the arranged day and he was clearly extremely knowledgeable and I immediately knew I was in the hands of a real professional. He very quickly put me at my ease as he explained what was needed. And amazingly his honest assessment meant that I could solve the problem myself using a product he recommended. Not only that, but the money I had deposited for a survey to be done was returned to me that same day Mathew said he wouldn’t charge me for his time and advice. How rare is that?!

Terrible experience with these people very rude and unprofessional. They took a charge from me to check if they had damp proofed our house telling me it's just a charge to check and they would refund once they confirmed they had done the work years before. I had a newborn so was concerned about the thick black mould on the walls. They came, checked confirmed they did the work historically. but refused to give back my money. Do not recommend

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional and Unresponsive I engaged British Damp Proofing for a timber and damp inspection required for a time-sensitive mortgage application. Despite paying in full (£90) and providing all necessary details promptly, the firm displayed a concerning lack of urgency and professionalism throughout. Initial contact was limited to a single voicemail left on a landline, with no follow-up via email, text, or alternative channels — a basic expectation in any modern service interaction, particularly when timelines are critical. This inadequate communication resulted in a delayed inspection date nearly a month after initial engagement, jeopardising the progress of a property transaction involving multiple parties. When I requested the service to be expedited, the company flatly refused and instead offered a refund, effectively abdicating responsibility rather than demonstrating any willingness to rectify the situation. No effort was made to accommodate the urgency of the matter, despite their earlier suggestion that appointments could typically be arranged within a couple of weeks of payment. This experience reflects a lack of client focus, operational agility, and service accountability. I would advise anyone requiring time-sensitive property inspections to seek a more reliable and responsive provider.

Won’t recommend, felt laps solve condensation issue in roof , not 3k for fans

My hallway and metercupboard needed treating, breathable membrane fitting and replastering. The polite friendly team came as arranged and completed the works to a very high standard within three days. The workmen minimised the mess by removing old material and cleaning every night. I would recommend British Damp Proofing to anyone with similar problems.

Having contacted this company regarding damp issues, we paid for a visit for the surveyor the attend , the guy was on the top of his game and knew what problems we had , we accepted the quote and was done feb 2025 I didn’t see the guys do the first bit but all I can say is what a legend the plasterer was , lovely clean work, faultless 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Having never used a damp proofing company before, I am glad I used this one, no fuss, technicians courteous got on with the job damp problem in my 150 year old house solved. From start to finish great job. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have been waiting 2 years for my damp in my walls to be done I now have a newborn child who I am not allowed to take to see my mother or my siblings because these haven’t got the time to get off their backsides and come get it done, I am outraged I have social services rammed up my backside because these have not done the damp! They have sent rilmac out but they won’t touch it due to architects on my walls. I’m fuming!

British Damp Proofing have recently carried out extensive damp proofing work on our 1800 property. The work was carried out as agreed and although the job went on longer than initially quoted, the staff were polirte and professional and completed the works to our saticfaction.

From inspection through to carrying out the works - the service was great. Communication was always quick and easy. Very good value.

As with many larger building firms they are great until you have paid them. The work was carried out well . But there is no after care. If you have a problem despite a guarentee you have to pay before they will come and have a look. This was the second time I had used them in two years but no loyalty.

We had to move the date of the work twice due to the tenant in the property and British damp proofing where patient and flexible with us. very good service. I had woodworm in a vintage shepherd hut and contacted British Damp Proofing. They were very professional all conversations were backed up with email confirmations and a date was scheduled for a survey and then to complete the work. Very pleased with the quality and professionalism of the company.

British Damp Proofing have carried out several jobs for me at 3 properties. I have found the standard of work is very good and a great outcome on each occasion. Very easy to work with and no issues. Bdp did some work on our house in August, Matt came to assess property and gave us a quote which was accepted, the guys who did the work where professional in every way they covered our furniture with dust sheets,removed all debris each day and when finished even mopped the floors throughout Would highly recommend this company to anyone,Thank you guys for a fantastic job done very well

At the end of August, British Damp Proofing did some work at my property. The inspection and quote was arranged quickly. Matt spent time assessing any problem areas and explaining the findings. During the works, Adam, Ady and Paul were very professional. They arrived on time each day, made sure I knew what to expect and minimised disruption wherever they could. At the end of each day, they gave me a clear overview of their progress and cleaned the area of rubble. They were very efficient and finished the works two days sooner than expected. Would definitely use again in future.

Matthew who did the initial assessment was friendly, knowledgeable and took time to explain what was wrong and how it would be sorted. He also visited a second time on request to answer further queries I had. The workmen were punctual, friendly, competent and left the house straightened up as far as possible at the end of every day, including mopping up the plaster residue on the hard floors before they left at the end. I had been dreading getting this work done but they made it as worry free as was possible. They answered questions along the way and kept me updated on how the work was progressing. They worked extremely hard and a lot of progress was made each day, 7 days in total. Invoices and the guarantee came through very quickly and payment was efficiently dealt with. I was very impressed and would recommend them to anyone needing this work done.

Heard mix messages about this company. Some of the lads who carried out the work was alright other than leaving my house unlocked when leaving after the days work, and bracking 3 of my plugs and bending my radiator brackets of the wall instead of unscrewing them, also we was told all my downstairs would be damp proofed and it wasnt they wouldnt do my downstairs cupboard just around it instead, also 5 weekes after we fort we paid the last bill we get another bill saying we owe more and not all the work was carried out, the emails from them are really miss leading. We the emails are really bad we fort we paid are final bill which the eamil said final bill so we paid what was asked for, we hesrd nothing from this company and then 6 weeks after we get a nasty letter saying we owe more money, when speaking to the owner he said the emails are miss leading, and they had sent us a letter which we never received, the compay are unprofessional they add more and more on your bill, and still heard nothing back from tge damaged they caused, and the office lady is quite rude

Our survey was conducted by Matthew , he was honest, truthful and professional in his appraisal of our damp problem. Luckily it was not serious but we are glad we paid for the survey. Would recommend this Company to anyone.

Can't praise British Damp Proofing enough. The team were efficient, polite, timely and extremely clean and tidy. All communications were clear and concise and certificate received within 5 days of completion of work. Would definitely recommend.

Not the most helpful. Wanted money up front but not even prepared to discuss availability.

Recently had BDP do some works at my house. The guys who turned up on site were very professional, polite, laid dust sheets and floor protection etc. The damp proofing done and the replastering are of a good quality and finish. However, I personally think an extra half a day would've just squared things up to how they were before. Some architrave hasn't been put back properly and they did replace some copper pipe for a radiator. Unfortunately it isn't the correct length or angle to connect back up to the radiator. Minor things but the littlest of jobs take time to correct. All in all a good service, thanks!

Be warned - no longer a member of the Property Care Association (PCA) (the trade association for damp treatment). We attempted to claim for repair work under guarantee - British Damp Proof (BDP) acknowledged the multiple failings (4 walls in total) but advised the guarantee only covers re-injection of damp course injection but not: 1) removal and refitting of skirting boards (required for the injection) 2) replacement of the damaged plasterboard (damage was as a result of the failed work by BDP) Not much point in the guarantee and not made clear on their website. I discovered they are no longer a member of the PCA so decided it was not worth the risk to pursue so we will be going elsewhere to rectify the issue.
