Steve and his team recently completed an extension to my house to include a shower room, new kitchen and patio. Their work was excellent throughout and finished to a very high standard. In the past they have also worked on house improvements for my daughter and grandson and we have all been more than pleased with the results. Steve, John, Jim and James delivered a friendly professional service with great attention to detail, so many thanks to all of you for everything you have done.
We had never had building work done before so was apprehensive about finding a good builder. Steve came round and instantly put us at ease with the complexity of our build. We had sewer drains to move, to make the extension possible, and he was very chilled about this task showing the experience with dealing with this which put us at ease. We had waited a while for the work to start however we knew they were busy which we also took as a positive to support our choice in builder. When the work began every workman we met were professional, considerate and knowledgeable. They completed the work with extra touches that I wasn’t expecting like turfing the grass that had cover boards over for their tools. They completed the work ahead of schedule and we are over the moon with our new space. We would definitely recommend and use them again.
Lexden Builders recently carried out a number of works on our newly-acquired 80s bungalow after we had downsized. These included landscaping the rear garden and laying down a shed base, installing a new bathroom and a new kitchen and repairs to an attached garage including fitting a new ceiling and electrical works. All if these works were carried out to a high standard and within the agreed timescales. We were particularly pleased with our new bathroom and kitchen undertaken by James whose considerable skills and experience resulted in a high quality of finish. We have no hesitation in recommending Lexden Builders. Needless to say, however, they are very busy so plan well in advance!
We used Lexden Builders for a fairly major project, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. They converted a garage into a room, installed a new patio across the whole of the back of the house, removed an fireplace, extended and installed a bathroom plus other works to complete the project. From the very start, Steve and his team were professional, approachable, and transparent about every stage of the process. Communication was excellent throughout and any questions were answered promptly. Every aspect of the build was finished to a high standard, with great attention to detail. Their motto seems to be it’s only right if it’s perfect. Let me give two examples. John recut paving slabs to fit in drain covers because he wasn’t happy with how they lined up after his first cut. James sent back two shower trays because there a slight bow in them and they weren’t draining as quickly as he wanted them to. The whole team genuinely care about getting things right and takes real pride in its work. They were also really tidy and considerate. This was incredibly important as we were still living and working in the property during the work. They were also flexible and accommodating, working around our schedule. Equally important is that they were friendly; when you have people in your house for a fairly long period of time is so important and makes what can be stressful at times less so. We picked Lexden Builders based on recommendations from friends and I have no hesitation in recommending them. They’re reliable, trustworthy, and deliver exactly what they promise — top-quality building work with excellent customer service. If you’re looking for a builder who combines skill, reliability, and integrity, Lexden Builders is an excellent choice.
From beginning to end, such a friendly and professional service from Steve and the team (James, John, Jim and Jack). I can't thank them enough for a fantastic bathroom, particularly James who was just relentless and worked so hard to get it finished ahead of schedule. Steve and the team have delivered a fantastic transformation of our house. Replacing our old conservatory with a new extension stretching the width of the property to create an open plan kitchen, living and dining space we are genuinely thrilled at what they have delivered. We used their managed service that included all planning applications, building controls and engineering services as well as specialist contractors. Steve and the team were a pleasure to work excellent workmanship and especially neat and tidy - neighbours commented "how nice our builders were". Steve and his team completed a single storey extension to our preschool building last year. The build consisted of a room for the children, office, bathroom and sensory room. They also made alterations to our existing preschool room and built a new shelter in our garden. The workmanship, professionalism and friendliness of the whole team was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The end of the project had to be completed with the preschool running and they kept the site safe at all times for the children . The build was finished to the highest standard, on time and the build came in on budget which was essential for us as a charity. Steve completed the building of our shelter labour free as a gift to our charity which was amazing. We highly recommend Steve and his team.

