I recently had a fantastic experience with Militao Carpentry, from initial site visit and CAD design, through to installation. Toby designed, and assisted by Graham, fitted bespoke mirror wardrobes either side in a small dressing area in the master bedroom. They also put a new door and frame in the entrance to the en suite shower room. The quality of workmanship was of a very high standard, and everything was beautifully finished off. Throughout the process I received regular updates from Toby as to progress of the work. An added bonus was the installation date was brought forward by two months! Nothing was too much trouble for Toby. I can, therefore, highly recommend Militao Carpentry. In fact, I will be having them back in the near future for some additional jobs.

Toby has made a fantastic job reviving our tired oak kitchen. While structurally sound our 15 year old cabinets were looking tired and marked. We chose two different colours (for island and surrounding cabinets) and he sprayed them all - see pictures. The outcome I am sure you will agree is great. Why did we choose Toby - he had done previous work fitting new oak room doors throughout the house so well he was the obvious choice. Working with Toby was great, he's very friendly and professional, he always kept his appointments and was very communicative. I really appreciated the design phase where he showed me a 3D model of what it would look like beforehand, this allowed me a greater level of control and input over door appearances and internal layout. The finish externally and internally was amazing and definitely the best around. He sprayed and pre-cut all the materials beforehand so he was only on site for one morning and was very efficient. Bonus, he left me the rest of the paint and advised me on primers for painting the bed too!

This individual operates unethically, selling services and skills that he clearly does not possess. I hired him for five different tasks, yet three out of the five were entirely unsatisfactory. A chair he "repaired" collapsed as soon as a light guest sat on it. Aside from being highly embarrassing, this posed a significant risk of injury. Toby was also responsible for securing our floorboards, but the work he left behind was so shoddy that the carpet fitter could not proceed. Despite his claim that it was impossible to fix the uneven floorboards, I was able to rectify the issue myself after he had left them in a poor state. To clarify, the floorboards were not uneven until Toby's involvement. Additionally, the mirror he supposedly "repaired" is now coming apart, with the visible glue making it clear that the job was done poorly. The adhesive should never have been visible, especially since the pieces fit together seamlessly before his work. For the price I paid, I expected far superior craftsmanship. It is painfully obvious where repairs were made, and I am now left with the task of using putty to address the damage he left. Furthermore, the screws he used are conspicuously visible, and despite initially being willing to overlook these issues, the repairs are no longer holding up at all. Toby offered a paltry £100 refund after I paid £468 for just over half a day’s work, leaving me with the added expense of hiring someone who actually understands how to repair furniture. This has resulted in a substantial financial loss due to Toby's unethical practices. I am deeply disappointed, as his business presented itself as professional, but the quality of his work was anything but. Update: I have finaly had some time in my busy schedule to repair the chair. I did it myself as Toby made me lose all trust in carpenters. After watching a youtube video about how to repair antique furniture I was able to fully repair the chair and it is back in use with no issues. During my own repair job I found that Toby had used the wrong size dowel and had not clamped or weighed down the chair for the glue to take. And aside from that, the glue he used was useless and looked messy. I also discovered from an antique furniture repair person that you should never use metal screws to repair antiques. Toby riddled my very precious piece with metal screws which also looks terrible. I cannot stress more how upsetting this has been as we had these pieces shipped from afar and trusted Toby with the job, who blatantly lied to us about his ability to repair furniture or floorboards. I'm too busy to pursue this further so the best I can do is warn others.

Toby and his team replaced all doors in my house for rental...They were professional, friendly, and incredibly easy to have around—especially during the chaos of a house move! Toby took time to visit and provide opportunities for follow up discussions over the design of our study furniture. He took on board our thoughts and modified the design to our needs. We were fortunate and installation date was brought forward meaning it was ready ahead of proposed schedule. A two man team attended on installation day and whilst it was not complete on day one, they were able to return and finish by the end of the second day. I am pleased with the finished product.

We got in touch with Toby having followed his work on social media. We had reached the end of a large renovation project and needed some bespoke carpentry items to fit some quirky spaces - fitted ‘open style’ wardrobes in our dresser maximising space, converting a strange shower cupboard in my daughter’s bedroom into some huge storage cupboards (making good the surrounding area), building corner bookshelves in my husband’s study. And creating a storage unit to hide our TV/Console items! On initial meeting, Toby took time to understand our requirements, creating excellent drawings which brought these to life. I got to select the finish in farrow & ball paint to match our rooms, they look fabulous! The products were made and installed with great efficiency. Toby and his team were perfectionists on site and didn’t complete the project until they/us were 100% happy. We would highly recommend his services.

Toby and his colleague Aaron replaced all of our old internal doors with 13 new oak doors which have transformed the look of our house. Toby was very responsive to questions before the work and was the only provider I asked to quote who responded quickly in fact within 24 hours. He suggested slightly different doors to those I proposed which while of the same quality were slightly cheaper. The work was undertaken in a very professional manner and we are very pleased with the outcome and in fact are considering having further work done by Militao Carpentry. They were happy working round our inquisitive dogs, protected the carpets, cleared up at the end of each day (the work took a week) and were always polite and flexible. I would happily recommend.

I have been using Toby’s expertise in bespoke carpentry for 4 years now and always love the end product. Toby is so approachable, trustworthy and professional. He recently designed, made and installed a couple of bespoke draws to complete a small wardrobe space and they are perfect. Work done on time to a very high standard

Toby designed and fitted some beautiful cupboards for us. We Have been using them for 6 months now, can tell the quality is good- absolutely no problems. Brilliant communication and also allowed us to change the design (from shaker style to a more traditional finish) at last minute which didn’t affect the final quote.

Toby and his team created a beautiful built in book case around my fireplace, as well as creating a book case that turns into a secret under stairs door. Technically challenging but well executed, Toby delivered yet another well crafted piece of furniture. There were no issues returning to make a few tweeks to the work several months later. Would highly recommend Toby.

Toby not only installed but designed the wardrobes 5 in total in our main bedroom. 2 concealed an old fireplace, one was massive (80x80cm), a two formed a walk-in wardrobe with automatic lights, he then built 2 bedside cabinets to our exact specification (185cm apart) to fit our super king sized bed, together with panelling behind it! Looks magnificent!

I can’t recommend Militao Carpentry highly enough. We have just had a beautiful wall to wall sofa bench fitted, with built in storage behind eight shaker style push opening doors. Keilan and Toby have done an excellent job, paying close attention to detail to the millimetre. Not only has their workmanship been to such a high standard but also the way in which they work has been impressive, with everything left clean and tidy at the end of each day.

I looked for a while to find someone for several carpentry jobs at my home and home office. A number of carpenters visited and submitted proposals which were all broadly the same price. Toby's was marginally more higher BUT I chose to work with him as I liked the way he approached the project, he was diligent in questions, he made a commitment on when the work could be done and, simply, I just had a good feeling about him. I am glad I did as the work was completed by two of his team (Keilan and Aaron), on time and on budget. The team were tidy, quiet (we have a small baby so that was important) and thought on their feet when tweaks and changes needed to be made. The workmanship is really good and so I could not be more pleased. Better than that, they even found a slot so this all happened quicker than I had been promised. Would definitely recommend.

We used Toby and his company to install a fitted wardrobe in our new house and we could not recommend them highly enough. They were extremely responsive and professional throughout and we were extremely happy with the finished product. This is the second time I have used Toby, so happy was I with the work he did last time. This time he came and replaced a hideous old set of Louvre doors in the living room with some lovely shaker style alternatives.
