I'm so lucky to have found Richard and his team. I'd had to kick my previous builders off site because after a year of not completing the snags I just ran out of patience and more and more things were going wrong in my home. Richard's team came in and did a through survey and discovered a huge list of sub-standard building work, which they are now gradually repairing for me. I wish I'd found him before I started my extension; I'd not only have a first class building extension, I wouldn't be so heavily out of pocket! Richard looks after his clients, does excellent work and values his reputation. You are in safe hands with Richard Saunders Building.

Rich and his team completed a full renovation and remodel of our house over winter and spring 24/25. Rich was engaged and professional throughout and all work was completed on time and to budget. We had Richard and team fix / renovate a 12 year old extension which had been nothing but trouble. They identified key issues (roof, chimney, windows), brought in the multiple trades needed (all of which were excellent) and hit budget! Most importantly we're delighted with the end product.

Rich completely remodelled our two bed flat; took walls out, moved doors, new kitchen, new floors. His previous experience as a structural engineer gave us great confidence. He produced plans and gave us guidance to help us through the Building Control process. He helped us find other trades (eg. plumbing and plastering) and helped us manage their work. Richard and team did a great job with a remodel/refurbishment including a new bathroom. Communication was efficient and prompt, we had some bumps along the way (to be expected sometimes on large jobs) which were resolved quickly and professionally. Rich built an extension for us and converted our garage into an office. His project management was great, getting all the different trades lined up with very little down time. We employed Rich to modernise our recently purchased home - mainly plastering and decorating but also some gas work and a fireplace removed. Almost all of the work was carried out by the decorator and plasterer while we were living in the house, who worked around us without complaint. Overall, we're very happy with the outcome.

So incredibly impressed with the work Rich has carried out on our 19th century cottage. We had originally been told that in order to carry out the work we wanted we would have to lose our en suite bathroom. Several other builders had seen the drawings and simply quoted on the job. When we met with Rich however, he was determined to find a way to still carry out the work needed but keeping the en suite. He worked hard to come up with a great solution to our dilemma, bringing in another architect for a second opinion and bingo! It worked! And we are SO grateful. Not only that but he looked for ways to make sure we kept within our budget and timeframe and has maintained all the character that we love. No mean feat! He is always very quick to respond to any questions, no matter how small, and is always so personable. Thank you Rich, we could not be happier! We will definitely be coming back to you for the next job!

Rich Saunders did a single story monopitch extension to our dining room at the back of our house. Before quoting, he came around and took measurements and looked at our architects drawings providing a professional written quote in the timeframe he promised. This was a pleasant contrast with several other local builders who didn't even show up when they said they would or those who did (eventually) show who had to be chased down to provide quotes. So refreshing! The work began when planned and was completed in the timeframe originally quoted for. None of that getting to 70% complete and then no builder to be seen for days at a time (because they've started another job elsewhere!) with Rich and his crew. Inevitable with a build onto an older house, there were some issues arising as the build progressed. However, Rich was always quick to point out where he could foresee where we might have a problem (e.g. deeper foundations, concrete lintel where it might have been missing from the original build) and keeping us updated throughout the build. Other problems that cropped up (e.g. faulty Velux) were acknowledged, investigated and simply put right in due course. Build was on time and on budget. Rich is a great guy and always goes out of his way to ensure you are happy at each stage of the build. Most importantly, when there are problems that will always crop up - he will tell you, explain why, what can be done about it and the approximate cost (if there is one). I would not hesitate to recommend Rich or hesitate to use him again. Finally, a note to the "don't show up, stall at 70% of a build, hide problems rather than own them, don't engage with the client, take 50% longer than quoted and have final costs 50% more than quoted" brigade - Rich is a new type of builder and a serious threat to your breed!

Over the years I've seen my family hire a range of trades for various jobs, me included, to only end up having a bit of a torrid time and wishing we'd done it ourselves. Consequently I was a bit nervous about finding the 'right' person for our extension...not something I could turn my hand to! After searching and meeting a few people I still wasn't overly enthused...so did one last search and found Rich. It was the best decision I made...until I chose him for our job of course! That was the ultimate best decision! From the outset and throughout he listened to us, resolving and settling any concerns we had through his clear understanding and knowledge of his profession. There were some minor issues, which is to be expected with any building work, but he was responsive and focused on how to solve them. I couldn't have asked for more. Richard Saunders has saved our home and our sanity. We recently purchased an old house, that when surveyed had no large issues identified. We had planned for decoration before moving in, however following a last minute cancellation, Rich was recommended to us. He came to visit on two separate occasions and agreed to undertake what should have been a relatively simple job for him. However a number of significant issues soon became quite plain to us all - issues that if left had the potential to cause significant disruption later. Therefore, was meant to be a relatively straight forward decoration job, turned out to be: new central heating, new bathroom, new plastering and celing fixation, carpeting, some rewiring, gas safety work, masonry work, fireplace installation and complete redecoration. Rich gave us multiple options and pragmatically answered -all- of our hundreds of questions. He gave us advice when required, explained what could be done given our budget. He project managed everything, brought in people that simply would not have been available to us had we attempted to coordinate what needed to be done ourselves. It is worth noting that he delivered on time (one month!) and under budget. The last tradespeople out of the door were professional cleaners. We have a young family and two full time jobs in healthcare, it was a shock to find out that the house we bought was not fit for purpose; until Rich and made it warm, clean and comfortable, ready for a new family. We now trust this house. It’s a real pleasure to live in, were very lucky. We will look to use Rich and his team again for any future work that might be required and cannot recommend his services to you more highly.