As a single parent with a disabled child I found it daunting looking for builders. You hear so many bad stories. But when Steve came over to quote me on some work I felt comfortable and relaxed, he gave me some good options, and I knew I wanted this firm to do the work straight away. I feel proud my choice was a great one! The builders who came to do the work were absolutely fantastic. They all had a great sense of humour, they were so trustworthy and reliable. We had a single floor extension, room knock through, whole kitchen installation and new patio to back, side and front. John, Jim, James and the whole team were absolutely fab, they were tidy, professional, accommodating and kept us updated throughout the transformation. Steve handled the design, planning, organising of materials, gas, electricians, flooring, plastering and windows and all spot on with timing. We are more than pleased with our new space and would not hesitate at recommending Lexden Builders.

We used Steve and his team around four years ago to complete a new kitchen and extension, therefore we did not hesitate to reach out once we were ready to start work on the upstairs. This time we had a whole new bathroom and a further three bedrooms plastered, painted, new radiators and various electrical work to modernise the lighting and provide some additional plug points. From start to finish James kept us updated and ensured that our home was still our home even though it was slightly upside down! Everything was cleaned and tidied every day minimising the impact on a busy household. Even the dog was given some love. We are over the moon with the changes, Steve coped with a few additional decisions that emerged and ensured these were carried out to the highest standard. The rooms now look modern, clean and fresh. The bathroom and the box room are real highlights as they are now unrecognisable. (We apologise for the porcelain tile choice James). Steve and his team did a two storey back extension for us as well some internal renovations and our garden. The planning process was really simple and the team provided suggestions to improve the plans we had already but were never pushy and their input was really helpful. When it came to the building work, the team were polite and considerate, making efforts to make things as easy as possible. When there were unforeseen issues as there are in all building projects, they were practical and helpful in resolving them with as little fuss as possible. They always made decisions with our needs in mind, even if it required extra work and no corners were cut. Despite some delays which weren’t their fault they worked hard to get us in for Christmas and before our son was born which was really important for us and we really appreciated the extra work towards the end to help make that happen. They came back to re-do our garden after the building work and did an amazing job. There were a couple of minor snags which they came back and sorted immediately with no issue. They have completely transformed our home and all the work was done to a high standard. We will definitely use them again for any more work we have and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Second time we’ve asked Steve and his team to do some work on our Victorian terrace and it won’t be the last! Steve really understands our vision for gradual modernisation and really listens to what we’d like. Our dining room has been transformed into a bright, large space with bespoke alcove bookcases and beautiful French doors leading out to the garden. A dark, old fashioned and generally unused room has been transformed into our now favourite room, with space for all our books, vinyl and sound systems along with a funky fireplace and upright radiator to keep cosy. Steve and his team are totally professional, friendly and flexible, sticking to a clear timetable and adapting to our changing circumstances and needs. We had Lexden builders do a large amount of work at our house, complete rip out and replace if the kitchen, bathroom plus other rooms being plastered and decorated. The work was completed to a very good standard and they are very professional, we are very happy with the finished product, they worked well with changes to plans due to challenges discovered during the work and plans that we changed ourselves. We will happily use Lexden builders again for future projects.

We've had a garage conversion done, the guys started just before Christmas and, just 4 weeks' work later, all the planned work is done - despite the first 2 weeks being done in sub-zero temperatures (James really suffered!) The final result is better than we could have imagined, and we'll be using the guys to fit the utility once we've figured out what we want! Steve is very easy to deal with, and everybody that came to work on the job was considerate, professional and efficient. Our job was complicated by needing to keep an electric feed to a garden office going; and the electrician was able to plan around that so I could keep working. We'll definitely consider using the guys again for anything that we do in the future, and we'd definitely recommend them.

