We love Tom’s work at most! He made all of our wishes came true in a reasonable price. We were in need of a worktop which is in unique size and height. After a few discussions, Tom understood our needs and suggested his professional refinements. He even searched around for suitable woods. Then finally, he customized us a stained ash window sill, a countertop and live edge floating shelves. He is such a considerate carpenter. He handled all the work in great detail. And even make sure we are happy with the direction we look at the wood grain. We cannot recommend Tom more enough!

Tom did a great job fitting new doors in the upstairs of our house. They look great and he left everything very tidy and clean. Would definitely recommend.

Tom created some bespoke birch plywood shelves for my kitchen. From the very outset it was obvious that Tom has a keen eye for design and detail. My initial ideas were taken and developed into something both practical but also beautiful. Tom really took care to make sure I was happy with every detail. I would definitely recommend and will also be using Tom again in the future for sure!

Tom constructed a ceiling-height shelving unit for our office using recycled scaffolding boards. As you can see in the pictures, the unit is robust, symmetrical and beautifully finished with a dark brown wax. This combination of elegance and solidity is especially impressive given how unknown a quantity old scaffold board can be (think moisture, warping etc.). It exceeded our expectations in every way, adding character, space, and even adding a sense of height to our low-ceilinged abode. We’re absolutely thrilled with his work. Tom himself epitomises the qualities of personabilty, professionality, and punctuality, arriving uncannily on the dot for appointments. When installing the unit, he worked efficiently enough to engage in conversation as well as finish early. Mess was kept to a minimum and he left the room even cleaner than he found it. We couldn’t provide a higher recommendation for Tom and his work. It’s top quality and reasonably priced. We’re now looking for further jobs for him, having seen what he’s capable of. Thanks!

I needed a built-in unit by the back door with some shelving and a rack for outdor shoes. Starting from a very rough sketch of mine Tom suggested some refinements which I liked and then created an excellent unit which has exceeded my expectations greatly. Tom is a superb craftsman and I happily recommend him to anybody looking for a top quality job.

Tom is a brilliant carpenter who has done a phenomenal job of our built in wardrobes and cupboards. The standard of his work is outstanding, and the attention to detail and overall design fits beautifully with our victorian period property. Despite taking plenty of time to listen to my vision for the work, the finish has still exceeded all of my expectations ..In addition, for what it's worth, Tom is a lovely person: tidy, kind, considerate and reliable. Very pro and dedicated to his trade

Tom made some cupboards and shelving for our alcoves and some kitchen shelves. He also boxed in some wiring. We got a few quotes and Tom was the most thoughtful about the design. He's very good at explaining how things will work, listening and suggesting ideas. We can't speak highly enough of Tom or his work. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Tom was recommended to us by someone else who had used his services as we were looking for some bespoke storage on both sides of our chimney breast. Despite a fairly clear idea of what we wanted to achieve, we gave Tom what was probably the most vague instruction of what we were after. Tom talked us through some details, took some measurements and went away to do some work before the installation. The installation was speedy and Tom checked details with us through the process to make sure we were happy. Tom also tidied up when he left to what might be a higher standard than we've ever done ourselves - it was spotless! The end result far surpassed what we hoped could be achieved and we are so, so happy with the outcome. I could not recommend Tom highly enough. The short version of this review - if you are thinking about getting Tom to do some work, don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed!!

Tom did an amazing job building a window seat for our bay window, complete with storage access. He took care matching up the front facade with our existing decoration. He was punctual, tidy and clearly communicated throughout. Highly recommend.

Tom built two alcove units and shelves for us, as well as rehanging a door. From the start, Tom's communication was great and quickly came around to view the job. He listened to what we wanted and talked us through options. We had to time this work around a larger building project and Tom was flexible in timings which really helped. His work is brilliant. Tom did an excellent job with our built-in wardrobe. It was built to our exact specs, and within the allocated time and budget. He's been great at spotting potential issue with the weight of the hanging doors and reinforcing the joists above while keeping in mind the potential loft extension to come. Communication was great throughout the build as I wasn't on site at the time. I can't recommend him enough!

Tom came up with a very elegant solution to a door issue we were having. On the day, it ended up being more work than expected but with no fuss, he accomplished a seamless result.

Had a beautiful solid oak front door made and fitted. Will last longer than the house.

Tom has done two pieces of work for us, and we are totally delighted with the results. He designed and built a bespoke kitchen island unit which has really transformed the look and practicality of the room. He also renovated and repaired our large Victorian front door, and rebuilt a porch screen to blend in with the existing architectural features. Tom is a meticulous and talented carpenter, and a really nice man who listens carefully to what you want to achieve. Tom is a great tradesman; skilled, clear and reasonable. He's also a great carpenter, who's designed and completed 2 projects for me - which are perfect. He's particularly good at working with you to get what you want, even if that means explaining where you're wrong!

I requested a bespoke bathroom design from Tom, bath and shower panels, bath tray and LVT flooring to replace an old and dated plastic bathroom. Tom helped me chose the right colours and designs for the space keeping in mind the look I was after. Tom arrived on time and completed the work quickly and efficiently making sure all the little details were taken care of. He left the space in a good state so I could still be at home during the work. I’m really happy with the quality of the woodwork and the total transformation this has given the space. The work was excellent value for the craftsmanship and meant I could change the space without having a whole new bathroom which was out of my budget.

Blacks Carpentry created a bespoke house sign for us. The process was fuss free, Tom immediately understood what we wanted and provided us with various size and font options. He kept us up to date with progress pictures which was helpful. We are extremely pleased with result, a testimony of Tom’s skill and attention to detail. Many of our neighbours have been impressed. I would not hesitate in recommending Blacks Carpentry, I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to write this one!

Tom is an extremely skilled carpenter and joiner. He has completed a range of work on my house over the years, from 1st and 2nd fix carpentry to bespoke kitchen units and cupboards. He's utterly reliable, fast, hard working, has a good eye for design and takes real pride in his work. He's also a great problem solver and can turn his hand to other types of work should the need arise. Highly recommended!

I simply cannot recommend Black’s carpentry enough. I’ve used them at least a dozen times and every time they have been 10/10. Tom has all the gear and all the ideas! I’m very fussy about tradesmen but Tom tops the lot. Everything is well thought out and transparent from start to finish. One of the tidiest and most considerate people you will ever meet.
