Andy and his team at Extended Space recently completed a knock-through and extension on our 1930s home in Chelmsford. From the outset to completion, Andy and his wider team were very responsive, thoughtful and detailed in their communications, which immediately builds trust and provides reassurance. The work was completed to a high standard, and Andy and his team were respectful, courteous and professional throughout the project. The team were clean, tidy and polite, and were quick to help out with some personal errands (such as helping fetch some things from our storage unit on a couple of occasions) without hesitation. Andy provided insights throughout, helping us implement our plans and designs in a practical way, without compromising on the outcome, cost or quality. He also helped complete work in addition to original scope which saved us a lot of money compared to hiring other external contractors. I would highly recommend Andy and Extended Space. A family run, professional, helpful and trustworthy business - something that is incredibly important when undertaking significant home construction. Thanks again guys!
Extended Space have just successfully completed work at our house to a high standard. The result is precisely how we envisaged the build would look and it has been a pleasure having the team in our home. They have all been personable, diligent, patient and attentive. The other trades they brought onto site were similarly so and worked very professionally alongside each other. 17.11.25: Updating in light of a updated response from the business. I provided initial plans with full planning permission sign off before engaging this business for their services. So I'd already spent X thousands for architect and local authority permissions so hard to accept your assumption that I wasn't ready and that you never communicated your stance to me either, you continued to give the impression you wanted the job. I explained during the initial site visit I was waiting on the structural drawings and this was just before Xmas. Early in the new year you reached out to check where we are and I responded in 2 days explaining this in detail that I was chasing the architect for structural drawings. I even over explained that I was serious and ready to lock dates in once we had a solution and quote. You didn't respond to this email at all to say you don't want to support. So far as am aware I was still pushing for my structural drawings as I need them anyway. After some delays outside of my control and errors, I received the drawings in March so around two months later. I sent these over to you and you responded to thank me and that you would get onto them the following week and call me to run over the drawings. So again you are setting my expectations that you want this job. I never heard anything from you after that email and then as mentioned below was engaged with other contractors and the contractor who consulted the best won the business. So as much as you want to push this on to me, I am finding it very difficult to understand what I could of done better. For everyone else reading this still my extension is complete! Poor communication, wasted both our times. Andy came out to look at our house extension, sent initial plans over then followed by structural drawings. Andy said he would call me, never did, I waited a month but in the end went with another contractor who was able to give me confidence for my project. I experienced what you could say the early signs of probably what to expect from this company so in the end happy with the outcome. In a highly competitive market building trust with your potential and current clients is so important and makes your business stand out. I would of totally been fine if Extended Space didn't want the job they could of just said earlier in the engagement and this review would never of been written. Hopefully Andy can take this review as constructive feedback and provide future customers with a better experience.
We engaged Andy and his team at Extended space to remodel our kitchen and dining room. The work was carried out to a very high standard and we’ve had no hesitation in recommending Extended space to our family & friends.
Extended Space carried out works including knocking down a wall, taking out and replacing a kitchen, replacing internal doors , new lighting and putting in bi-folds. We were kept fully informed about what was happening and when at all times. Andy project managed the works ensuring that the right trades people were on site at the correct times. At all times work was carried out in an extremely neat and tidy way. In fact I’ve never come across such neat builders. The finished results are completely as we envisaged if not better. I would not hesitate in recommending Andy and his team.
Andy and his team were excellent from start to finish. The extension and kitchen were done to a really high standard and everything was finished on time. Kieran and Charlie were a great help throughout, genuinely lovely guys. All the workmen were well-organised, and every part of the job was managed and completed really well. Excellent builders. They were polite and tidy. Helped us to renovate the kitchen and build 2 new rooms on the back of the house and change the layout of the upstairs rooms. Quality of there work was great. And they helped us with everything even unusual requests. All the subcontractors were great I felt very looked after through the whole process. Would definitely recommend to others.