We would recommend Lexden Builders 100% for any home renovations you need. Steve is the ultimate Project Manager making sure that everything is planned to perfection. You will see progress every single day. Steve and his team have knocked through a kitchen and living area for us, and completed everything to time, and with great attention to detail. This included installing a new kitchen and appliances, 2 steel girders, removing and replacing an asbestos ceiling, lighting, electrics, plumbing, new radiators, flooring, plastering, decorating, new skirting boards and architraving, and even renovated a small downstairs bathroom as an extra while they were here! Nothing is too much trouble, communication from Day 1 is excellent, clear up afterwards is included, and if you are lucky enough to have James work on your project every day you will not be disappointed. Time wasters unfortunately. Took time out of my day to take them through our extension plans and never heard from them again despite a promise of a quote. Chased a few times but was ignored.
I now only use Lexden Builders for any building work. They always turn up when they say they will, they are polite, clean and tidy and do a great job. Over the years they have built a laundry room, completely refurbished the dining room, replaced the roof of the house and in the latest work, they have seamlessly added insulation to the walls of my sitting room, including replacing and repairing original coving from 1906, plus they’ve entirely refurbished my very tiny downstairs toilet and shower room. Which has gone from being a drab, slightly embarrassing room, to looking like a rather luxurious hotel look shower room, thanks to James’ great attention to detail. Couldn’t be happier. Always service with a smile, always a pleasure to have in the house. No hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending.
Absolutely fantastic service from Steve and his team. We had a new bathroom suite, knocked through and raised floor from mid landing w.c and the size this has given now us along with the extremely high quality of the finish is second to none. From plastering, tiling, electrical, carpentry and plumbing work, all were delivered to the highest standards. James was a complete professional, extremely hard working, great at communicating with updates and checking all requirements, as well as meeting all timescales, vigilant with his detail, extremely tidy and the finished work was even better than we could have imagined. The downstairs w.c was then also completely modernised and again, the outcome was faultless. Competitive quote, realistic timescales and will be using Steve for all future works without question. Really impressed with Steve and his team through every part of the garage being converted. Steve project manages everything and is really contactable throughout. He is on site when any new piece of work starts and checks on the work regularly - I notice that each of his team keeps him in the loop too. Really pleased with every aspect and zero glitches to report, have recommended to my parents to get some work done! Attention to detail is superb, really happy!

So when I needed my elderly relative’s house restored, as it was rather run down, I had no hesitation in asking Lexden Builders Ltd to do the work. They exceeded all expectation as the house was transformed after four weeks to an amazingly beautiful home. The kitchen was replaced, electrics updated, cracks in the walls and ceilings repaired and the entire house was redecorated to perfection. All the workers turned up exactly on time and worked solidly throughout the day. They were not only polite and friendly but they worked to a very high level of craftsmanship. We have been saving to get our beautiful Victorian but very run-down terraced home refurbished and were inexperienced clients having always just 'made-do'. Never again! Steve and his brilliant team of professional, hardworking, imaginative, creative, reliable and friendly workers made the whole process a breeze. Steve is patient and flexible (we can be indecisive) and finds a solution to any problem quickly. His building team found an ingenious solution for turning the kids bedrooms into two gorgeous, evenly sized rooms from a huge double and tiny box-room; the kitchen is transformed into a modern, very cool space and the hallway, staircase and landing are just stunning. Gone is the horrible woodchip wallpaper and airtex ceilings, replaced with smooth, beautifully plastered and painted walls and ceilings. At every stage of the process to refurbish the heart of our home, Steve offered sound advice and was always available, transparent and responsive to our needs and affordability. We are more than delighted with our experience with Lexden Builders Ltd and look forward to future projects working with Steve and his fabulous team. We could not recommend this company more highly.
Simply stunning work carried out in our house. Steve & all of his team have been amazing, efficient, polite & friendly during 4 weeks of work & we are truly overwhelmed with the results. We felt at ease with everyone that came in. We put our house in their hands distributing keys to all & what we now have is simply the most amazing living space. Lexden builders project managed the entire work. We didn’t need to do anything & disruption was minimal. Doors were secured to reduce brick dust travelling through the house. We had support to keeping as many appliances for as long as possible as the kitchen was ripped out & with everyone being so friendly, even our young teenagers felt at ease & would chat to the team during the work. We actually miss having the team around now that they have gone! The guidance we had throughout led to this beautiful space. Before & after pictures can be seen on the website, we are clients Paul & Nikki. We had advice on layout, design, internal doors, lighting, wall paint though to what we would not have considered such as boxing in wiring so that aesthetically we had the best look of our house.
